Is Sombra really dead?

In the show he's deader than dead that's been confirmed, but the comics have a great deal of fan service.

So, in a future arc it's not entirely impossible.

I love the comics so I hope that he actually does show up in them :P though I'm pretty sure he died along time ago then somehow came back in the show lol

I think his body is gone, like it was in the beginning of the first episode (S3), but his entity is still alive, and I think he's causing all sort of mayhem from behind the scenes. Like he drove Trixie insane with his magic powers, and he helped her get her hooves on the alicorn amulet.

How would the comics portray him? Would he be just a male version of Nightmare Rarity, or would he be every bit of the 'Crazy-Prepared' 'Trap Master' that he was in "The Crystal Empire"? And would he have more lines, or would he be an all-out 'Silent Antagonist' this time around?

I hope they don't make him like Nightmare Rarity...and just keep him the way he is as the prepared evil Sombra we all know...I didn't like the Nightmare Rarity part of the comic.

I'm pretty sure he's dead dead, he got blown up and unless the writers can come up with some incredibly convoluted story about his resurrection(which I doubt they will), he's staying that way.

Plus McCarthy already said he's staying dead

Do you watch the spin off of star wars, the clone wars? Because I think that the way darth maul who returned was portrayed in it would fit Sombra. Maul wanted revenge on obi wan so instead of just killing him he kills Obi wans love interest. Sombra should do something like that.

@What- That reminds me:

Remember Sidious vs. Maul & Savage? Evidently, someone at Silly Filly Studios ("Double Rainboom," "Snowdrop," etc.) does, because SFS' newest major project, "Fall Of The Empire," features Sombra vs. Celestia & Luna in an uncannily similar fight-scene (Sidious incapacitates Savage / Sombra incapacitates Luna; Sidious tortures Maul / Sombra tortures Celestia; etc.).

P.S.- Sam Witwer > Hayden Christensen.

The idea of a prominent antagonist being eliminated from any show is disheartening. It is much easier for the story to continue if the antagonist still holds a threat and it is a central idea that they may come back. This helps add to the story and helps to remind everyone that the show isn't perfectly nice and happy; it allows for more conflicts to keep the story going.

I agree.

Its better to have recurring villains rather than having tons of one shoot villains. If they keep on making new villains they will soon ran out of ideas and will be forced into making a villain a copypaste of another like how sunset was nightmare moon and chrysalis and trixie mixed into one.

This is the reason why Discord is a good villain. He had returned after being dealt with and is now "under control". While he may seem innocent now, there is always the opportunity for him to come back.

Its a problem both Chrysalis and Sombra suffer from, they are never mentioned after their defeat. I mean Chrysalis beaten up a semi god and yet nopony seems to even care after the wedding, heck she doesn't even need to return by herself, she could send a powerfull changeling to steal the EoH or something. And in Sombras case he enslaved an entire race and did really horrible things to them, yet we still don't have a crystal pony as a secondary character.

Both Sombra and Chrysalis and her army need to at least be mentioned in S4

At least there are references to Chrysalis in the comics. Not like that is a fair addition to them in association the show, but it works for me. Hopefully S4 will be more conflicting.

Come on it's called a cover up LOL.

Celestial is the number one being in Equistra (at least as far as ponies are concerned).

Correct me if i'm wrong but there are no "anti Celestial ponies."  they don't exist.

How would it do to let out some

"Changeling scum" beat our marvelous and dashing leader?

@What & Pomfritter-

Actually, Sombra did get ONE mention in "Games Ponies Play" (RD: "These Crystal ponies lost a thousand years to an evil king's curse."). It'd be nice to see/hear something about the changelings as well, though.

1) please stop using the word "LOL"

2) they could at least mention the fight, like how The mane six no longer think of celestia as an all mighty being or something. Its too much of a effective scene to never be mentioned again

3) even if they wont mention it at least show some changelings in the background of some episodes. At least the crystal empire appears a lot so its hard to forget about Sombra

1 Ha.

2 I for one would love to see it brought up, but i understand why that wouldn't be.  Why bringing it up would be a huge no no.

3 ^ ~ you think changelings aren't in the back ground?

come on that's like being in a RPG setting and say "I don't see the thieves."

Of course you don't see the changelings.

1)thats better

2)I don't understand why, it was a big emotional scene, so its impact should be big.

3) having a few changelings in the background as easter eggs would be nice and it would prevent Chrysalis from being forgotten about. At least we see the empire a lot so we can't forget about Sombra. Heck having chrysalis send a changeling who is powerful and smart enough to steal the EoH would be a nice episode

Having an obvious changeling in the background would be too obvious. It'd be something that the audience would expect the Mane 6 to pick up on. Now if there were two background ponies with the same design and color scheme with different cutie marks, that'd be an Easter egg that could hint at changelings still being around. Of course without proper addressing of this issue by someone in the show, it'd probably be seen as just an error by the viewer.

I'd also like to add that MLP:FiM already has a significant number of antagonists, especially considering we're only approaching on Season 4. It'd be a much more interesting plot if they'd pick main antagonists and keep them steady, such as Discord is.

Not aware of DBZ logic but I suppose you mean he can grow right out of that horn. In fictional magic terms he would be able to transfer his soul into the horn to escape a timely death. I do think his horn being the only part not disintegrating was hinting that he may return for an episode. In fact something tells me his horn was integral for his survival after Celestia and Luna banished him.

NMM was the tragic one

Discord was the funny one

Chrysalis was the anti hero one

Sombra was the pure evil

It would be hard to come up with something for the new villains. So they should just focus on these four.

I agree. But Discord seems to be the fan favorite since his episodes are fun and entertaining. I wouldn't mind seeing more of any of them, hell, even seeing them team up (which would be pretty unrealistic) would be fun to watch, especially with the conflicting personalities.
