I thought it was  great episode. the song is my favorite so far, and I loved the humor, especially Goldie Delicious(Not Golden Delicious, people) and the end where Pinkie was mocking the Apples and saying "Argue argue argue, Bicker bicker bicker."

That was one of favorite parts and Pinkie Pie was sheer gold in this episode. I also felt like she had importance unlike a few episodes lately when she was just there as a comic relief and didn't add on to the episode's lesson or plot in any way.

Regarding how season four is shaping up so far, I've noticed something. I score every episode on a ten point scale and in this season there has yet to be any episode that has scored for me anything but a six or a seven. My mind could change about any of these few episodes, it's often hard to make up my mind and my opinion doesn't always stay the same. But for right now I don't see any episode I would call bad although neither do I see any episode I can fully endorse as great. I thought maybe Bats! was it, but that episode had some problems. Princess Twilight Sparkle and Rarity Takes Manehattan come closer.   

 

Anyway, as for this episode, it was good. It was nice to see the Apple family and Pinkie interacting, much as it was nice to see Fluttershy and Applejack interacting in Bats!. Lots of small moments to appreciate, a good musical number, a good moral, and a general sense of fun all add up to a solid episode.

This episode was a waste of plot.

 

Had a poorly made slapped on message at the end and made the journey unnessacary to have. The beginning was to rushed and could of had some development done to it before it got onto the actual plot. The family trip was un-needed, why couldn't applejack simply walk over there herself and check if pinkie was a member, The dust could of been easily wiped off the book. And the biggest problem is that pinkie could of easily not been a  member of the apple family. So it technical terms she is using applejack to supply and help her by assuming that the apple's are her family.

Poorly made slapped on message? I thought that the message was brilliant and something a lot of us could relate to! I was always a little skeptical of the fact that the apples always seem to get along (with the exception of AJ and AB in Bridle Gossip). My family always struggles to get along and I was curious as to how the apples never fought. I was glad we got to see a different side of the apples and have a great lesson about family. For someone who usually doesn't care for anything Apple family related, I must admit that this was actually half-decent; the humor was good, the story and plot points were fairly solid, and it had a very nice lesson attached to all of it.

 

Strangely though, I really don't care for the song. Most MLP music is gold, but this one just doesn't strike me as such.

I agree on pretty much everything you said. Flight to the Finish still holds the title of best episode of season 4 for me. I don't know if anyone though this was weird, but I found it quite interesting that Pinkie's tail took the picture at the end. Oh Pinkie, you never cease to make me laugh. My favorite part was the Pinkie Pie duckface. Priceless! This episode falls into my number 2 or three 3 spot. Can't decide which is better, Rarity Take Manehatten or this episode?

And to those of you that took an issue with Slendermane (you know who you are), who cares that they referenced him in this?  It only lasted for a second and was obviously just a joke, not some major plot point for you to build your whole life on.  True fans can understand it and take it as a joke, which is what it was intended as.

My word! It was a nice episode but that song. THAT SONG! I can't get it out of my head. That chorus keeps playing and playing and playing. And the more it plays, the more I want to listen to it again! I attribute it to Applejack and Apple Bloom's singing voice. I love that harmonious country twang. But it's stuck in my head and won't leave.

I think they made a few nods to the fandom, but it was much more obvious in other episodes that they were specifically targeting the fandom with various references, just for the sake of catering to the bronies.  I'm much more inclined to think that their references and brony jokes were more subtle this time around, while keeping the episode centered on the more core message of the series.

do you realize that mlp is a show made primarily for kids and that priority will not change? It means that there can't be any complicated plots and episodes are pretty much SoL situations, since the very beginning.

 

I can't even say that your whole analysis is 'wrong', because it's so ridiculous and nearsighted and the one assuming things it's you, not the characters.

Of all the gibberish that you said I can only consider the pacing, which could have been a bit rushed in the beginning, but in my personal opinion I didn't really mind, it was perfect for me.
