Harmony or Hegemony?

If the Ponies are indeed the most magically powerful and militarily strong race of their world.

 

Should the Ponies remain in peace  and harmony with all the other sapient races and quite possibly militarily weaker races? Despite differences in attitude and culture, and be merciful if a race the Ponies were at war with surrenders and make peace with them. 

 

Or should they impose hegemony and destroy all the weaker races? Including aliens race they may meet in the universe, like; Humans, Krogans and Amphibiosans.

 

I'd say harmony, because I think as a stronger race you have the responsibility to protect, preserve and befriend races weaker than your own. For a bad  example, the Reapers from Mass Effect, instead of protecting, preserving and befriending weaker races they kill them all.

I say harmony because, even when your race is a stronger race than the weaker races you don't feel the need to conquer them unless they serve a need with a reliable resource that they can provide to you. Other than that, it's better to have harmony.

Harmony is the better option. Why have a world of war, when you can have one of friendship? As corny as that sounds, that's what I think. The ponies seem to get along with the other races just fine, so why change it?

Harmony but they should not be openly trusting other races, especially humans   they should proceed with extreme caution when dealing with other races otherwise there entire society could be corrupted or destroyed. Not to say all humans are bad or other races, but just look back at our history when dealing with people that are different. Didn't turn out so well.
