What did you think of the Twilight's Kingdom DBZ style fight?

My thought when i first saw the MLP:DBZ fight...

 

 

 

What was everyone elses thoughts as they watched Gok-I mean Twilight- take on Cel-I mean, Tirek?

One of the best moments in that episode is when Twilight fired her (what I like to call) Princess Kamehameha!

 

I just love to imagine what kind of power it had behind it. You literally have the full power of Luna, Celestia and Cadence all inside Twilight Sparkle, not to mention her own mighty best pony power. I've seen many fans call this one of the best moments in the series, also with the best fight in the series, and I can't argue with them! This fight completely redefined the term "Epic", the description of the word was replaced with a link to the fight scene.

At the same time, I don't want the show to turn into pony ball z. There is a balance, I'm sure, but I fear if they go in that direction they'll abandon story telling for just...action.

x) For as long as this show is rated Y, and is about friendship and cute ponies, I can't see regular battles of that magnitude even being possible to happen once, maybe twice a season at the absolute maximum.

I hope to see a battle of the magnitude we had today, with Discord as one of the participants. Especially after how he was downplayed and had his epic powers drained this episode, he needs a chance to show just how powerful that chaos magic is in a one-on-one duel x)

We've been needing to see some major anime-style battling in a show where magic and crazy powers are norm.

Yeah, I always wondered how is that there are so many magical Unicorns all around the place and we don't see much of some more spectacular uses of Magic. Using Magic to just carry objects levitating in the air instead of putting them in their mouths is not much spectacular. Neither is using their horns as flashlights, where a candle or a torch or a jar full of fireflies would do the job equally well. Twilight's teleporting spell is where the scale of magical coolness begins. And I couldn't say the bar is set high. So where all those skillful Unicorn magicians are hiding?

 

They couldn't have executed it any better than they did, for me.

Well, I can imagine a better battle, more thought-out and strategic, instead of just throwing lasers & fireballs all around. But I understand that Twilight was just a newbie with all these Alicorn powers combined and I'm OK with that. I'm sure she did what she thought is best, and what she could came up with in such a short time, in the middle of a battle, where there's not much time for strategic thinking. Maybe in Season 5 we will see some more of her power used in a more controlled & trained way (I hope so!).

 

As to the main subject: Yeah, it was an epic battle indeed! And I was very happy to see it. I was like "Whoaaa! That is AWESOME! /)*3*(\" all the time I watched it. I just hope they'll not overdo it in future episodes, because if I wanted to watch "Dragon Ball Z", I would watch "Dragon Ball Z" instead of "My Little Ponies". It would be best if they just took the awesomeness of DBZ battles but maintained it all in the mood of MLP (which so far they do).

What I'd really like to see is some more background Unicorns beyond the main crew to show some of their powers, especially teaming up and working together. You know, some Care Bears' style combined beam of rainbow. This would be a great illustration that this whole Magic of Friendship thingy is not something reserved exclusively to Mane Six, and that magical powers combined by friendship, not a must, can really make more change than lone fight.

Oh oh, but I wonder. Maybe...just maybe all the villains will actually pop up again in S5 or S6...

 

Chrysalis x Sombra tag team match! I can see it. After her defeat, she's recovering, but stumbles upon Sombra's horn. She finds a way to feed off his hate, but become possesed by him. Sombra leads changlings in covert operation against the ponies in a way Chrysalis never could.

 

But then Sombra possesing Chrysalis gets too cocky and full of himself and tries to release and manipulate Tirek. Tirek absorbs their power, but the Changling/Dark magic sets off a mutation in Tirek, and now he can feed off emotions, and go cloud mode. Combine with his magick eating ability, he feeds off the power of friendship and it's positive emotions, and corrupts them with dark magic at the same time!

 

But then the space aliens come.

 

So Celestia is left with only one choice. War.

I loved it!! It was one of the best moments of the show.

 

However I don't want another fight like this one (or at least not for a while).

One was enough. MLP:FiM would start to look like DBZ...

It was... Brutal, especially for MLP standards. Tirek just bullhorned Twilight through a mountain, i mean, these two didn't beat 'round the bush. Twilight looked absolutely vicious, i've haven't seen her that pissed off since Feeling Pinkie Keen. The anger was palpable in the clash between those two. I love what Mark Acheson did with his voice, it added clear frustration and fury to the battle.

 

Judging from this they'd have a serious problem on their hooves if Twilight would be a temporary villain for some strong reason. Beside that she has proven herself to be a very capable fighter.

 

That and it's hard to avoid DBZ style cliché's or moves that have been done before by some other kind of anime-ish series. It's good to see that they are atleast happy to go there and explore a darker side when there's a need for it instead of sugarcoating everything. The entire scene was downright apocalyptic. Just think that it's likely that at some point these kind of fights will appear again in some form against an similiar or more lethal foe, like;

I'm just scared that this is gonna turn into a case like the ending of "Professor Layton and the Unwound Future" where it's so awesome that they have to spend the entire rest of the franchise desperately trying to somehow top it.

Problem is, how are they gonna top that? I just hope we don't get swarmed with DBZ fights all over the series. Maybe they should make another under the top fight like the changellings and give another DBZ fight to the finale of a couple of season later

Yes it would, include footage of G1 Tirek including the parts where he threatened to decapitate Spike (no joke) with King Sombra enslaving the Crystal ponies, Queen Crysalis curd stomping Celestia and Discord completely breaking the mane 6 and you will have quite a good case.

Anyhoove, The plot started as a doctor who episode. I would have liked it better if we didn't see what he was doing, or discord's betrayal. The castle of the two sisters was, hoped by me, to be the castle of the 6 friends, lol. But we got a cystal tree, because the crystal empire probably was giving them away. The episode mostly consisted of little details, I could care less about derpy in the sad and happy moments. But I digress, see you at rainbow rocks.

I didn't expect to see anything that violence or that intense in an episode of the show. It was truly epic. I'm not familiar with DBZ, but I have eyes lol and I could see that that fight was truly something special. Twilight's bravery, determination and complete badass-ness during it had me on the edge of my seat cheering for her even more than normal.
