What's in the box? SPECULATION THREAD (S4 Premier Spoilers)

I think that they will link all the rainbow connection cliffhangers (like rainbow dash and rarity with rainbow in their eyes and the rainbow thread and what ever comes in the future. It is pretty obvious by now that every character is going to experience the rainbow eyes) to not what is inside the box, but how to open it. What is a big thing with a lot of story tellers? It's about the journey not the destination. If it all linked into what's in the box they will probably just open the box with actual keys, making the journey very uninteresting and I find this very unlikely, unless the rainbow connection somehow makes the keys, because it would be a boring story arc. think about it they will probably have to find 1 or 2 keys on the last episode or they would just open the box before the end episode(s), completely ruining the mystery and if they have to find the last key, it would just be a overly simple and maybe boring episode of them going on a journey to find something for the millionth time which would most likely end up with one of the mane 6 or more leaving the group (purposefully or non-purposefully) just like almost every adventure they have gone on to find something.

 

The rainbow connection could be linked to the episode where they realised they were friends before they met due to rainbow dash'a first sonic rainboom (the name of the episode eludes me at the moment) . Pretty unlikely though.

 

I also think the disaster will probably happen at the equestria games as it is a major event and the 2 story arcs are happening at the same time. However the equestria games story arc appears to have more focus at the moment, so it could just be a mid season story arc that ends half way into the season. However the Equestria games story arc could finish at the same time as the box story arc and they are focusing in the Equestria games story arc to reinforce my point about it not being about the destination, but it being about the journey.

 

As for what's inside the box I honestly don't have a clue. It could be the long lost heirloom for the equestria games, it could be the sword of holy titans, it could be more elements, it could e seeds to plant more trees of harmony, it could be an evil spirit, it could be absolutely any thing, or absolutely nothing.

 

This is all speculation though. Figuring this stuff out always interest me so I will be doing more digging tomorrow after school

 

 

NOTE: I don't think they will link flutterbat into the last episode because it seems like a completely different story arc IMO. Unless the cure her and that's how fluttershy experiences her "rainbow connection"

 

Also, what I want to happen is inside the box is a magical field that causes fluttershy to enter have her third and final transformation (her final form if you will). then flutterhulk and flutterbat to merge and kick some evil ass thousand year old dragon and have the children of the night help her. That's just what I want though

 

Also, please forgive any gramma and spelling mistakes as I am writing this at 1am and on my ipad and I was trying to get all my ideas onto the page before I forgot them, I still forgot a few points that, If I remember, I will update it.

any way i don't have a clue what the next object will be but i have a sneaking suspicion it will go Apple Jack next after a look at the season list for the next episodes however i could be wrong in the way they have done the order and they could jump to Twilight next instead. you can see it here they brake the episodes up.

Personally, due to the fact that we've been seeing so much rainbow activity related to the keys, I think the box hold the Rainbow of Light.  In case no one else knows what that is, back in Generation 1 of MLP, whenever the ponies would go up against someone really powerful, they would release the Rainbow from a heart shaped locket and it would battle whatever dark forces were attacking them.

 

That's just my guess though, and I could be way off the mark though, lol.

 

The idea of them all becoming alicorns is interesting, but I kinda hope they don't do it.  Pinkie has enough god like powers, don't you think?  LOL

At the start I initially believed that the remainder of the Mane 6 would become alicorns upon the opening of the box, but now I'm beginning to think the Rainbow Power/Rainbow of Light theories are more likely given the rainbow connection with the "keys". Still, it could be both!

I never saw that pattern, but what are the items for? I just thought of a theory. They could not need anything physical to open the box and they will all see their items individually and will connect to open the box. Remember when AJ was saying about the elements keeping them connected? And twilight gave that speech in the premier of this season? That could be linked to the box and them all finding out they became better ponies thanks to their friends. All their rainbow connections so far have come from them realising they hurt their friends so the corrected their ways. This leads me to believe that it will be 1 item to defeat evil that they all wield. Kinda like a super element of harmony on steroids

Though the thought of it being the object then made me think that that would mean they would have to carry a large box around to fight evil seems a little bit to far fetched, but the same could be said about an element on steroids.

