Ezynell 2,037 March 6, 2012 Share March 6, 2012 I find the irony quite hilarious. Even if I looked upon it with disgust, there's really nothing that can be done on the terms of getting them removed. GAK
WildCard 1,037 March 6, 2012 Share March 6, 2012 I personally think Shed.mov was totally horrible because the humour was so bad(a bit like in those crappy parodies of the Scary Movie makers) but everybody has a different taste in humour. What really bothers me is the references some Bronies bring everytime, it's soooo annoying and not even funny. Also I think it's funny how so many bronies seems to be cool with shed.mov, but don't want a southpark parody of mlp(I don't want both of them) OC was made by Princess Ariona. Once something got views everyone else was doing it. EVERYONE. If it's a series there's an Abridged for it. Even Legion of Superheroes. It's not even about being funny anymore it's about getting views and things like Shed.move and abridged series ARE NOT FUNNY ANYMORE. It gets old, so effing old that you wanna scream. Osaka Bomb 39 March 6, 2012 Share March 6, 2012 Honestly, I'm so used to more innocent shows having dark and twisted parodies of it. I mean, the whole grimdark thing is kind of a standard. Sometimes it irks me, yeah, because I didn't like Cupcakes very much. And I understand the want to keep the show's innocence. But, honestly, I love the .MOV series. There is nothing wrong with not liking those things. But, I don't know, that's what I sort of like about the brony community (and, well, any fandom in general, I suppose) is that the creativity is varied and unique. I mean, some of the original songs that people make have taken more innocent aspects of the show and put a dark twist on them. Off the top of my head, two examples are Rainbow Factory and Want It, Need It. I love both of those songs, but they are pretty dark interpretations of things in the show. Sometimes I guess you could consider it a little "too far", but I like that variety. I don't mind darker interpretations of innocent shows, though sometimes it does irk me that people seem to think dark = brutal violence. I guess my point is people show their love for something in different ways that will seem strange to others. I think that's perfectly okay. Though, I definitely wouldn't want kids to see those things. Not until they're older, at least, should they even want to see them. Anyway. That's my two cents? Sandwhisper 33 March 6, 2012 Share March 6, 2012 Honestly I don't mind most of those videos. Sure, it's kinda odd, but every fan base has that side. I find Shed.mov funny. :L Now, it's not like we can stop everyone from doing that sort of parody. It's just in people's nature. If there was a way to keep kids from viewing that stuff, it'll be safer.
Eenohay 318 March 6, 2012 Share March 6, 2012 Oh my oh my oh my! I've never seen this shed thingy or any of the .mov, because the drawing makes me wanna puke, and I was damn right, it does make you wanna puke. I barely could stand a minute. It just makes me think how the hell can anybody like that shit?! I'm sorry, but it sucks way to much. KILL IT! KILL IT WITH FIRE! About cupcakes and the whole of the gore thing, and I can't criticize much. Cupcakes isn't very good, but I'm a big fan of some dark ask blogs, like little miss rarity or pinkamena diana pie. They are quite entertaining
Victoria and Co. 782 March 6, 2012 Share March 6, 2012 I agree with what your saying, but I do find the .mov videos enjoyable. Why, you may ask? Well because they remind my that I'm a fan of an awesome show that doesn't need the gore, sexual references, and stupidity to be awesome! The simple fact that the .mov videos are a complete contrast from the actually show just makes me revel in the fact that the show is as good as it is, and it doesn't even use the overused, outdone, stupid jokes, situations, and gags that most cartoons do now a days! As for the grimdark fanfictions, I don't mind them if they are well written, but otherwise my opinion is a slightly altered version of the above! This is something I do? This is something I do. SailorCardKnight 85 March 6, 2012 Share March 6, 2012 I've seen parodies of Sesame Street, Teletubbies, and Dora the Explorer that involved gore, a character becoming a mass murderer, and drug usage. My point is, no matter the series, even the most innocent, you are going to see content like this. While I agree with the idea that such content so easily available isn't such a good idea, and that perhaps the fanbase should tone it down a bit, kids shouldn't be online unsupervised anyways. Then those who are just simply casual non-MLP adult viewers, yes it would give some people the wrong idea about us, but at the same time it gives people the impression that we are not a bunch of sissies who prefer innocent stuff like tea parties, rainbows and the color pink. Then anybody with a brain and/or has been on the internet long enough will understand these are just popular parodies from the twisted minds of some fans, and that MLP:FiM now has such fan content like every other popular series out there. Personally, I'd say bring on the gore, I can handle gore. I'd rather see that than what went on on the internet back when Sailor Moon was at its height of popularity. No matter where you went on the internet, and every time you went and searched for pictures, there where creepy older men posting porno pictures and fanfics of the Sailor Senshi. You couldn't escape it, no matter how hard you tried to avoid it. The most disturbing part is that most of the girls in that show are underage! It also appears another series in the same similar vein as Sailor Moon, Pretty Cure, has fallen to the same fate. *shudder* I'm glad ponies haven't had the same problem with rule 34....yet. 1 Want to start a webcomic, looking for an artist, details here! Daring Do 195 March 6, 2012 Share March 6, 2012 Well, people have different opinions on limits. As for those who created Cupcakes, Rainbow Factor, .mov's, and others, their limits may be higher than the mean of the fandom... There isn't really much people can do, with all the "cannot unsee" and all. With that said, I guess there is purpose to Love and Tolerance, DON'T LOSE THESE VALUES! Trixies Apprentice L 493 March 6, 2012 Share March 6, 2012 You make some good points but just because things that you believe ruin the show exist is bad doesnt make it a fact. Sure many people liked the .mov series. i liked the .mov series and for what someone said before unlike what others may think I would love a south park MLP parody. because in the end it just that a parody it is not meant to be taken seriously. It was made for fun and for your argument about teenagers like gore stuff that why this happens that kinda wrong too cause there are many movies out there adrresed to adults that have much gore and adults like them. Gore is something someone at every age can like not a teenage thing. As for the gore fictions most of the are very badly written like cupcakes i can't believe how can anyone find it disturbing or scary or you know take them seriously but that my opinion on the matter Clop fics are something that even if bronies never existed it would exist Rule 34 you can fight it seriosuly I saw in a cracked article saying about the most inoccent searched in google that came out wrong with safe search off the guy searched inspector gadgets and yea you can guess what they saw from the above. I do agree that the gore strays away from the series but It is possible to like both things and really this is the least thing that gives us a bad image Btw I know we are not saints in this fandom but compared to other fandoms I have been part too I dare say this one is one of the better ones ~In construction~
Broccoli 127 March 8, 2012 Share March 8, 2012 MLP by its nature is a wonderful and innocent show intended for a young audience. I do believe gory fanfics or videos do ruin people's impressions on the show. Some is fine, but then many videos like that is just over the top. Please keep in mind there are many young children, younger than us, who would search up MLP on youtube, and watch which ever has the most views. We have to be responsible in our actions and be good role models. -"My little pony, not yours!"
