The overimportance of going to college

My father has been in computing for most of his life, for a good portion of that he has been running his own computing business, so he has plenty of experience, he once applied for a job a few years back but was declined because he didn't have a university degree.

Experience is the most valube tool to get you a job, a university degree is what gets you into the job interview room.

Life is too short to worry what others think of you, be creative, be weird, live life.

Something that's getting my attention with this.

Money talks, Education is a business, remember that.

Economics 101: supply & demand. The greater the demand, the greater the value or price. Conversely, the greater the supply, the more diminished the value or price. With college graduates in an unusual abundance, the value gets diminished and coupled with the pressure from the debt that comes with it (more on that in a moment), it makes it easier for employers to lower the pay and make more absurd requirements or demand on their college graduate workers.

As for the college debt; if it becomes impossible to pay the debt--if the interest grows too fast for you to pay even that--you're pretty much screwed for life because you can't file for bankruptcy. A house is something you can still sell but that isn't the case for an education.

As @ stated, there are some rather deplorable facts about the corporate world with ass-kissing to the top being one of them. Think of the corporate world as a jungle with its own food chain, predators, parasites and other pathogens. Understand the system and make the best of it if you can't avoid it altogether or at least find a nice little niche at the fringes.