 

I have a feeling it will be an item for each of them but the big issue is the box is not that large, Unless it has something like the Tardis, However it has become increasingly more difficult to judge the size of the box when we have only seen it once...I mean that literally we haven't seen the box since it came in to Twilight's possession.

 

This has also lead me to believe that Twilight will defiantly be the last pony to get a key. It gives her a chance to discover the item she is given for whatever reason is actually a key so she can also make the link to all the other gifts.

 

However I cant help feeling that Herobrony 27 is right and it is one item they all waled there is just something in my gut that says that's right but I cant shake the fact that there is just one item in the box...unless once again it is the box.

I just read this and something just snapped in my mind. What if they have done that. what if in some cruel plot to get us all thinking what it could be it actual is the original locket and they are going back to there roots of My Little Pony.

 

However once more this raises another issue with this possibility. the Locket was handled by humans in generation one My Little Pony, though now there are non i think a pony could quite easily use a locket without human aid.

Well while Megan had possession of the locket, they didn't need her apparently.  When Wind Whistler showed up to get the locket from her, she told Megan to stay behind, because it was too dangerous.

It could be multiple objects, because the elements can change shape, so why couldn't there be tiny objects in the box that when they take it out it gets bigger. Or it could be a magical aura that creates objects.

I'm also thinking that they might not got something that is permanent. that was always an issue for me that when ever they got in trouble they would just use the elements. I know in the season 2 finale they didn't use them and they have made it difficult for them to get to on multiple occasions but how many more ways can they make it a story worth watching with the elements, it will just start repeating its self eventually. That is why I think the writers got Reid of the elements in the first place. So it could be some form of friendship boost or any thing that isn't permenant. Also the opening of the box could be linked to the physical items that have experienced the rainbow connection and what's in the box could be what is linked to their rainbow connection

i do agree with the fact that they got rid of the elements and tried to make it hard for them to get at times, Changlings and Discord maze and so on however if it is an object that combined they can wield that makes it like the elements again because they cant use the elements unless they are in tune with them and they are together. i can grantee it is not wings and horns for all because they would become off balance i mean imagine them all as alicorns.

I have to agree Pinkie has some impossible ability's. In "Griffin the Brushoff" Pinkiy Pie Keeps up with Rainbow Dash,she also has crazy flying machines. in a party for one she is faster or as fast as Rainbow Dash and knows were she is going to hide before Dash her self knows. then there is her Pinkie seance. and in Equestria girls (yes i watched it and i liked it) both the human and pony Pinkie knew the truth even though there was no possible way she could have known. also only Pinkie could be pulled in to a comic and then jump out but not before garbing Cupcakes from the comic book bakery.

 

If she became an alicorn Equestria wouldn't be able to cope with not only God like power but comic book style power ether.

 

also as a point imagine rainbow Dash with a horn or Fluttershy at that matter she would be scared of it and scared of using it were Rainbow would probably do nothing with it. we all saw what append when Rarity had wings for a bit and Apple Jack just would not look as cool as an alicorn. i like her down to earth attitude rather then her head in the clouds.

If the series is going to last 5-6 seasons, which I think it will, it would be ok for it to be a one use object at the end of each season. But if the series lasts 7+ seasons, which I hope it does, it will just start feeling pointless, because there will be no mystery. It will also take away anything unique about them. This is because most people, I know I would, would be thinking "they are going to get something that will defeat it agian, then it'll disapear, and they will be sad...again". I think it would just be too repetitive like the elements started to be. Congrats to the writers though for making them looses the elements at just the right time. So, it all depends on how long the series lasts.

I agree with you but to add to that the tree was there long before Celestia or Luna. The tree was also grown with the elements on it.

 

That means the tree had the chest also the tree has markings on it. Luna, Celestia and Twilight Sparkles. There marking were on the tree and if my memory serves me well the markings were on the tree when they took the elements off the tree.

 

So I don't think Celestia and Luna put the chest there.
