I see no problem with it as long as the child doesn't get addicted to the games.
When a kid is younger, he or she definitely should be moderated on how many computer games he or she plays. If a parent doesn't do that, the parent is just lazy. :/
Later when he or she's a teen though, I think other factors should govern time, such as grades or how many extracurricular things he or she's doing. (Computer really does effect grades, especially comp. addiction.) If the person doesn't need set computer limits and can hold good grades (relative to the person we're speaking of) at the time, that means the parent did at least something right.
