Things you don't understand about the opposite gender?

Zygen

Recommended Posts

This is just a random thread idea coming from my incredibly random brain today, maybe more will pop up. who knows ;p.

Basically its a pretty simple thread, just kinda post maybe something about the opposite gender of your own that you don't really get. I guess something thats typical of the other gender most of the time, that you don't understand why.

I'm not entirely sure if this is going to be something with a bunch of questions or not, but oh well figured i'd see what happens ;p.

I guess you could ask anything really, just stay away from stuff that would end up making things NSFW obviously ;p.(Frankly the answer to that type of stuff could be found on google probably ;p.)

And maybe you can even have someone answer your question, or maybe prove some kind of thing you thought was true false, idk however it works out ;p.

Other then that try not to turn this into any gender fights, we're all humans here alright biggrin.png?

Um... I guess thats it ;p. Hopefully this topic goes, somewhere, and well if not then its just another random topic that came from the thoughts of my random mind... Randomly...

Yay for rambling ;p.

post away everypony!

Sadly I think I know to much.

Welcome to biology and pysch class...

Edit: well I should state a point. I'm probably the only one that pays attention in these classes xD

My high school science teacher once said, "There are only three kinds of men who don't understand women: young, middle-aged, and old"

Really, I think I know a few things about women but I'm doubtful I'll ever fully comprehend why they do certain things.

Like wear uncomfortable clothes just to look good. I'll definitely be comfortable before I look good although both would be prefereable

;p, Idk, i don't really know if theres a whole ton about women i don't understand, i mean theres some things, but meh idk ;p. I understand some of it but i don't.

And yeah, i don't get the clothes thing either myself. Stuff like higheels doesn't make sense to me, i asked a girl i'm friends with that before and she just said she liked to feel tall.

Personally as someone whos like 5'9 or so, i don't see whats so special about being tall, maybe i just don't appreciate it enough dunno.

Yeah i'm a sophomore ;p.

And i've never dissected anything, and frankly i don't want to. At all.

And idk if i lose points, i'd much rather lose points then end up embarrassed because i throw up or something.

Not to mention i actually have a pretty big fear when it comes to body parts in general, well mostly internal stuff, but yeah. Its a pretty bad deep rooted fear of mine.

But anyways, i guess thats a bit off topic ;p.

The fascination some woman have with gay men(specifically befriending a gay man and wearing it like a badge of honor and treating him as a trusted adviser with all the answered). I was listening to two woman talk in a waiting room and one of them identified someone she was referring to only as "my gay friend"

Yeah, it does seem women take a liking to gay's. I guess the fact they don't have to worry about them falling in love with them plays some part in it.

It seems a bit inconsiderate to refer to them as "My gay Friend" though.

thats my thoughts to how i've always explained it to myself ;p.

I have always been baffled as to why the female mind is so susceptible to preconceived notions of cultural beauty and why women spend hundreds of dollars in the lifetimes in a vain attempt to replicate it. It seems, and I don't meant to be insulting here, but it seems shallow and makes me think that a lot of women don't had very much self confidence. I think that women shouldn't have to be so pressured to "look beautiful" and waste both genders time so they can look good.

There isn't much I already know, I guess I've never understood how women seem to go through many mood changes. I thing that's because they go through having periods. It seems like it hurts a lot, so I think I understand. Women do go through a lot we don't have to and we couldn't possibly relate to.

I don't know, there isn't much I don't understand about them. They can be rather mysterious but in the end, they are just like us.

The female fascination with shoes but their disgust at feet. My mom once explained it to me as "well, it's because the shoes hide the feet". Yep, still don't get it. You can hide the feet, but that doesn't mean the feet aren't there. Guess I'll never understand that one.

I guess I don't really get why some men have to act like "manly" men all the time. Also, it bugs the hell out of me when I see men trying to be better than the other constantly...life isn't a competition. Just admit that one of you is obviously better than the other and move on with your life.

I feel like i understand most things about them, but i'm sure thinking about it enough i'll run into things i don't. And maybe never will. Unless i somehow magically become a women ;p.

And frankly even as a guy I go through a bunch of mood swings, so frankly if i was a girl i'd be quite the terror ;p.

