gaming Videogames you TRIED to like, but really didn't?

Tried to force myself to like League of Legends because a lot of people I know play it, but I was really bad, and didn't enjoy it as much as I enjoy MMORPGs and shooter games.

I also forced myself to try to like the Fallout series. I liked it, but it was hardly impressive in my oppinion.

Other games I tried to like were Assassin's Creed and Garry's Mod

This topic was inspired by how a friend of mine mentioned that he tried to force himself to like TF2 but couldn't really get into it because it was too goofy to him.

The first things that comes up to my mind is Halo. I really thought that the games looked cool, but every time I played it I just felt that it was boring.

The slenderman game, it sucked but everyone was talking about it.. I played Slender on my computer, it sucked. Then an app came out, I downloaded it, it still sucked.

I have yet to try them all, but here a few that I just did not enjoy after trying or playing them for a while.

  • Final Fantasy series
  • Call of Duty series
  • Pokemon Dungeon games
  • Sports games
  • Motion control games

That's a few to name at the moment.

LittleBIGPlanet. I heard so many great things about it, it was hugely anticipated, it was supposed to be the PS3's killer app. So I got it for myself. The next day I returned the game, disappointed, because I found it was nothing more than a generic, boring platformer with fancy graphics and fancy physics. Because those totally make a game. Oh, and using the analog sticks, which are meant for 3D movement, in a 2D sidescroller, and using the D-pad for EMOTIONS? The fuck is this?!

Oh yeah, the Resistance series too. Again, hugely anticipated games, they're from Insomniac (who made Ratchet and Clank, among other great games) and they had some really creative weaponry. Then I played them and... GENERIC FIRST-PERSON SHOOTERS 1500/10 GOTE (Game of the Eternity) HALF-LIFE 3 CONFIRMED SHOOT ANYTHING THAT MOVES with barely any redeeming factors other than 60 players in the first game's multiplayer and the difficulty, which btw is so hard it gets to the point where the game isn't even fun anymore. I like a good challenge in a game, but some of the firefights in Resistance: Fall of Man made me want to put down my controller and do something else. Resistance 2 was basically more of the same, nothing more than a copy-paste job unlike what you find in Call of Duty with a 2 slapped in front of it. I never bought the third game.

Back in the Gamecube/Wii era, i bought:

1) Viewtiful Joe (returned it the same day i bought it)

2) Call of Duty for the Wii (Horrible graphics and shitty gameplay)

3) Pokemon Channel (still have it, haven't played it in years)

4) Halo Reach (Haven't beaten the campaign to date)

I only played these games one or twice, regret getting them

I really tried to like Halo because I was interested in the first person shooter genre. Halo was my first FPS and I just couldn't enjoy the campaign despite how much I tried. I simply got bored. I liked playing the online multiplayer for a short time, but it stopped being interesting for me pretty fast.

Custom Edition was a lot more fun, I played that version much longer than I played the legitimate game.

I'd have to agree with Scootalove, Call of Duty is just way too repetitive with no motive to want me to keep playing.

The Halo games were great, I loved playing them, ESPECIALLY Halo: Reach, but Halo 3 seemed a bit weird, and they just killed it with Halo 4.

Tried Mass Effect, couldn't get into it.

I've also tried LoL, Black Light Retribution....couldn't get into either of them...LoL...well I'm not a fan of "clicky" games...I find them utterly boring....I don't see how people can just sit there and continuously click a mouse and find it being "fun" I prefer my open world games like Fallout, Just Cause, Sleeping Dogs, GTA, Saints Row...etc...

I've also tried Dawn Of War, my ex BF gave me a copy and couldn't get into it...not my type of game....

Guitar Hero post 3, Team Fortress 2, CoD's campain. I'm pretty good at buying games I like and I guess I'm pretty broad in my like of games. I really liked the Survival mode in Modern Warefare 3, but it seemed like nobody else does because I could never find anyone in Matchmaking in the first few months of the games release. I don't own the game anymore.

Personally, it would be The Legend of Zelda or most of the Mario games. I attempted to enjoy them, I did enjoy the Mario Party and sports related games in the Mario Franchise, but for the Legend of Zelda...I don't know, it just doesn't appeal to me. I have received a lot of hate for not enjoying it and someone said I wasn't their friend for disliking it.

