movies/tv I like Frozen, but.....

First off, I'd like to make it clear like I like the movie Frozen, but I have a few things I'd like to point about it that bothered me.

Im not trying to bash this movie in any way either, I am just wondering if anyone else feels the same way.

1. Elsa's powers. We hardly saw them in action, but what bothered me was that we knew no origin of these powers other than Elsa was born with them. I at least wish they could have had some sort of explanation of them and why she had them.

It seemed almost lazy to me that they decided to just say "oh she was born with them" and give no further explanation. It just felt sloppy to me :/

2. The trolls..... OK.... WHAT? we know next to nothing about those trolls or what their deal was. Who are they? How did the king know them? How did the king know to come to them for help when Elsa's powers got out of hand? And I honestly did not enjoy the song they sang...

I can't be the only person to wonder about these things.... So I look forward to responses,

Again, I like Frozen but I just feel like Disney films are becoming so predictable and the formula is always the same for their storylines now.

(I'm afraid people will be mad at me for this, I know there are lots of Frozen fans here... Eek!)

I enjoyed the movie, but like most good movies there are plot holes that are never explained or they are brought up once and they don't explain it very well. Other than that, still enjoyed it and you make some good points there.

If they make a sequel, it could answer your questions.

Hmm I guess you do make some good points there. I think it will be cleared up in the next sequel.... If there is one :P

Oh gods, I hope not. Frozen was fantastic- let's not screw it up with a sequel.

Anyway, the trolls and magic powers were one of the things that puzzled me. The trolls seemed to have some knowledge of Elsa's powers. Have they dealt with this sort of situation before with a previous royal? How? When? Are Elsa's powers passed down? Who else in the royal family had these powers? These are just lingering questions.

Despite being a huge Frozen fan, I thought the trolls were the weakest part of the movie for me. Not every movie is perfect so there's bound to be missing pieces here and there during the movie, still a great movie nevertheless though.

This movie was good. But tangled was WAY better. Alot of people agree with me. And I did not see Anna using her Act of true love for Elsa. But the Trolls were weak. And I loved kristoff. Also cause Jonathan Groff played him so well. (PLus I LOVE him and Idina So Much!) But I liked Tangled way more.

Agreed!!! I hated the trolls, they were SO annoying! And where did they come from? Why were they there? Why did the royals know about them. did anyone else except from Kris-what's-his-name? And their song.. HNG!

I liked Frozen but to me it doesn't have much of a 'replay-me' factor. Animated films today are to focused on OOOH LIKE AT THE FANCY GRAPHICS rather than a compelling, thought provoking story. Of course, I don't mean the complexity of say, The Machinist, because they're aimed towards children. However, children aren't stupid and adults will watch it too.

I just watched it earlier and I loved it, though I agree with your points.

Some movies don't need a sequel and I feel a sequel would be pointless.

A sequel would be nice because some parts left us guessing. Like... how does Elsa have icy blonde hair? Why dont Anna have it too? Or why does Elsa have powers but not Anna, orrrr how did Elsa get her powers? Those are some examples of questions Frozen hasn't answered. Maybe the next sequel will be about another kingdom taking over Arendelle and taking Elsa as prisoner or killing her.

Well, they did say she was born with them, but as for why, it would be interesting to know. As for her hair, it's just a hair color.

I actually thought about those things as well. All we know about her powers is that she was born with them. We don't really know why she had them :/

And I didn't like the song the trolls sang either, it was my least favorite song of the movie xD

But her parents' have dark hair. Not blonde.

Yeah, I suppose you have a point, but in that case, it  probably has to do with her ice powers.

Probably. Just like how Rapunzel originally had brown hair but because of the flower her mom drank while she was still inside, her hair is blonde. :)

I thought it was alright, but nowhere near as amazing as "Let it Go" or "For the first time in forever"

Well it's just a movie, not everything is supposed to make complete logical sense :P

Actually, this was a bit described in a couple of the cut songs, which describe the 'troll prophecy' of an evil creature causing an unending winter. The king presumably was prepared for when his ice queen daughter developed powers that lined up with the ones described in said prophecy.

The prophecy really didn't help much either, in my opinion.

All it did was kind of foreshadow to the problems there would be later in the movie, which was Elsa's powers.

And didn't the king say that she was born with them, not that they appeared over time?

It also seemed that the first time Elsa's father and the troll king talked bout her powers was that first scene in the movie.

It just seemed that way to me because of the questions the troll king asked and how he had to explain it.

Plus the king died before he could have even attempted to deal with Elsa's powers, assuming that he was prepared.

Not that it would have mattered if he was alive during the whole movie, it still would have been Elsa and Anna to save the day.

Just to let you ponies know, Frozen is base off a book called Snow Queen. It is by Hans Cristian Anderson. Maybe the answers lie there.

Hans Cristian Anderson also wrote Little Mermaid.

With all due respect...What the f### are you talking about? Frozen went out of its way to break the formula and screw the standard predictions.

I was talking about the predictions I made about is movie when I first went to see it.

Of which I was right about everything one. Allow me to break it down for you.

My first predictions were that Elsa's powers would be out of her control and she'd then flee from the kingdom.

Then that Anna would go after her, and along the way meet the male character from the trailer.

I also thought that Anna would end up with him in the end because of the way their relationship started. They kinda clashed and bickered at first, not really getting along. Classic Disney relationship.

It was also extremely obvious that Anna was not going to die from her ice heart and that Kristof would not be the one to save her.

It's a movie where the good guys win. How exactly did it go way out of its way to break the formula?
