Could/Should this be a movie

This could totally hold itself as a full length movie in my opinion.

I've watched every episode and it's just calling out to me that a movie would be great. The story already revolves around friendship and the bonds between the ponies which is already an interesting start.

The opening 2 episodes of Season 2 only made me want a movie more. The plot of Discord confusing them and removing their gifts to turn them on each other was brilliant and already had me hooked for 40 minutes.

Can you just imagine it? An ultimate story of friendship! Some songs placed throughout!

I would pay to see that.

 

 

What do you think, should/can it be a movie? And what would you wish to see in an MLP FiM movie?

It might make for a more interesting movie, however it would have to go deeper into things that we didn't see in the episodes. Things like Luna and Celestia's actions after Discord had escaped, Discord actively making things all chaotic(i.e. him making the cotton candy clouds) as well as him stealing the elements.

 

HOWEVER...I think the best candidate for a movie of FiM should be about the reign of Luna and Celestia after they fought discord the first time around, chronicling also the transformation of Luna into Nightmare Moon and the conflict that ensued. This is only reinforced, in my mind at least, by this bit of music that was released recently. I am not the only one who thinks that this is of movie quality.

Of course it could be a movie! It would be amazing! It'd probably just be one of those 45-min movies they make for shows like this, but MLP may be so much more popular in the future that they do make a full-length 90-min. movie!

 

Also, anypony have good ideas for a the plot if a movie's made? What do you think would happen?

Maybe the return of Discord (and he's not on his own this time). If they had wanted to they could have turned the first 2 episodes of season 2 into a movie. That plot in my opinion was one of the best.

Liking the ideas so far.

 

This is probably cliche but a movie where all the previous villains gang up to take over Equestria (Discord + NMM + Trixie + Gilda with a creature army featuring the dragons, manticore, hydra, cockatrice, Ursa Major and Minor, parasprites, etc.)

 

Ends with a community-wide Elements of Harmony blast (kinda like Goku's Spirit Bombs in DBZ. "EVERYPONY PUT YOUR HOOVES UP TO THE SKY!! GIVE THE ELEMENTS OF HARMONY YOUR ENERGY!")

I'd totally pay money to see a full-length feature film of Friendship is Magic. If one is made, however, I'd like it to be the grand finale of the whole series. Honestly, I would want to see the Mane 6 go through something completely devastating (along the lines of the Discord episodes) and resolve it by the end. Something like their friendship deteriorating down to the point where they all go their separate ways for a while, only to have some major event bring them back together. Bit grimdark, but I would love a movie like that.

He was an evil cantaur/demon thing that kidnapped ponies in the first MLP special back in the 80's. I've never seen the special myself however I read about him at one point after hearing some bronies mentioned him in the the Celestia Radio chat room a few months back. Hmmm, you might be right but I would sure pay to see it. If they advertise correctly and take advantage of MLP's presence all over internet they might work something out.

Okay, the only problem I see with FiM getting a movie in theaters is the animation of it.

 

Now don't get me wrong, the regular animation is great for on tv. But, for a movie on the silver screem. It would feel pretty weird.

I know what you mean, if they can give different animation that is better for movies but still true to the show that would work just fine. Much like the SpongebobSquarepants Movie did

Or for another example look at the Powerpuff Girls movie. They used the same basic style with a completely different style of cinematography and far superior animation. I do think though that it should be an in house thing with just the HUB showing it as movies like this tend not to do well in theaters. It would reduce the strain on the involved parties while still providing us the same level of epic tier entertainment. I would however pay quite handsomely for a FiM movie.

Oh god, I think we all know (Or at least the Spongebob fans) how the quality of that show went after the movie was made...

 

But I think that an MLP:FiM movie would be pretty interesting, especially if they put in some huge Detective Conan-esque backstory/plot to it.

I think the quality drop in Spongebob after the movie was due to the original intention for the movie to be the end of the show, after the show was renewed for new seasons people dropped off.

Well I don't know about that...

 

Now I've never actually seen the show or the movie... but from what little glimpses that popped up on youtube, the show called Winx Club has the same problem of animation to movie, for their movie they use an cgi animation that is very reminiscent of the show's animation.

 

 

But seriously, I'm kind of shocked no company wants to make a movie out of the show... seeing as how popular it is... I say give it a year or two.

I mean, its on a channel that most of us didnt even know existed before we heard about MLP. very few people even have the channel, and from what ive heard, the fanbase that actually is in the target demographic is pretty small.

 

it probably wouldnt make much money, so i doubt a movie would be greenlighted.

 

still, id love an MLP movie. a TV or direct to DVD movie would be possible.

Actually, if you haven't noticed bronies have been gaining alot of attention from the media. I know you posted this before it happened, but we got on the front page of the Wall Street Journal. If that is not publicity, I don't know what is.

We've also been in a lot of school related newspapers/projects.