Actually i'm pretty sure the mood swings if i remember correctly are caused more by hormones shifts then anything else, and guys have shifts in hormone levels to, just without the other effects girls get.

So technically guys would get mood swings from hormones.

However yeah girls do go through alot of pain with theirs it seems, and i won't reject that.

Although i really don't like when some women rub it in other men's face's. Like they make themselves better and that we don't have problems as men just because we don't deal with physical pain like birth and stuff.

Honestly i feel like so ticked off when they do that, they say that being a guy is so so much easier and guys don't have problems because they don't have to deal with birth and the other stuff.

Sorry to any girls, but it ticks me off, I understand that it is painful and all, but some girls are really freaking prissy about it, atleast some at my school. Makes them seem like they're saying that we could never deal with it, and it makes me want to somehow prove them wrong so much :/.

You know i actually could've sworn i heard theres some kind of thing you can do where they can wire you up to apparently simulate birth pains..

I have no idea where i remember that from though lol.

But yeah, sorry for the rant i got carried away.

And yeah, we are pretty similar overall, but there is always those smaller questions about the differences between us that some people ask. Even if some aren't even real assumptions.

I have also wondered why women take so long in the bathroom, because i know sitting to go does not add that much time ;p.

One of my girl friends explained it to me in a way that makes sense though, she said that because most girls in the bathroom are like "OH MY HAIR" ;p.

I laughed, sorry but i did. Although i have a feeling theres some merit to it.

But yeah, besides some random biological differences, i'm not sure how different we are exactly.

Some things are just sterotypes, or stuff that different genders do because its taught for them to do or act that way.

I freely admit having a mild to moderate shoe mania, but I don't feel disgusted over feet.

Well, i guess its because shoes are generally more nice to look at then plain feet, which isn't considered as pretty i guess.

Well, as a guy, its just kind of one of those things thats enforced on your since your born. Atleast for me thats how it was, i felt i was taught to be more manly generally. Stuff like crying was considered girly.

And stuff like that just gets enforced more into society to where your basically considered an outcast for not following the "laws" of society. So therefore since nobody wants to feel outcasted or get made fun of they all act more manly i guess.

Depending on what you mean by manly though, i'm not a super manly man in my own eyes ;p.

And idk about the competition thing, i mean i'm a competitive person, but thats more a personality thing for me. And i'm only competitive with certain things, if i know i am not great at something, then normally i'm not competitive, infact I have pretty low self confidence frankly with it.

Maybe its just guys play sports and stuff alot since they're young, and develop that competitive thing more then girls, i'm not sure really ;p. I know some pretty competitive girls honestly.

Ooo! Ooo! I know the answe to this one! It's instinctual. We guys are hardwired to compete with each other to try to impress the ladies for a chance at "passing on our genes" to use a biological euphemism. It's the same reason why rams and deer butt heads, except humans are more evolved and so human males "butt heads" in different ways (and sometimes the literal ways). Whether it's in video games or a hotdog eating contest, testosterone forces us to try to come out on top to impress a girl. Even if it doesn't work in the end.

That sounds like the correct biological reasoning for that ;p. I don't know why i didn't think of that frankly, most of these questions could honestly probably be answered simply with something like "Hormones" ;p.

And you'd be right most of the time.

but yeah, dunno why i didn't think of this, i guess i wasn't thinking in quite the scientific manner on this.

Some things I don't get about women

  • Why do they go crazy over celebrities, singers, and people in bands?
  • How can they watch those Housewives shows? I'd go mad if I had to watch them.
  • I don't get the whole shoe thing. I can see owning a pair, or two, and maybe even three but some girls have way too many shoes.
  • I don't get their fascination with the "bad boys".
  • My mom complains, and rants way too much. I hope all women aren't so annoying.
  • Why are their hands so perfect for making sandwiches? (Just a joke)

I don't understand why girls have to play with other people's feelings. I don't understand why girls have to set such extreme and impossible standards. I don't understand what their deal is. I could go on, but there are far too many things I will never understand about them.

I don't get their fascination with the "bad boys".

Me neither. Especially since when they dump them because of how those guys are, they continue going out with those kind of guys...I don't even.

A man's answer- Everything.

One thing I don't get is how most (teenage) guys feel such a need to swear all the time. I know it probably makes them feel more 'manly' but it's not getting them any decent girls.
