My theory: Pony hooves and unicorn horns are made from the same substance

First off, I would like to clarify that I will be using the original meaning of the word "Alicorn": the material from which an unicorn's horn is made.

 

(This is also why I dislike the fact that the fandom decided to change the word to mean "princess race", and why I was slightly disappointed when the show turned this meaning canon. But that's not really related to the topic at hand.)

 

According to my theory, a pony's hooves are made from alicorn, just like a unicorn's horn. This means that every pony could, in theory, channel magic using their hooves. This is supported by the fact that the magic of pegasi and earth ponies both involve their hooves: Pegasi have the power to walk on clouds, and it is implied that earth ponies can bless the earth on which they walk (which is why earth ponies are the best farmers and gardeners). So why can't the other species levitate items or fire offensive blasts of energy? That is because the organ which controls magic is located near the head. Therefore, it is easier for the magical energy to travel to a pony's horn than to their hooves. As a result, the magic powers of the non-unicorn races are more subdued.

I'm pretty sure Lauren Faust or someone mentioned magnetic magic on pony hooves that lets them be used as hands, so yeah.

Yea but the problem is that a unicorns horn is more than likely connected directly to the brain while hooves are not, it is also possible that unicorns have a magic channeling organ inside their brain somewhere that allows them to channel magic, not saying that other ponies don't have magic, heck Dashies sonic Rainboom is proof that non unicorns DO have a great deal of magic, they just have no easy way to channel it to a specific task......which is why Dashies sonic rainboom, well was a BOOM!

Of any case I offer a challenge a better name if it is not like, Not 'winged unicorn' or 'pegacorn' as that gives false information. Celestia and Luna were established as being a harmony between all three races of ponies at once, not just a unicorn and a pegasus.

Back more on focus, there was actually a fan that went over an idea involving both a pony's horns, wings if pegasus, horn if unicorn, all had a certain substance that allowed for magical effects no in the case of unicorns spells.

I would call them "Regal ponies" since most known alicorns are princesses. I know that "winged unicorn" implies that earth ponies are inferior, that's why I avoid using the word when talking about them.

Horse hooves are made of Keratin, which you might recognize as what makes up your fingernails. I believe this applies to ponies as well.

 

It's more likely than not that the horn is made of bone, simply being an extension of the skull.

Actually, they don't bless the Earth and they don't use magic to manipulate clouds. The Earth ponies simply use hard work and the Pegasai use an industrial process to do each of those things, respectively.

The show's creators said that earth ponies have a special connection to the earth, which is why they make the best farmers.

 

And by cloud manipulation, I meant that pegasi have the ability to interact with clouds as if they were solid objects (Walking on them, forcing rain and lightning out of them, etc.).
