A new title idea

child of the night

Recommended Posts

So here is what I have been thinking, a new title based off of new players.

To start off here are the current titles:

Subscribers | Poniverse Staff | Administrators | Moderators

and regulars

So I was thinking getting a dedicated group of people to run a essentially welcoming crew, where new sets of people can go to get a run down of the forums, or basically a tour group.

It is just an idea and I expect it will be given a reason for it not to be a taken idea.

Hey there @@child of the night, we actually encourage all staff and members to welcome new users when they arrive ,which essetially makes the need for a "Welcoming committee" null. This plus the welcoming pm and resource map provide new users an overview of the site.

As Rainbow Dash said, staff memebers are encouraged to welcome new users as well, but I know there's a couple of introduction threads that gets no replies as staff can't go in every single one of them. Hopefully we'll get more people to post inside the welcoming section, which was one of the ideas behind activating post counts in the welcoming plaza section. Personally I don't think it'd look good if we had a section for people who are supposed to welcome people. To me, that'd look like people are too lazy to do it and we need people to work with doing it.

I think, maybe we should have some sort of notification (or somehow make it even more visible) that someone just joined the forums so more people would care to say hi. It'd be amazing for the new user to get like 15 different people saying hi! At the moment I'm not sure how to achieve this but if anyone has ideas please fill in.

I do think that would be helpful as these forums can be difficult to navigate, but, if anyone has any questions or w/e about that, then they can always message staff/other members and get help from them.

Great idea though!

As has been stated twice now, the 'welcoming committee' idea has been brought up everywhere (from members, and among staff) several times, and the consensus is that it generally does not work out, because these committee members eventually burn themselves out. Even if you put staff on a rotating schedule to keep burning out from happening, it's still an artificial and non-sincere way of doing things, that I don't think we need. Everyone should post in the Welcoming section with their own volition, however much it may be.

Gonna mark this as locked. Always great to hear suggestions, but I'm afraid this one is akin to a dead-end :)
