Do you believe Princess Celestia is invincible or not? 

 

I believe Princess Celestia is not invincible, (However some fans do think she is) for she almost died at hooves of Queen Chrysalis and Nightmare Moon. Which also means then same thing would happen if she faced another being just as powerful or more powerful than herself from the show's canon itself.

 

It doesn't even have to a Pony or a Human Gary Stu and Mary Sue, whom literally have the power to destroy the entire universe if they wanted. It could just be another being like Queen Chrysalis or a very a powerful magical Human or other being from some LOTRO or Dungeons & Dragons like universe. 

 

 

Or do you believe she is invincible and nothing is more powerful?

I'd love to hear the arguments saying she is. The only times we know of that she's ever fought someone by herself, she's lost against Chrysalis, presumably lost against Nightmare Moon offscreen in the pilot episodes, and was losing against her in the flashback before she whipped out the Elements. She was also unable to to anything when Discord broke loose and was powerless against a bunch of seeds he planted a thousand years ago. For such a powerful being, Celestia's got a remarkably poor record . But then again, plot demands it and such.

Despite her being a very powerful Alicorn, she may be immortal (in terms of not aging) but she can die. Alot of people think that since she can survive NMM, Chysalis, or Discord she is invincible as well as controlling the sun. Simply this is not the case in my opinion as many times she was overpowered. Even with the elements, in some of my threads she would fall to higher being from outside games such as Mortal Kombat like Noob and Ermac who have immense powerful magic and control of reality way more than what Dicord is capable of. Even with the Elements of Harmony and being banished to the moon, they could just re-teleport back and finish her off with all of the power of the nether realm.

 

Also, I have discussed with others that even though she has dealt with much attacks towards here, nothing comes close to the power of a Supernova, Super Volcanic Eruption, Nuclear Explosion of close to 100 Megatons, or other Extinction level event that would literally vaporize her. Sure she might be very powerful, but she is still flesh and a living organism that may be immortal but not invincible and can still be killed with things that Equestria has never seen.

 

I encourage you to check out my most recent threads (Ermac/Noob Vs Celestia) and (Are the Alicorns Truly Immortal) relating to this topic as well and I would love for you to comment. I have also included videos showing the overwhelming disaster they would be facing and most likely would not survive No Elements of Harmony would save them from an Extinction level type event

 

Here are the things she may be facing in a natural disaster scenario. Keep in mind the volcanic eruption from vesuvius was as strong as thousands of nuclear weapons, while a super eruption was close to millions of nukes going off at once.

Bah! Princess Celestia can whip those saiyans and any DBZ character any day, except Majin Buu.

 

Now DC or Marvel.... that's another story. Villians like Weapon 11, Silver Surfer, and Iron Monger have the strength and cunning skill to kill her in close (or ranged) combat, whereas ones like Galactus or Thanos can literally destroy her sun as well as the entire pony planet. How about Micheal or Lucifer from Supernatural? I doubt she could trump the most powerful archangels in existence.

 

Really are all unfair fights since The Princess is a charismatic and intelligent leader of a peaceful world, not a warrior.

Not even close! I mean discord could probably kill her with the snap of his fingers if he wanted too, and heck, just recently we found out that Discord is also far from invincible as well, due to the fact that he actually got sick, meaing he might be able to alter reality, but he is just as likly to get sick as anypony else! So my main point is, is that if Discord can be weakened, then Celestia Is far FAR for unbeatable! Hell, Goku could beat her with one soft flcik of his index finger!

Considering her defeat to not only her own sister in the season 4 premiere, but also chrysalis, she is not invincible, she does have her weaknesses when it comes to dealing with others.

No, she's not. Making a character unbeatable is boring, and stupid. Characters that have some weakness are more liked, then ones that are borderline godmode (Goku is dancing on that line btw).

 

Celestia can be beaten, and taken out, just like any other character in the series. But, this show probably won't show death, so based on that, she is technically unkillable.

Considering NMM was banished for 1000yrs, they were the ones who overthrew Discord who knows how long before that (and looked the same when they did that as shown in the flashback), plus who knows how long they were around before that.

 

So yea, I say they are immortal, not invincible. There is a difference.

 

Immortal means you can't die, but can be killed by certain outside means. Think vampires, death by sun but not much else.

Invincible means you can't be killed, but you can die. For arguments sake, think Superman. Not much can hurt/kill him, but old age would eventually.

 

In the end, a nuke more than likely would kill both Luna and Celestia. The blasts that they have endured so far were very specific spells meant to harm, not kill I'd say. Even if this wasn't a show for girls. If Chrysalis ran Celestia threw with her horn though, I'm sure she'd be done for unless magically healed.

Anyone who believes she is invincible is wrong. It's not even up for debate. Chrysalis would've ended her if she hadn't been saved and she presumably fell against Nightmare Moon as well before turning to the Elements.

Incidentally, the Elements are proven to be more powerful so "nothing is more powerful" would be plainly wrong as well.

I am concerned that some of this post might be wrong. I was always under the assumption that Princess Celestia did not fight Nightmare Moon in either event. The Princess would have had no reason to fight her in season one (choosing instead to be captured or to flee) because she knew that Twilight was destined to use the elements to restore Princess Luna. In the flashback, she explicitly refused to fight Luna, only resorting to sealing her in the moon when reasoning didn't work. The only time we know that she had any hoof in fighting was against the Queen of the Changelings and Discord.

 

To comment on the main topic, I think Celestia is obviously not invincible as in being too powerful to be defeated in a struggle. She may be immortal but not invincible.

From what I've seen so far, despite being an alicorn and having lived and ruled Equestria for over a millenia before her sister returned, she's obviously NOT invincible.

 

She's powerless trying to save Luna from her dark side after she used the Elements of Harmony on Nightmare Moon and was met with disastrous end results, she wasn't powerful enough to stop Discord the first time when he escaped from his stone prison having lost the connection with the Elements upon Luna's exile, she blew it big time when she allowed herself to fall victim to Chrysalis' lies and got herself defeated under her hoof when she siphoned more than enough of Shining Armor's love for Cadence and she doesn't have the power to end King Sombra when the Crystal Empire reemerged along with her sister, the incident with Discord when he was first released and the Changeling invasion being the closest she's ever come to letting her kingdom fall to the forces of evil.

 

There is a chance in the that she would fully admit that she's not invincible and not the perfect pony that all of Equestria thinks.

Natural Alicorn: A natural alicorn like Celestia or Luna(or Princess Platinum if I must) are immortal. IMMORTAL! Not invincible. I have heard many a brony/pegasister say "Alicorns are invincible." Like seriously  It ticks me off when people act stupid like that.

 

Artificial Alicorns: Artificial alicorns such as Cadence or Twilight, are not immortal or invincible. They age just like a regular pony.

Celestia is not invincible and I like it that way because it kind of explains why she doesn't do shit to save Equestria each time that it is in danger.

 

She was defeated by Chrysalis but only because she was powered by the love of Shining Armor for Cadence, I deduce that his love is incredibly strong.

She doesn't seem or haven't shown that she is capable of deafeating powerful foes like Discord or her own sister, Princess Luna. She always needed the assist of the elements of Harmony.

 

Now that she's no longer connected to them, she seem to be really powerful but with it's limitations.

 

I wonder, if the elements of Harmony are one powerful source of magical power, does that means that there are some other powers hidden 'within' Equestria? I would like to see something like that.
