a) loved that it had luna again - hopefully there will be one of her and apple bloom in the future

 

B) also loved that it played on themes from 'a christmas carol' - showing past, present and future

 

c) slightly disappointed that there is yet to be a official hint as to what the tree of harmony box is actually about....

Well that episode was pretty heartwarming. Seriously I'm not really a fan of the Christmas Carol trope, but this episode played it off great

10/10

Not sure about the 10/10 but indeed this is one of the best episodes of S4 after Rarity Takes Manehatten and Pinkie Pride, and is worthy of the Christmas Carol trope.

Couple of random thought just occurred to me... (and I'm probably late coming to this from the rest of you)

 

In order to help Sweetie Bell at the end... Luna was out in the day time. So that's now canon

 

Sweetie Bell sucks at sewing so Luna had to do it or possibly just guided her... I E... Luna knows how to sew.

 

Luna is best big sister alacorn ;)

Just noticed another thing...

 

Y'all know that oh so wonderful fabric that Rarity made in Rarity takes Manehatten...

 

Do y'all realize it was now only worth as curtains in the playhouse in this episode...

 

Guess it was better then pitching it

I saw Sweetie Belle was in charged of the show, and within her dreams are Sweetie Belle and Princess Luna watching Rarity's costumes. This episode is I can't believe.

Princess Twilight Sparkle always do legendary stuff with magic in Equestria. Time to blast from the past.

The CMC's voices also have a definite change to them. Sweetie Belle lost a lot of her squeak. :)

I thought Luna sounded like she had a cold, and the CMC's voice actresses are definitely growing up.  Sweetie Belle's voice is the most dramatically changing - not too much longer and she'll sound like an adult.  (That must be hard when you're a child actor...)

I wonder if they'll make them look older as well. I'm already seeing a higher level of maturity; Sweetie Belle went from wanting her big sis to play with her to being more mature and a little grown-up. :)

I adored this episode! It was fantastic character development for Sweetie Belle that has bumped her to my favorite CMC for now. It was relatable for me as a creative person with some slight family issues. I love how part of the lesson is to get the whole story to a situation before letting your anger get the better of you. Luna was great. The dreams had really great animation and I love the little nods to continuity like Sweetie Belle using magic again and Scootaloo trying and failing to fly again.

She still has her squeak in some season 4 episodes like "Somepony to Watch Over Me" and "Twilight Time" but the actress's voice is getting deeper. Luna did sound odd when she said that she was really there with Sweetie Belle before they fixed the thread but it wasn't too distracting.

I liked it! It's new that Luna can...look into the future... xD

Rarity does not seem that mentally fragile. We've seen her handle herself fine in stressful situations like in A Dog and Pony Show or Rarity takes Manehattan. I don't think Luna was showing Sweetie Belle the future so much as she was trying to nudge her into doingthe right thing in a way that was about as subtle as a train wreck.

 

 

Second, how is Luna showing parts of a memory neither she nor Sweetie Belle were there to witness? Like with the birthday, they should only be viewing this from Sweetie Belle's POV, so unless Luna is also tapping into Rarity's memories neither of them should be seeing this.

Considering we're talking about a pony who can magically enter others' dreams, she was probably playing back Rarity's memories like a PVR for Sweetie.

What else could have happened if Sweetie Belle continued to have negative emotions?

What else could have happened if Sweetie Belle continued to have negative emotions?

I think Rarity would have tried to do something (like in Sisterhooves Social) instead of Luna anyway.

However, I think Sweetie Belle will always be kinda jealous of her sister...

Just watched it and I must say that I liked this episode :) I liked how you got to follow Sweetie Belle's thoughts and how this jealousy of her sister has affected her.

 

I would have wanted Rarity to maybe talk to her, which she didn't do, but it worked out anyways. My favorite part was when she traveled around with Luna, I really enjoyed that.
