'Joining the herd' possibly...

My internet alias is Hamud, and after countless nudges from my friends to actually give the MLP show a shot, I finally gave in and decided to see what the ruckus was about.

 

I have recently renewed my netflix account and for the next month i'm going to be watching the series all the way through, and I won't stop until I get to the most recent episode, whether or not I actually take to it.

 

As for this 'brony' part, I am indeed an 18 year old male, with work and college and everything, so yeah, let's see how this goes. Hello everyone!

You have certainly got some catching up to do, but no worries when I first got into the show season 2 had already ended and we were waiting on season 3. I burned through quite a few episodes in a short amount of time, and once season 3 started kept up with every new episode. Welcome, most of the people here are pretty chill so there is a good chance you will like it here.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. On ep. 4, and so far i'm interested, i'm actually quite surprised at how it's going. It's hard to explain, but it does feel a bit more sophisticated than its main demographic would suggest, even if the plots are a bit simplistic.

I guess i'll update considering a few people have asked me, so here's how it's going so far: I've just got to episode 12, haven't watched it yet, but I don't want to marathon the whole show in a single day either, I'd like some time to soak it in like I do with any show I watch. One of the biggest enticements of MLP so far is that they haven't done any odd one-off episodes, meaning I like the fact that each episode has a completely valid conflict/adventure that keeps you hooked, and that's something I always enjoy in a show.

 

As for details, i'm really liking Twilight's character the most at the moment, but that's probably because i've always had a hankering to the most sane/main characters in shows (I play as main characters the most in most video games too). That being said... Rainbow Dash is pretty sweet. She gives me those epic sort of, Dragonball Z-like feels that I used to get, which is sadly lost on many shows today. Though, I do have one question: There was a clip of MLP that I watched before on youtube where RD has this huge explosion from flying really fast, like a double rainbow something-or-other, what episode is that so I can anticipate it? >.>

 

Besides that, it's going good. I can't wait to watch more later, especially the season finales/openers because i'm a sucker for story arcs (as opposed to one-episode plots). I might just be a brony already...

I think you may be thinking of Sonic Rainboom, the sixteenth episode of season one.

That's an episode where she does the rainboom for the first time, I believe.

I haven't seen season one in a long time.

It is episode 16 "Sonic Rainboom" which shares the same name as the event itself. It is mentioned again in episode 23 Cutie Mark Chronicles where we hear the mane 6's cutie mark origin stories. The Sonic Rainboom is also seen once more in the season 2 finale. It is interesting how you feel about main characters because I am actually the opposite, I don't usually find them as interesting as the others. I like Twilight but didn't really start to love her until a bit later, but have loved Applejack since the start. You might like Applejack as well, Applejack tends to be pretty level headed most of the time but alot of people think she is the "boring one" unfortunately so she is ridiculously underrated.

Oh yeah, applejack was next in line, honestly. I'm a bit backwoods myself until I forced my way out of there with computer tech and college and whatnot, plus my favorite color is orange, though that's a pretty juvenile reason. I think it stands though!

I didn't know what it was that made me like Applejack at first but it didn't take long for the reasons to pile up, I started to love Twilight when I realized just how much I have in common with her and she became my second favorite and then tied with Applejack and Luna for my favorite. Trivial or not though we all have our reasons and with how early you are into the series it is likely you will have more reasons as you continue watching.
