Also, I've heard somewhere that Trixie used to me one of your students. If that's true, what was she like back then?
-
So, Celestia, (hope you don't mind my informal way of talking) What was it like spending much of your time tutoring and looking after young unicorns like Twilight in between ruling a nation?
-
I don't think she's inherently a bad villain, but I personally consider Sunset Shimmer to be the least interesting of the MLP villians. Sure, Sombra didn't have much in terms of development in terms of developement, but he at least stood out by showing alarming amount of competence and genre savviness both on and off-screen, as well has having some of the most badass animation I've seen in the show. Sunset Shimmer struck me as being rather painfully generic compared to the rest of the rogues gallery; just a libby with a serious superiority complex. Which is a shame, 'cause she did have an interesting backstory with her being a former student to Celestia and choosing to seek gaining power and supremacy in a different world, I can see several ways you could've done her more three-dimensional, or at least more interesting. take one example I have in mind. 1) Shimmer's superiority complex could be due to a serious sense of insecurity, with her leaving Equestria for the human world for the sole desire to prove herself, and instead of her stealing Twilight's Element of Harmony, you could have the story start with Celestia noticing the mirror gateway to the human world has opened, with Celestia promptly calling for Twilight and telling her about Sunset Shimmer and then having Celestia get Twilight to enter the human world to convince Sunset Shimmer to return to Equestria. Upon entering the human world, Twilight will then spend much of the story using her previous experiences about friendship to help Shimmer see she doesn't need to bully others around or try to be great at everything just to feel better about herself. And have the story end with Shimmer ultimately agreeing with Twilight and either agreeing to return to Equestria, or her telling Twilight she's learned her lesson, but feels happier living in the human world. But then, I probably just wish Equestria Girl ended with Shimmer returning to Equestria with Twilight and seeking forgiveness from Princess Celestia, maybe even offering to turn herself in. 'cause I personally felt that it would've a stronger redemption moment because she was technically trying to conquer both worlds.

During the time you still lived in the human world (and to that extent, before you reformed), did you ever think about returning to Equestria earlier?

Yeah, I think almost all those Fruit Gushers commercials were like that. But I've tried some Fruit Gushers in the past, obviously they don't really turn your head into fruit, but they do taste really good, for what it's worth. In any event, check out this Nintendo commercial that came from Australia; PM me if any of you have successfullly beaten an NES game before (I've only done so with two games).

Who is the best developer to replace Hasbro?
Misterian replied to The Prime Reaper's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
The weirdest thing is, the first company that comes to to my mind to replace Hasbro is Nintendo. I know it's bizarre, but hear me out. I mean that I think specifically someone should get Nintendo to buy Hasbro and thereby put themselves in charge of Hasbro's assets and copyrights. I know Nintendo is mainly a video game company, but they've been known to merchandise their intellectual property. If that should happen, if I know Nintendo, I suspect they'll allow the cast and crew to continue to run the show as they see fit, in exchange they allow Nintendo to make a video game franchise out of MLP:FiM. Or at very least keep the show afloat, as they must be well aware of the success MLP has been and why it is so popular. And Nintendo is known for treating their employees fairly, Meghan McCarthy and the others I bet would feel quite content working with Nintendo. Or maybe I'm just stating some wishful thinking on my part, who knows? And if Nintendo does pull off some -
Season 4 Preview & Info [Spoilers]
Misterian replied to duidamasterXD's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I'd find that highly unlikely. Why? two simple reasons, really. first off, if he did decide to go back to being evil, he'd just end up going back to being a statue thanks to the Elements of Harmony, would you rather his next episode involve him being evil in what might turn out to be his final appearance? or that he officially sticks to being good thereby opening the chance to appear more frequently? Secondly, It's the friendship he formed with Fluttershy that made him decide to pledge being good by the end of 'Keep Calm And Flutter On', if he changed his mind and went back to being evil, he'd be betraying Fluttershy's trust and therefore ruin their friendship, so I'll boldly say it would actually be out of character for him to be willingly to betray Fluttershy just to go back to being evil (thereby wasting an episode's worth of character development). Granted, he'll likely still use his powers to pull pranks on the citizens of Equestria, but his friendship with Fluttershy is what would keep him from doing anything too drastic or cruel. -
The second and third things you've aren't gonna happen, McCarthy herself already said will still live in Ponyville with her friends and will neither change personality wise nor be treated differently. seriously, could someone please put in a 'read first FAQ' or something on this subforum? I'm getting a little tired of having to point out how groundless those Twilicorn fears are by myself here. edit: And I already pointed out what McCarthy said in this very same page, were you reading this before you made this post?

