music Favourite Album Art

Inspired by the many "Top favourite _________" threads, varying from music to gaming, I decided to create a thread that gets noticed barely. The art.

 

I want you guys to post your favourite album art, whether it be regular albums, special edition LPs, rare as all hell cassettes, whatever. Just show what makes it your favourite album art.

 

One of my favourites has to go to the self-titled Sodom album, because while the front cover/box looks simple, clean and epic...

 

 

The album art for the lyrics booklet looks much more... creepy, for a lack of better term.

 

 

And then there's the Tyr albums The Lay of Thyrm and Ragnarok, which both look sweet.

 

 

 

 

And finally, there's the Punishment for Decadence original art. When the album was re-released (w/o the band's consent), they released it with a different album art - as the original one was available only on record.

I personally think this is my favorite of all the album art I've seen. Mastodon- Leviathan... I love how the creature is colored, it just makes for an awesome cover.

I really like the album art from Coldplay's Viva La Vida, It's of the painting Liberty Leading the People, very historical.

 

 

I also love the art from Journey's album Escape.

I really like Meshuggah art. It's pretty "artsy" for metal albums.

 

AND THEY MAKE FOR COOL SIGS, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN ;DDD

 

Also, Born of Osiris. The art on them is just cool. Very spacey.

 

Oh yeah, and I'm always a fan of Death album art. Don't feel like posting pictures, though.

Emperor's "In The Nightside Eclipse" is beautiful because of the amount of detail in it

 

 

I also like the art on Burzum's "Filosofem" and "Burzum" albums.

May not be my favorite, but I really like this one:

Not only do I love the band, this album cover just catches my eye. I love the vibe that the font and the wording of it gives off.

 

The whole album is basically saying "Fuck American bullshit, and if you think we're sellouts fuck you too."

Yea I like Death and The Smiths. These album covers really seem to stand out in my opinion.

There's a lot of well designed album covers out there, so which are your favorites?

I find the album cover for Aerosmith's Get a Grip original and funny. I mean a cow with a nipple ring, how original is that?

Next is Supertramp's Breakfast in America, I don't know why I like this one, I just do. It also spawned this, which is amazing on it's own.

Marilyn Manson's 5th studio album "Holy Wood" had a stark, simplistic cover. It captured the record's overarching themes of decadence, cultural arrogance, and blind piety. At the same time, it flaunted the hypocritical blind eye towards decay, ignorance and self-destruction.

It's not particularly "stand-out-ish", per se, but I really like it. It's a nice blend of peaceful and creepy. Really goes along with the music contained therein.

 

 

How can such a simple cover be so awesome at the same time? I don't even really know why I think it's so awesome, something about it just strikes me as such.

 

 

This album cover reminds me of winter, and as winter is my favorite season, it would make sense that I like this album cover. I actually didn't particularly care for the album itself, but I still think the cover is pretty sweet.

Chimp Spanner's album At the Dream's Edge has always interested me.

 

 

I also think that this one has a great concept.

I really like this one because it is very neat. The character is a serious badass too.

 

 

This one is neat because it's haunting and captivating, while still keeping a creepy outlook.

 

 

I don't know what the hell is going on in this one.

My favorite album cover is the one for Asylum by Disturbed, I have it as a tattoo.

 

Other great ones would be Maralyin Manson's Hollywood album, Korn's Follow The Leader album, Avenged Sevenfold's Nightmare single and Bring Me the Horizon's Suicide Season album.

Whatever. One of my favorite album covers that comes to mind right now is Dookie by Green Day.

Every time I look at it, I see something new I didn't see before. And the album's pretty good too.
