Are there any accurate figures out there? Anyone else annoyed?

Well I've known of the show for just over 3 months now and would like to get a figure to put on my desk. I've been having NO LUCK trying to find one that doesn't look "mutated", lol. I found someone on YouTube who was making 3D ponies and 3D printing them and they looked awesome! Of course Hasbro got rid of that. If only I knew about the show a couple years ago, I might have been able to get one.

What pisses me off is that Hasbro just shuts stuff like that down. The modeling work is done, why not work something out with the person who did the modeling and license a company to produce them. I haven't seen any models that look show accurate from any angle like these do. Hasbro could definitely make good money from these.

So what are your thoughts on the figures that are out there now? Does anyone know of any good figures that are accurate? Everything I've seen so far bugs me because they look dumb.

Rainbow Rocks... at least how it could've looked... in a stranger, more interesting dimension

For those who are wondering, Twilight is chewing bubble gum.

I think the most show accurate figures at the moment are the full size funko figures. They're vinyl and slightly bigger than the brushables. They're released in waves of 2. I believe right now they have derpy, rainbow dash, doctor whooves, Fluttershy, Lyra, pinkie pie, spitfire, Bon Bon, Octavia, vinyl scratch, twilight, and trixie. They're still releasing them. I believe further releases include applejack, Big Mac, possibly discord? And more.

They're available at hot topic and barnes and noble, I think sometimes toys r us.

So, wait, the actual vinyl figures they make as well as blind bags aren't accurate? I know blind bags have their slight differences, but the vinyl one's seem pretty damn close to the proper ponies. The only oddities ive noticed was how Twilight's hair was made, but its still not even that big of a problem at all.

Otherwise, no, ive not seen any other kind of figures made. You're only hope that I know of is to find someone who custom makes them themselves since those can be as accurate as you want them to be.

The fan-made plushies as close as you can get to show-accurate. Some blind bags they sell at places like Hot Topic are pretty close to show-accurate.

personaly I prefer to buy my plushies from

http://www.ebay.com/sch/mangaanimegadgets/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

I think that they are VERY cheap considering how good they look.

Only problem is that not all of the characters you might want from the show is there. ( I kinda want a Scootaloo)

stay away from the hasbro merch at all costs tho lol.

A lot of Hasbro's official merchandise are not show accurate, which is kind of sad. I always check eBay for a lot of pony products.

I also love Welovefine's vinyl figures. I have Derpy and Vinyl Scratch sitting on my desk here and they're fantastic. I have Future Twilight and Trixie pre-ordered, even though Twilight isn't 100% show accurate, the other three are pretty close in my opinion.

Some vinyl figures can be more accurate than others

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it save equistria with its five candy coloured friends and shoot rainbows at bad guys using their necklaces and tiara unless you're celestia

Thanks guys. I forgot to mention I don't really want a stuffed animal "plushie" or any figures with actual "hair". Some of the plushie things are done well though.

Lol, I'm just pretty picky. A lot of the figures' heads look dumb in my opinion which bugs me.

-I also think it is sad that Hasbro doesn't put more effort into making some figures- intended for decoration. If they made good ones I'm sure they would make decent money from them.

-I just got one of Vinyl Scratch spinning on the record that I keep on my stereo or CD tower about a week ago. I thought it was kind of funny and I think it's done pretty good. I haven't really had much luck other than that one.

Yea, I have that exact Vinyl Scratch figure except it's one of the flocked ones. So fuzzy :P

I got lucky and bought the last flocked Derpy figure they had in stock a couple weeks ago :P

I figured it'd be something like that as I was gonna mention their expressionless faces myself as well. xD

I don't fully blame you, mate.

Oooo, i was gonna get that and the derpy one as well, but I actually forgot until just now reading this.

Ive to do that now somehow.

And speaking of, the Trixie one they made recently also has an odd face imo. Kinda kept me from preordering it myself. :z

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm really picky with my pony merch partly because I can't have too much of it but mostly because I'm a huge stickler about things being show accurate as well. But I have to say I have seen no issue with show accuracy with anything funko has made that is MLP related, you should definitely check out their stuff!

Well, If you want show accurate merchandise then don´t buy from Hasbro please. I mean their ponies have cutie marks just on one side plus the manes are not even a little close to be show accurate. They even made Celestia PINK! I recommend the Funko Vinyl figures or anything fanmade cause those are even better than Hasbro stuff.
