Equestria and Beyond?

So in the song Apples to the Core Applejack says "from Equestria and beyond." This begs the question, are there realms outside of Equestria, who governs them, are they bound to the same laws of nature as Equestria (Celestia making the sun rise), and are their Apples there.

"Equestria" is only the name of the land under pony influence from canterlot, not the planet, for example the changling kindgom and the Frozen North are beyond equestria's borders.

I believe Saddle Arabia was mentioned as an outside realm too.

That's something I've longed wondered about Equestria: is it a kingdom? Country? Empire? The whole darn -planet?!

Well yeah, think of Equestria as a continent on the planet.

 

Take a look at this map here:

 

 

There's other parts of the world besides Equestria.

 

Like over at the bottom right, you have "Dragons be here" and to the right of the map "Yonder to Griffins".

 

Observing this map makes me think that like Equestria being populated by mainly Ponies, the other parts of the planet have the same kind of lands.

Like you'd have an alternate version of Equestria populated by Dragons, and another with Griffins.

 

At least, that's what I think. ^^
