My favorite name that I've encountered in a video game that I can think of at the moment is Swap Mete Pete from Croc 2. I started playing that game before I knew how to read, and still enjoy it to this day.

Strangely I love a lot of the maverick names from the Megaman X series, even if admittedly they don't sound very interesting or clever. Granted, I think the names sound better after I see what the maverick looks like:
