Overdaul 12 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 Has anybody ever had a conversation with a reasonable, well spoken anti-brony? Perhaps they tried the show and didn't like it. They seem rare to me. If so, what reasons did they have?
ZukoIsBestPony 561 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 The only 'reasonable' anti-brony I have come across is my stepdad, he just plain doesn't wanna talk about it. ~Silver Essence~ 2,625 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 They are rather rare to say, but the quantity are genuinely short. For the most part, I have met a few smart and reasonable anti bronies who were okay.
OptimisticNeighsayer 478 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 (edited) I don't know any, but as far as I'm concerned, there's no such thing as a "smart antibrony". Anybody who genuinely doesn't like the show is likely smart enough not to demean those who like the show, and to demean those who like the show is no sign of intelligence. Felix 1,363 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 Well, to be fair, I think someone who is a "smart anitbrony" isn't exactly an antibrony but has well reasoning for not being in the fandom himself though respects us. At least I believe that's what you could really say/call someone like that. 3 Credit to Kyoshi for the awesome signature!
Dargent 80 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 I've seen smart non-bronies, those who simply don't enjoy the show, but come to think of it, I have never seen a smart anti-brony. 2 "Kyoshi is Oprah, but with med kits. Moonlight 7,287 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 I don't really consider anti-bronies to be smart, since they're probably just not fans rather than against it. My friend watches the show with me but she doesn't consider herself a brony and she went as far as to say that she respects the fandom, she's just not personally a fan. matching setups with my bff pathfinder
#1 Flutterfan 174 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 Personally, if they don't like the show, they aren't "anti-bronies" because, anti-brony would suggest that they do not want you to watch the show, or they force you to stop watching it. Just because I don't watch Dr. Who doesn't mean I'm an Anti-Whovian. I just don't watch it, it hasn't interested me.There are always good among the bad just as there are smart atheists, and atheists who aren't bad people, there are also good anti-bronies. They are rare, moreso, they attribute the term "brony" to those that have the more... interesting tastes that involve NC-17 nature. So--that's what they believe a brony is. And they are a bit harder to show what the difference is.But--if you don't watch the show, what's to say that you're not smart? I'm not going to fully watch a show to explain to someone why I don't like it. I watched 200 episodes of Naruto, and gave it up--and now people want me to go back and start watching because apparently in 400 episodes, it gets better. That's not necessarily the same thing--but, some people have given the show a chance and if they don't like it they don't like it. To be honest adults liking cartoons, in America, is a weird thing. Because "cartoons are childish." Despite what the morals are, that's what the view is. I believe, though, that animated media is just another medium to express your thoughts, so there can be dark cartoons, and light and happy cartoons. But--there's a stigma against cartoons. There wasn't such a craze back when powerpuff girls was out. Probably because the PPG fandom wasn't exposed nearly as much as the MLP fandom was. 5 #1 Flutterfan has and plays:PSP, Ps2, Ps3, PS4, Xbox360, N64, Gameboy Color; Nintendo SwitchPSN: Loydna, Live: Loydaminc May/not friend you--but will talk to you~
Discordian 6,015 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 If they were smart, they wouldn't be anti-bronies. Bronies and MLP do nothing to harm anyone and people who are against them for any reason are starting shit that doesn't actually exist until they themselves start it. Windseeker 546 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 The only logical anti-bronies I ever came in contact with, are former bronies who went AWOL from our community and uses their knowledge to troll us.
Cwanky 17,595 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 An anti-brony or "hater" is just simply someone who doesn't like or approve of MLP:FiM and/or the fandom. Nothing more. Nothing less. Just as there are bad bronies out there, I'm sure a lot of the people, if not most who dislike or simply choose not to watch MLP:FiM are otherwise reasonable and friendly people. My brother's "anti-brony," He tried watching the 1st episode and a few clips and didn't understand or enjoy the show. He doesn't really ridicule me for watching the show, just a few jokes but only in jest, not malice. Likewise I know a bisexual friend online that formerly did a lot of RP on a Naruto RPG site I was formerly a part of. He doesn't like the style and didn't see the hype either, which is fine. Just because some people don't like the show doesn't mean they're automatically bigoted or small minded. They're entitled to their views and opinions, just as our fandom is to ours.

Totally Ducklett 181 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 I once had a lovely conversation with a hater about π! Well, no really... but I would love to. Anyways, a smart hater? Hmm... I have seen one or two in YouTube comments, but they're pretty rare :3 Quack. Totally a Ducklett.
Ribbonfree 2,383 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 Yes. Not about the show proper, but a few of my friends genuinely dislike it and I have perfectly normal conversations with them on other things. Being a hater is just one aspect of a person... Honestly, I understand some of the complaints from haters anyways. The situation with Pinkiepony and DWM was fairly legitimate, in my opinion. Sunbro 4 Lyfe 939 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 That sounds racist. I mean I know they don't like the show, or don't like us. But sweet Celestia! Lightning Bliss 1,674 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 I wouldn't call them smart or thick but "reasonable" would be the proper term. Someone who gave the show a shot and legatiametly didn't like it and explained why. For instance my husband admits he will NEVER be a brony, but has given the show a fair chance and has even said he finds it entertaining enough for its quroky personality and easter egg jokes here and there, but he doesn't "love" the show like I do and doesn't give into the whole hype of being called a brony. 2 I'm just a silly little alicorn, trying to get by in the fandom ^^ The Lightning Bliss Show Lightning Bliss DevianArt
Mars Caramel 319 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 If someone who dislikes the show was actually smart, they would just say something along the lines of "You may like it, but I just find it annoying!" and move on. That sounds racist. I mean I know they don't like the show, or don't like us. But sweet Celestia! "Smart Anti-bronies" I mean is that really a smart name? Bronies aren't a race nor culture. It does sound strange, but it's not racist at all.

Everleaf 541 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 I had NEVER met a (smart) antibrony all the ones I had talked to just complain over every little bit but in that there was one on Deviantart which I forgot the name of which had been pretty good at art (but come on a lot of it is hating ponies like well okay I am having a hard time finding him okay so I was in a pretty bad mood in the time we had quite a argument over it when I only said one thing to stick up for bronies and wow it went long but he did not seem dumb (but he also did) soon he kept sending me pictures of the death of the ponies and other hate I did not care do what he wants hes not stopping us okay anyway he is the smartest I know no more than that The deepest of the Everfree! man dude man 555 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 The only 'reasonable' anti-brony I have come across is my stepdad, he just plain doesn't wanna talk about it. percisely, I believe if they have any wits at all and they aren't just someone trying to lash out in disgust for attention to their own dislikes and point of view, they would DISREGUARD something they want nothing to do with. If someone doesn't like or doesn't want anything to do with something, forget about it? Don't concern yourself with it?