Season 4 Preview & Info [Spoilers]
Misterian replied to duidamasterXD's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion

Ms. McCarthy already stated that Twilight, even as a Pirncess, will still be living in Ponyville and WON'T be separated from her friends. Granted, this does make the portrayal of Twilight's princesshood seem paltry, but I'm sure Season 4 will explain the reasons for that. though if there is any reason for Twilight's alicornhood and/or princesshood to be temporary, it might be the fact that she's a princess yet very little has changed in her life, it might cause her to ask herself what need is there for her to be a princess when it practically has changed almost nothing in her life aside from how she now has wings.
-
If Twilight's magic is the main concern of her being overpowered it still would be an odd question. 'Cause really, throughout the show Twilight's magic being uber-strong and amazing to.... not uberstrong and just somewhat amazing. Her magic basically adjusts to mostly whatever the plot demands. Granted, I might get suspicious if i see Twilight moving the sun and moon by herself, but even she does pull of some deus ex machina (I find even that doubtful though), I doubt we could really tell much difference compared to what we've already seen Twilight do before she became an Alicorn.
-
I find it extremely doubtful that either Twilight or Cadence are immortal Why, you might ask? it's quite simple in Cadence's case; If she was immortal, why would she marry Shining Armor, who is a mortal unicorn, if Cadence would just end up outliving her husband and any children they produce? It wouldn't make sense at all. And if Twilight would be immortal as an Alicorn, why didn't she reject her transformation if being an Alicorn meant she'd just outlive her friends and family for eternity? So while Meghan McCarthy already confirmed Twilight won't be immortal, I think in a sense we could've figured that out ourselves to a certain degree.

Alicorn Twilight and Prince BlueBlood's Baby ?!?!?
Misterian replied to MallowMelt's topic in Season 3 Discussion
Yeah, I can tell it's a fake. I already heard this was a hoax just after the last time I saw this months ago. And I think I heard Meghan McCarthy try to tell us fans that we've been overestimating Hasbro's control over the show, that Hasbro only meddles once in a while and the studio does have a voice of protest when necessary. And I'm sure the studio knows that not even with the best writing talent in the world they could in no way get audiences to accept the Twilight/Prince Blueblood pairing, especially with the shippers among the fanbase. And i think readers of the fanfic 'Past Sins' might be upset if it ever did turn out canon, which I know it won't.- 139 replies

In case some of you either forgot or didn't know, Meghan McCarthy HERSELF stated that Twilight WON'T be separated from her friends, she WON'T be moving out of Ponyville, and she WON'T even outlive her friends. Does someone need to copy-paste those facts and PM them to everyone in this forum for fans to start taking this into account when talking about Alicorn Twilight? i mean seriously...

gaming Games that badly overestimate the strength of its bad guys.
Misterian posted a topic in Media Discussion
Okay, ever play those games that, story-wise, like to paint certain foes as Demonic Spiders of enemies that everyone's afraid of and are supposed to be really tough to kill? Only to find yourself curb-stomping them faster than you can say "What a fight"? Take the Thalmor from Skyrim for instance, these are the guys that supposingly nearly destroyed the Empire? and wiped out most of the Blades? and certain NPC's like Delphine and Avulstein Grey-Mane talk about the idea frontal assaults on their bases as being nearly impossible. And adept difficulty, and at level 10, I tore through them as easily as most low-ranked bandits, as a Khajiit Archery specialist, and that was before getting to the part what I learn I was Dragonborn. Also, Caesar's Legion in Fallout: New Vegas, these are the guys that conquered over 80 tribes east of Nevada, was only barely defeated by the NCR during the first Battle of Hoover Dam, and everyone seems to talk about fighting members of the Legion as being practically as dangerous as fighting a Deathclaw. At VERY HARD difficulty, and with Hardcore Mode, I played several playthroughs of that game not only defeating the Legion at Nelson, but also going into Fortification Hill, guns blazing, and wiping The Fort CLEAN of all Legionaries, I even killed Caesar and his Praetorians every time. And just a side note, if you'd like a tip for fighting Deathclaws in Fallout New Vegas, one trick is to first cripple the one of the legs if you can. Anyone else played games where, story-wise, people clearly overestimate how powerful certain foes are? -
Okay, I know this is a weird question, but it's one that's been floating around my mind quite abit recently. In case you need me to elaborate; What if Nightmare Moon was going to return at the time when the Mane 6 were still fillies, and they somehow still all shortly meet in Ponyville, eventually getting the Elements of Harmony, defeating Nightmare moon, and brought back Princess Luna, again, as young CMC-aged fillies? How do you think the story would be affected by this hypothetical alteration?

