Worst Case Theoretical Hasbro Takedown

This is a theoretical situation that will 100 percent not occur, but it came across my head and I wanted to see every-ones honest reaction they think they would have.

The Scenario -

Alright so what if Hasbro found a reason to shut-down and halt everything with MLP FiM, like the majority of our Fandom started to do some unspeakable deed that forced them to stop producing anything MLP related.

Then they started to have some massive internet wide take-down on all of our major internet sites (Like this one) they immediately started to attempt to try and take down most if-not all of our fan creations, and our fan-made products too.

Now to add insult to injury, they after they've pretty much screwed over our Fandom begin to release a Generation 5 with toys that look like they came directly out of G3.5. They are completely hideous and poorly designed toys. And this new series they release is the WORST out of all of the generations and was solely made to farm-money, and the team behind the show intentionally made it everything we don't like.

And of-course at every corner of the web Anti-Bronies are rejoicing at the take-down.

What do?

That is actually legally impossible. If you give someone such leeway as Hasbro is giving us in terms of fan art and other derivative works for a such a long time, we're coming up on 3 years in a month, then you are legally giving them a license to do such things.

Long story short, we've been doing it for so long without C&D's on everything that we are now allowed to do it whether Hasbro likes it or not under US law.

Edit: BIG WARNING! I am very confident in my interpretation of the law, and many others agree with my interpretation, but this is in no way legal advice, and I am not responsible if you using my post gets you in trouble somehow.

I'd be okay with it. Since sometimes I feel like the fandom should be reminded who's really on top, as so long as I still get to see some of my favorite PMVs, I won't lose any sleep.

But apparently, a lot of that is impossible to do legally.

I am a Brony. I love being a Brony, Twilight is best pony.

I know that it is impossible to do, I literally just thought of tons of things that were impossible that would totally suck if that did happen.

Personally I wouldn't care much about the Hasbro part of it all, I'd just hate to see all that ridicule.

Actually, it is not impossible to do legally speaking.  If we publicly use any intellectual property of Hasbro (even including avatars and banners, trademarked names, ect) they are within their rights to take us down.  The reason that this does not happen, however, is because

1.)  That would be a huge corporate pain in the ass with many legal steps.

2.)  We actually support the show and thus Hasbro (sometimes I think even a lot more than the target audiences.)

If Hasbro lost Bronies, I actually think that they would start to lose money again on MLP.

Actually that is very dependent on how we use the IP, not just that we use the IP in general. Using MLP's IP in general is protected by law as I explained in my earlier post. They can still do fringe cases, though, like what happened with Fighting is Magic.

The only major reason this is unlikely is because the read-write that they've embraced by accepting such a massive amount of fan work around their creation is drastically helping them. Artists get to express themselves through things they like, and the show gets free promotion. The attention brought on by the massive fandom causes more people to be curious, which increases sales and attention. This whole fandom is a benefit with how it is.

G3.5 was wholly unsuccessful. Reverting to a 3.5 situation would hurt them, because the success of this line is with reason. By reverting to an unsuccessful line, they would lose money. The point of a business is to increase revenue, despite the costs in may ways. In really bad cases, at the cost of human life and oppression. (For example, if these are made in China, those workers probably aren't making livable wages.)

This is basically what PIPA, SOPA, and all their incarnations have been trying to do. A large part of why the fandom has been able to do what it has is Lauren Faust embracing the periphery fandom aka brownies.

Also YouTube selling out.

If all that were to happen, I would form a society called the illumineighty, making sure all that is My Little Pony FiM will continue to burn strong for all eternity, even though this would all be underground and the universe will eventually reach its "heat death".

Jk, I would be upset, knowing I lost everything and everypony I had known. Not to mention I can completely be myself as a brony since we are a loving society; being separated from this forum and bronies would lock down a part of my mind.

Brony culture would still go on. It wouldn't be as strong without the internet, but Hasbro can't regulate that Bronies can meet up or even form their own convention in real life. They can't stop artists from drawing, musicians from composing, crafters from making plushies, animators from editing and they can't stop this exchange in real life or any money that may change hands because of it.  Their are websites that are difficult to reach, even by the government, let alone a corporation. You can't a love for something, especially if it involves friendship and magic.

Besides, Hasbro needs us, whether they want to admit it to themselves or not. Cause unlike their target demographic, we actually have disposable income.

Call me a mean-spirited bigot, but I would just sit back and watch the butthurt. (After I cry of course) But in all seriousness, I would accept it was over and spend all my new time on Homestuck and Doctor Who

Tough times arrive towards any fandom and franchise, I would just have to sadly deal with it.

While there may be some who may try their best at convincing Hasbro, eventually times come and a new generation must come for the future.

I don't really like these theoretical scenarious as they really aren't something that you cna talk about unless they actually happen. There's always the chance that some brony could do something horrible in real life that could cause a giant public backlash that Hasbro MIGHT have to do something but in reality we ARE a huge chunk of their audience and we keep this fandom alive. It's not 5 year old girls who attend these brony conventions, its teen and adult bronies and they know that part of keeping US happy is to allow us to create out own fannon. If they crackdown on the fannon then the fandom and their money will crumble. It's really a lose-lose situation if that happens