Queen Cassie 3,057 March 8, 2012 Share March 8, 2012 I'm not going to argue that it should be censored and physically removed. I am against that on principle, because I don't approve of censorship in the least. But I am also not going to refrain from referring to Cupcakes, to SHED.MOV, and other things like it as what they are: disgusting, hateful trash that offers up nothing positive for the community as a whole. I really do not like this sort of content. It's sickening and awful. I have not nor will I ever willingly watch SHED.MOV. I haven't seen DRESS.MOV either, while we're on that subject. APPLE.MOV was enough to keep me from ever being willing to watch the others. And yet, as stated by others, it's not surprising. This sort of stuff is going to be produced. It's only natural. And you know what? If you honestly enjoy that stuff, then fine. More power to you. Just please don't talk about it everywhere. Don't constantly shove it in my face, or bring it up on everything, referencing it in the stupidest of places, because I don't appreciate it and don't like to hear about it. I like my utopia fantasy world that is Equestria. Please don't ruin it for me. 2 Used to be known on here as Kyronea. Want to read psychological analyses of the Mane Six? Start here. Envoy-in-exile 101 March 8, 2012 Share March 8, 2012 (edited) I'm getting extremely lazy nowadays, substituting tldrs with one-liners. Anyways this is what I have to say on the subject: This is the internetz I do find references to shed.mov or dress.mov rather amusing; but as for the gory parts of the videos themselves, I'm not a fan. Yes, I am a horror fan, but I prefer the ghosties to the choppies. In either case, I have somehow managed to compartmentalize the less savory parodies on the internet to the folder marked "Internetz" on my mind, and the nicey bits to the "Equestria" folder Edited March 8, 2012 by Envoy-in-exile

Fire_Fly 499 March 8, 2012 Share March 8, 2012 I think anything that makes it onto the internet/goes viral is bound to be turned into something completely opposite of what it really is; it's just a matter of time. MLP isn't the first children's show to be transformed into something it's not, and you can find a recorded reading of any given gory fanfiction on youtube these days. To be totally honest, if kids don't stumble upon something offensive that's MLP related, chances are they stumble onto something MUCH worse. I've got an idea! No..... No, wait; it's just a concussion....
Kyreth 194 March 8, 2012 Share March 8, 2012 That stuff isn't really for me but I don't mind it. The show is still beautiful and innocent, the fan stuff that is not is entirely separate from it in my mind. It is a fair point that the stuff on youtube and other sites can affect people's opinions of Bronies in general but that's not our problem. People will think what they are going to think, if they want to judge us based on a minority that's up to them. I can't make signatures. RippedOffMattress 314 March 9, 2012 Share March 9, 2012 I for one do not mind of the gore reputation. Sure it dosen't much fit into the pony name, but then again, I'm just a rowdy teenager who enjoys most gore, and gore-related properties. When I saw the title though, I thought you'd mention the REAL problems with the fanbase. Like how there's too much porn, the whole Derpy fiasco, how most bronies can't get along not just with haters, but with other bronies as well, and how we're so whiny and immature about certain things. (Like Derpy) Seriously though, people are starting to say we're not only more immature than furries, but that we're more immature than SONIC FANS! Who are mostly famous FOR their immaturity! Doctor XFizzle 8,669 March 9, 2012 Share March 9, 2012 (edited) Haven't read through the whole topic so this might have been said by someone, but the .MOVs and things like Cupcakes I feel are part of the lunatic fringe of the fanbase. http://en.wikipedia..../Lunatic_fringe I learned of this term from the sports radio I listen to daily and the occasional superfans or fans with really nonsensical ideas/predictions given this label. The lunatic fringe is the small handful of MLP fans who delight and indulge in the wacky and insane. These might be popular videos or pictures but they should not be seen as a legitimate representative of the fanbase and what the fanbase stands for.
