I would have to side with the Unicorns, due to the consensus that magic overrides all other abilities. Also for everyone that keeps mentioning Pegasi and their ability to control the weather, we do have reference to an unicorn controlling the weather in Rarity, albeit rather badly, in Magical Mystery Cure. Though it is important to note, that prior to that day Rarity had no experience controlling the weather, so one must wonder what an unicorn could do if they purely focused their talents into learning how to control the weather.

That's tricky to answer. I guess it all comes down to personal opinion. Alicorns would be valued as great allies for any side, so I don't think there would be any objections if they took a side in the war. So, I guess it comes down to which army the alicorn decides to side with. Whether it be joining willingly or being tortured, restrained, and forced to fight for that side. That or the alicorns decide to hide and wait out the war.

I think that the main responsibility of Celectia is to prevent similar conflicts between races. So if war between races exist, then power of Celrstia means nothing.

I don't pick sides for such things, unless one or more of them are quite clearly acting maliciously. In a conflict such as this, I doubt there'd be such a thing as "good guys" and "bad guys", so I'd be forced by principle to remain neutral. If any side begins committing atrocities, my opinion would be swayed and I'd join the side against them. But, again, I doubt such things would happen.

 

For the sake of the poll, I'm going with Unicorns under the assumption that their magic would be put to a good use.