What is wrong with Twilight getting a boyfriend?
Misterian replied to FruitRiver's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Here's my two cents about the idea. The main premise of MLP:FiM is about friendship, and I suspect throwing in a sudden romantic interest for one of the Mane 6 might mess with that considerably, though a romance between Rarity and Spike might arguably be an exception, but even then those character have taken plenty of time to interact and know each other, just as how any good romance should be done. And I think that can only work in that show because it's a romance dealing with two characters we already got to know for a good while and came to both like. But still, focusing on romance in a story about friendship can be like if a salad bar suddenly served someone a t-bone steak; out-of-place, somewhat arbitrary, and not what the customer came for. Now, I can't really speak neither with nor against this Flash Sentry guy, as I haven't watched Equestria Girls yet, and I'll only wait 'till the DVD release to watch it, if only to hear the commentary explaining the reasons behind half these choices they made for it. Though from what I'm hearing on these posts some of you posted, this Flash Sentry only appeared for the first time ever and story expects the audience to see a romantic connection between him and Twilight somehow. -
How can you tell that from the production codes? Anyway, I think oddly enough there might be one very easy way we can tell how permenent Twilight's status as Alicorn and/or Princess will be just by waiting for the fourth season intro. If we get to watch season 4 and we see Twilight doesn't have wings in the intro, it can tell us she'll somehow lose her status eventually.

Will Alicorn Twilight give S4 a new intro?
Misterian replied to KVoakes17's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Shows like The Simpsons and the Flintstones have been on longer than MLP:FiM has and they kept their theme music the same throughout. And I heard no one complain about that. So I personally see little to no reason why the overall theme song should change. Maybe some slight changes based on Twilight becoming and Alicorn, but I find it doubtful they'd flip it entirely.- 112 replies

Season 4 Preview & Info [Spoilers]
Misterian replied to duidamasterXD's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
You still haven't addressed how you think Scootaloo was just 'jumping' when she was in mid-air longer than one or two seconds. Also, I recently learned that Faust herself stated the only reason Scootaloo hasn't been able to fly was because she hasn't figured out how yet. And how do you know most people want Scootaloo to not be able to fly for the sake of this disability message? in this forum alone I've only heard you plus I think someone else afew pages back talking about it that way. Sounds a little mean-spirited if you ask me. -

Misterian replied to duidamasterXD's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
You call being in mid-air above two feet for more than 2 seconds 'jumping'? Plus, We don't even know if the upcoming 'disability' episode is even gonna be the same as the one with Scootaloo, far as we know, they could be introducing a completely new character that' disabled. Wouldn't be the first time something like that happened. -
Season 4 Preview & Info [Spoilers]
Misterian replied to duidamasterXD's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Not likely they'd go this route, not with Scootaloo anyway. You forget that in 'One Bad Apple' we DO see Scootaloo being capable of hovering briefly when in previous episodes she couldn't do anywhere near that sort of thing, in the same episode where Sweetie Belle was seen briefly sparking her horn when she previously couldn't use magic at all. What else are we supposed to make of these scenes if not that it IS possible for Scootaloo to fly? -

Will Alicorn Twilight give S4 a new intro?
Misterian replied to KVoakes17's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I doubt the main theme would be changed, and i don't think it should. I'm pretty sure the dev team already knows the fan backlash they got from making Twilight an Alicorn, if they changed their main theme of all things, they might accidentally make fans think they're delibrately trying to tick fans off. the animation for the intro, however, we'll just have to wait an see, if the intro remains unchanged, however, it would already say alot about what might happen if future episodes.- 112 replies
