I was just pouring through the internet when I suddenly came across many of the educational games I loved to play when I was a kid. It ranged from the Magic School Bus PC games to the Jumpstart games to even the Math Blaster games.

Has there been any educational games you loved to play as a kid? Maybe the games I mentioned, or you could add your own! Let me hear them so we can relish in our nostalgia! Here's some pics of my favourites! They were so educational, and at the same time very addicting.

Pajama Sam

This game was really fun and great. smile.png

There was also another game with two fish, but I don't remember its name.... but I finished it, unlike Pajama Sam.

I've never considered those games educational per se, but I can understand the nostalgia here. Those are Humongous Entertainment's games, and Freddi Fish is the game you're thinking about :)

Oh my goodness this game was my favorite; Freddie Fish was my all time favorite game. It had many missions, and sometimes I'd get so frustrated because I couldn't find special things I needed.

I played this game all the time when I was a kid! I loved the Tetris game they had in Freddi Fish 3!

I used to play I Spy in my old elementary school days, and for some reason I'm starting to miss the game. This game was pretty enjoyable during my childhood.

I've never actually played those games on the computer. I know they existed, but I never got around to playing it because it wasn't my thing.

Well, I consider them educational, because instead of shooting people around, these actually help the kids develop their logic. And I doubt I've ever played any educational games, they were pretty rare before...

And thanks, that is exactly it, Freddi Fish. smile.png

Now that you put it that way, I guess it was educational to an extent. Have you tried the other games from Humongous Entertainment, like Putt-Putt or Spy Fox?

Hmm... I don't remember really well. These are the only games I remember playing on the pc, along with this one with a dragon (???) I played once at school when I was 6.

Oh yeah! They would always have really cool games. The tetris was cool. Also I like the hogfish rustlers. You would get to make your own hat, it was fun back then.

If you want to have some really fun typing experiences, I suggest this game. I never played it, but because it's from Jumpstart, I had a whirl! I didn't even need DOS to play this!

Well, since Pajama Sam, Magic School Bus and Freddi Fish have all already been said, I guess I'll have to go with the Cluefinders series of games.

ClueFinders_3rd_Grade_Adventures.jpg

From 3rd to 6th grade, this series had you preforming educational mini-games to collect some from of Macguffin to usually stop some kind of evil doer from using the power of some kind of eldritch monster to take over the world. The third grade game alone had you venturing into the amazon to collect two halves of a key from the Baboon kingdom and Goo Lagoon (both featuring a sentient race of monkeys and plants respectably) to stop the carnage of a beast known as Mathra that was sealed away by a race of people called the Numerians eons ago.

Did I also mention that this could get bat-shit insane at times?

OMG... YOU MENTIONED THE CLUEFINDERS!!!! RAH RAH RAH RAH RAH RAH!!!!

You deserve a medal. The Cluefinders were such an epic educational series! I had every game from them. Reading, Math, 6th grade... even the arcade one! My personal favourite was 4th grade because it featured Charles Martinet as the antagonist!

Ah yes, Jumpstart. I used to play this when I was around 5-6 years old. I don't remember what was in it, because I haven't played that game in 10 years.

I've played all the other Jumpstart games from 1st grade to 5th grade, so I haven't played that one unfortunately.

I'd also like to mention Reader Rabbit. He was awesome, particularly 2nd grade, simply because of the arcade feel and the castle fun we had.

I had a bunch of German games on math that don't deserve mentioning and the greatest game ever:

Explorapedia:

maxresdefault.jpg

Its about a space traveling frog that tells you about the various plants and animals of the earth.

Magic School Bus... I loved those series. Now, which of the games did you have? I had almost all of them, from Rainforests to Dinosaurs.

Educational games, eh?... Most of my time as a kid was spent playing those brilliant games by Humongous Entertainment... but I guess you could consider Putt Putt educational in a way. (Putt Putt Travels Through Time or even Putt Putt Saves the Zoo)

Also in the educational department, I will make a very honourable mention to Tonka Construction. This game was awesome and you did learn a fair bit from it (at a level a kid could understand of course.) My favourite part was when you had to build a road through a desert and it was actually pretty comprehensive too looking back at it now.

I had like 2 i think, Rainforest and the beneath the earth one or whatever.

I think those where the only two.. Although i'm not totally sure.

We use to watch that quite alot though as kids me and my bro.

My mom actually started saying "Seatbelts everybody!" when we got in the car.. ;p.

So yeah. I had my fair share of magical school buses and crazy teachers in my childhood.

I remember the Tonka games so much... Tonka Construction 2, Tonka Space Station, Tonka Racing... even Tonka Monster Trucks. Those were great games.

Medal of Honor. Hey, History counts too.

But on a related note, I hardly ever played educational games, but there was one that I always liked in 1st grade. I don't remember the name, but it was some math game that worked like a maze and each level would get harder.