Mass Effect comes readily to mind. I have heard nothing but good things about this series (disregarding the ending controversy from awhile back) and I wanted to see what was so great, but I have yet to experience any of this because the first game is so bad I want to chuck my controller against a wall in frustration. Idiotic partner AI, cover that protects you as well as tissue paper, overly long loading times every time I died (which was a lot by the way) and horrible driving sequences are just some of the things that are keeping me from wanting to go back and give this series a chance.

Then there's the Legend of Zelda, which to me is one of the most over-hyped franchises I have ever known. I get why this series is so popular, but the only LoZ game I ever liked was Link to The Past when the basic formula was made. This same formula has since been driven into the ground ad nauseum with little to no change to the point every game might as well be called "LoZ: Ocarina of Time Part #"

Splinter Cell: Double Agent comes to my mind. There are very few games that I buy and don't like. Thankfully, I didn't buy that game. I just borrowed. Call of Duty also comes to mind because it's the same thing over and over again. I recently played the Black Ops 2 campaign and I got...bored. It was ok I guess, but I went to Halo: Reach after like the third level. I'll probably go back and finish it just for the Gamerscore and I really don't like leaving a game unfinished. I enjoyed the Halo series, even Halo 4 which needs some work, and I always seem to go back to it.

It really, REALLY bugs me when people get so butthurt when another's opinion isn't the same as theirs.

Like, gee, I wouldn't want a friend like that anyways.

For me it's Gran Turismo 5.

I love racing games, it's actually my favorite genre, and when I heard that this game was supposely "realistic", I bought it.

Huge disappointment, seriously, the 2nd worse disappointment with video games after Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity.

First of all, when you start the race, it's uberly boring. You just follow the line on the road and there's so many steering and breaking helping and stuff that you are currently not really playing the game. So I removed all this.

I have seen races in real life, and got a ride into a corvette Z06. We even took a curve at above 100km/h, and we reached 1G of push in the curve.

In GT5, if you go just a bit over what the line on the road tell you, you slide unrealistically and ram the wall. But no damage at all.

And I'm not even talking about the physics in "rally" races and when driving go karts. I guess that IRL, you can drift on mud without losing 70% of your speed in rallies..

Sorry, but this is by far the most overrated game of all time, and my #1 worst racing game.

Just about any RTS game, they're too slow paced for me

Any realistic sports/racing/simulation game

Any mmo type game

Gears of War, didn't like the characters other than Dom, didn't like the multiplayer, didn't like the gameplay, it was just overall meh

The Megaman Battle Network series, it just doesn't give me that same flare that the other Megaman games have

Killzone, too generic for my tastes

1) Viewtiful Joe (returned it the same day i bought it)

I tried to like Crazy Frog Racer, as I kinda liked him, I even bought one of those CD's when I was younger. However, I just couldn't get into the damn game. The disc now no longer works, so I'm kinda glad I'll never play it again.

I could never get into the Assassins creed games, they just were never my cup of tea. I also thought Slender was boring and not scary at all. I couldn't get into Halo 4. I LOVED Halo 1, 2, 3, and Odst, and even Reach was okay in my opinion. Halo 4 just lacked the magic, if you know what I mean.

I have three games total right now.

The first one is Rogue Squadron 2: Rogue Leader. I tried playing, but I just can't get into it. It's still fun to fly around every now and then in Slave I, but it's not really a game that I enjoy for very long.

The second game is Little Big Planet. I just don't get it. I'm mean, sure it's a nice break from senseless violence, but I just can't find anything fun about it.

The third, and final, game is Ico. I've been told the Shadow of the Colossus it the perfect game for me, and it probably is. However, I always feel the need to play games in chronological order. So, I'm currently forcing myself through Ico. I absolutely HATE the AI. I mean, Yorda, the girl I'm escorting, refuses to climb a ladder that she just climbed. Last night, I got so mad at her childlike antics that I left the game running so that I could eat, hoping that by some sort of miracle, she would find her way up the ladder. When I came back, she had found her way to the top. Filled with the hope that I could finally move on to the next room, I walked over so that I could grab her hand. Instead of taking my hand, she decides to climb all the way back down the ladder. Then she starts shaking her head, telling me, "I'm not going to climb that." I really hope that Shadow of the Colossus is worth all of this rage that I'm containing within.

I would have to say The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. That game I found boring. I just couldn't enjoy it. The other would probably be LittleBigPlanet 2. I didn't dislike that game, but it got boring very fast.
