This teacher needs to be fired and banned from teaching. This is why some parents refuse to enroll autistic children in school. It's very sad to see how some teachers treat their students like crap.

I don't get why instead of just helping the kid, she mocked him and asked him if he wanted to be tasered? Why would he be tasered? That comment wasn't even relevant to the situation.

She doesn't seem like a very good teacher. Maybe she should find a new job.

I'm not really surprised at this point, to be honest. But still, she's a teacher and she's supposed to show full responsibility for the kids she's supposed to be taking care of during the school hours. Personally, I believe she should be fired, but that's just my opinion.

And to that parent that said the teacher had a "sense of humor", and was trying to make "light of the situation", what she did was neither of those things, it's called help the kid out instead of watching.

Well, dang.

Honestly I don't know what to think, haha...

Either the teacher is a little apathetic, or a jerk. I mean, someone getting stuck does tend to be funny sometimes--right up until there's an issue, but I'd draw a pretty nicely defined line at screwing with kids, especially when they're under your care.

If one of my current classmates got stuck, I'd laugh, though good-naturedly, and I'd see about helping them out if other people didn't already go for it.

Scared kid? That's kinda horrible...

There is nothing endearing or funny about this. This poor kid was stuck and wanted to get out…and the teacher records him and mocks him?! There are NO excuses for what the teacher said and did (more like not do). The poor boy didn't deserve the abuse, and her evil only proved why some parents refuse to enroll their autistic children to school.

But what's even more shameful is the fact that the parents interviewed at the end defended her and made light of the allegations. Those three shouldn't be parents for being so clueless, especially the third one. What she didn't WASN'T putting light in the situation. It was bullying, and there are NO EXCUSES FOR BULLYING!

This news disgusted me. Shame on the teacher for bullying, and shame on the principal and three "parents" for enabling it.

teacher logic: Oh a student is stuck in a chair and can't get out, I should laugh at him and tell him to get tazered, because that is so funny right?

Wow also for the parents defending her, even if it was a joke, there is a line to cross between being funny and just being down right mean.

That is just... I can't even think of what to say about that.

The only thing I can really say here is that that's just wrong... I didn't even have to watch the entire video to know how terrible that teacher is...

I had a teacher that regularity got in students faces and belittled them. Used fear and intimidation to keep his class under control. I think because he was stuck doing special ed and had no idea how to treat kids with problems it was just easier to oppress than try to learn with them.

The fact those 'parents' defended her actions has stricken me incandescent fury. What a terrible and horrific community to condone and defend her behavior! What she did was nothing more than bullying and should be fired and suspended from ever teaching children at any capacity. It's horrifying to see this poor kid suffer such a traumatic experience for ten to fifteen minutes and have busted capillaries from it :.(

Well, I have to admit I'm still attempting to see a viewpoint from their side. It's not convincing, and I don't think I'd ever agree with their viewpoint, but perhaps if you've seen kids do countless stupid (but harmless) things and cry about them, one's viewpoint might be a bit warped.

I know a parent who has a kid that encountered snow for the first time this year. He didn't want to wear his gloves, and then felt so bitingly cold when he tried touching the snow - and then he got angry and started punching the snow, and that made him more cold and started to cry. Nothing much a parent could do about that, and the parent admits that while he doesn't want his kid getting hurt, the circumstances were a little amusing.

You wouldn't really think of it being the case, but perhaps for a caretaker, after the dozenth issue in which a kid does something really stupid, and then cries about it, you'd stop being utterly sympathetic to every little thing.

BUT, then there's some pretty polarizing aspects to this issue, like deciding to videotape it, threatening to taser him (what was even the reason for that? I'm really curious) and allowing the whole class to simultaneously ridicule him. Just for leniency, I'm even going to grant that maybe the teacher didn't know the boy was autistic...but even that doesn't help her case much.

Man, America really has to work on its schools.

Normally I would find it hilarious seeing a child stuck in a chair, but from experience of having an autistic brother, I know you don't try to make light of a situation where someone with autism in distress, especially with a sarcastic threat. The fact that the teacher knows of this child's disability, and doesn't aid him for 10-15 minutes, is ridiculous. She should be fired but that student should be treated with better care, and the teacher ought to undergo some training, along with an in person apology to the family

Kind of a Derpy moment for the kid, right?

Oh haha! Yeah that teacher should be fired. She's taught them compassion? Heck if it was there son or daughter that had been in that chair they probably wouldn't be defending her! Teachers aren't supposed to mock students or laugh at them, they're supposed to be kind leaders who you can look to, not ones who laugh at kids stuck in chars, record them, and mock them.

A brief chuckle is one thing, but this was wrong. The teacher should have never recorded that incident and she shouldn't have been so mean spirited. One time a pen exploded in my mouth in grade 5, my teacher let me take care of it, had a brief chuckle with me after class and never singled me out for it. That's the appropriate action, not what this woman did.

If this teacher had any other job that didn't deal with the kids, I would call her a major dick.

But this is a teacher, who shouldn't be allowed to completely degrade students at all, especially because of a mental illness.

She should be fired.
