I'm not sure about everyone else, but when I make a post, I tend to read over it many times, double check it, triple check it, quad-triple check it, etc...

Usually only when posting topics though.

How about everyone else? Are you very cautious when posting?

Oh gosh, I do this all the time. Often times you will see my posts get edited a lot because I don't like how something sounds after I have have had some time to think about it.

No, im not very cautious at all. I usually just like to get my thoughts down while theyre still fresh and let them be. Sometimes it results in some pretty dumb spelling mistakes though, maybe I should start reading them over before I post :o

Hmm depends on the post. If it's something that's kinda long, then I'll check it two or three times to look out for typos, grammar mistakes, and all that. If it's something short, then I usually tend to just look it over real quick and then click the submit button. Sometimes I still end up finding errors in some of my posts even after checking them D: and then I'll have to edit the post, which I hate because it marks the post as edited.

I constantly re-read anything I write to make sure it at the very least makes sense to me, I don't tend to check over spelling / grammar at all though

For those who read my posts often, you may notice that I end up editing almost all of them. This is because my keyboard is sub-par and this often leads to typos and missing letters in my posts. So in that sense, yes, I am cautious. After I post something I always reread it and adjust it if necessary.

Well I guess only for the topic to make sure its fine. For post I will sometimes or most of the time I will re-read to make sure its all good... like right now.

My reserved nature when it comes to posting is usually present in how selective I am about subjects I partake in. "Cautious editing" is more often a matter of proficiency and competence in grammar and spelling, which should be the status quo.

Cautious editing in my eye would more precisely refer to logic of cautious topic judgment such as selection of terms, references and citations when posting about sensitive or controversial topics. Inevitably, regardless of grammatical competences, someone fails to exercise cautious, or even sound judgment in such circumstances.

I am always careful about what I post. I start by making sure I have not included any personal information that I am not comfortable sharing. Once I check the content I go over the wording to ensure it conveys my message clearly and is not redundant. After that I check grammar and spelling. In the Debate Pit I make sure my wording is professional and my arguments are well developed.. In Forum Games I am more relaxed about using proper grammar, however, I generally only break rules if it is acceptable in colloquial English. I try to avoid the need to edit posts, but it is often inevitable. Typos, Spelling errors, and grammar mistakes I will edit; I usually only change the content if I feel that it varies significantly from what I am trying to communicate. The quality of the checks may be inconsistent, but they are always done.

I have to be vary cautious about what I post otherwise I might accidentally give away the dead bodies of the people I've killed and other important information that I may regret later on if people actually decide to take an interest in what I have to say.

Well, I tend to verify my posts for typos, or to verify my ideas. If it makes no sense, I try to explain it more detailed.

But well, it's usually when I post a new topic.

I'm not very cautious when I make posts at all. Most of the time, I just look for spelling typos before I post, but that's about it. Other than that, I'd just leave my post alone. Now if it was a roleplaying thread that would be different because I'm trying to be as vibrant and descriptive as I can be when I contribute to a story.

Half of my posts get edited at some point to correct a few minor spelling and grammatical errors, despite my best efforts to get it right the first time. Even if I see a post of mine with a problem from a year ago, I'm inclined to fix it. Can't abide these things. Although I do double and often triple-check things before submitting, some errors still manage to slip by.

I'm not cautious when I post. I say what I have to say and move on. I don't care what anyone else thinks. Their opinions are null and void in my mind. If they don't like my post, that is their problem, not mine.

I do check for spelling and grammar errors before I post though.

I usually always reread my post once or twice before posting it. I may even delete and rewrite it a few times depending on the topic/nature of the thread. I don't edit my posts a whole lot, but If I see something like an error in a previously posted message I'll definitely go back and fix it.

I'm a really cautious poster. Not only with spelling and grammar, but with the character limit as well, which makes posting a little difficult for me.

  • 6 years later...

Yes, absolutely cautions. I once spent 25 minutes with a post in the debate forum, realizing that I had built up hate and other things that wasn't really suited for me as a person, so I cancelled the post.

I'm pretty cautious about posts and I don't even start topics of my own. I used to post topics on another pony site before I came here and often got a lot of abuse and disrespect for it, so I don't post my own threads anymore. But when I post replies to other pony's threads I use caution not to start arguments because there are always certain ponies who are itching for a fight, or to act offended even when common sense tell them offense is unintended. I hate walking on eggshells when I post but I prefer a peaceful existence when I come to the forums. So, keeping it acceptable for all ages and maturity levels is something I take time and effort to achieve.
