Theory: Rainbow Dash Can't Swim

I think she can swim but she chooses not to do so in water. (As we saw her mime swimming in the air.) And just a small theory but; maybe she doesn't like getting her wings wet and weighed down?

Well in To Many Pinkie Pies, Rainbow Dash did say that cloud busting was a lot harder and did not feel like swimming today. As for the shacking part, that just seems like a normal reaction to me. Could also be trying to protect her book from get wet. For the River shot RD could just be annoyed that she lost to a dragon.

 

Dash didn't mention that she "did not feel like swimming today". All she said was "I'm kinda exhausted". (Viable given that she's lazy, but also works as an excuse to avoid swimming). Plus she didn't have her book out at that time; she had her tanning mirror.

 

Also, she's already lost to a dragon. Kicking that one in Dragonshy got her nowhere; you'd think it'd come as no shock this time around.

Since Dash has an experience with weather and having wings would be pretty redundant with water. She did swim in clouds but, it's not that she can't swim she just chooses not to swim. Athletic ponies are usually used to swimming but, she has wings so the wings might get in her way when it comes to swimming.

True, Dash did say that she was exhausted, but it could still be put as I don't feel like swimming Pinkie Pie. The other thing is Rainbow Dash invited Pinkie Pie to to the lake. True she said, She was going to catch some rays, but maybe she wanted to swim to, but was to tired after work. It would be odd to work extra hard at work so you would be more tired to swim. 

 

As for the dragon part it could be looked as she is annoyed that RD lost to a dragon again or she wet. But this part is still not proof that she can't swim or is afraid of water.

No way! Dash is a TANK! She can withstand ANYTHING!

 

But really, it's something, but I don't think so. It's true we haven't seen any of the Mane 6, except for Pinkie, swimming, but I think they'd be more than capable of doing so.

 

Plus, if Dash was afraid of water, she'd be nowhere near it

That's a really interesting idea! I can't remember her ever swimming! There were a few scenes in which she got wet, though, so aquaphobia might not work. However, just not being able to swim would be really interesting!
