Twilight looked down and read the instructions...and with the glow of her horn, a gigantic rift began to form in the library...the place went dark, and a glow began to form in the middle of the room...there was suddenly a flash of bright light! "It's...it's..." said Spike pointing in awe... ... There was a final flash of light... ... ...and Nicholas Cage fell out of the rift. (Sorry, just HAD to! ) -
I never played the ps2 remake...I only played the gameboy version...but it's really good! While it may start out slow...as the story progresses, it's actually a beautiful tale of re-discovery, loss, and finding yourself. There's also important backstory to some of the characters who later appear in kingdom hearts 2...so I say go further in...I was skeptical with the gameboy version too at first...but eventually you get used to the card system, and it actually works fairly well! just give it another chance, and watch where you go!

Did you like the MLP:FiM theme remix in EqG?
BrilliantVenture replied to Blue Moon's topic in Equestria Girls
lol thank you for your endorsement! means a lot! But yeah, like, on the whole quantinization point, for a lot of producers (myself included) we have like, some "Unspoken rules" that we have to go by every time we make a track...For instance, everything needs to be precisely in sync, and on time, or else the DJs that play our records will have trouble beatmatching them. Or bpm (beats per minute) standards based on genre...For instance, dubstep's standard bpm is 140, along with trance. House is around 128, and drum and bass 174-175bpm. Of course there's always exceptions, but generally there's just somethings you have to do when making EDM. Some of the rules get broken, and if they're broken the right way, it can sound really good...but the wrong way? and you get this remix...something that sounds unfinished, unpolished, and a little on the cheap side. BUT with the fantastic music used in "Pinkie Pride" yesterday, I think it's more than enough to let Ingram slide for this one- 77 replies

Waoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow... Really...I just can't explain how much I enjoyed this episode!...Like, I really can't... ..but I'll try! Okay...so let me start with my first impressions... The Writing/Guest Star I was worried about this. Yes. I was worried about this. Not much mind you, but a little bit. Let me start out by saying I LOVE Amy Keating Rogers... She's my absolute favourite writer on the show, and I always feel as if The stories she writes are amazingly intelligent, and full of heart. She truly captures what I and most others consider, to be the true spirit of MLP FIM. We also have Weird Al. I love his work, and the dude's been a legend for years! But to bring him into the show?...that's what scared me. You see, there's this thing I call "Adam Sandler Syndrome." Where basically EVERY movie he's in, you're not watching the character, you're watching Adam Sandler be Adam Sandler... And I was like, "Wow...I haven't really heard Weird Al act in anything other than his parodies! What if he just ends up sounding like himself, and his character feels too distanced and out of place?" But BOY WAS I WRONG! Weird Al was FANTASTIC!...and that's where I believe Amy Keating Rogers came into play a bit... She wrote some great stuff that covered many sides to his character...and to hear him be serious at some points? And do it well?...WOW...great teamwork between them both (Even if they never actually got to meet in person...which is kinda sad) I also LOVED the fact that there was a twist ending that I didn't expect...AKR is great at this! In episodes like "A Friend in Deed" or "Mmmmystery on the Friendship Express" you never quite knew how they were going to end...and that's the mark of a great writer! I didn't see the ending of this coming...and I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet. But this was the perfect finish to a wonderful episode! Also, another thing I love about Amy's work, is her ability to update old concepts and show them off in a brand new way! This plotline has been done in other shows, but she made it stand apart in its own special way! She did the same thing, with stories like the "last roundup" and "A friend in deed." We've all seen these concepts done before...but the way she writes them, breathes such new life and vision, and makes you go, "Wow...that was really something!" The Musical Score/Aspect I gotta give a BIG shout to Mr. Daniel Ingram for an EP's worth of FANTASTIC collaborative music in this episode. Pinkie's songs were top notch, and weird al's somehow blended perfectly between a balance of the show's signature style, and Weird Al's signature sound. First time I shed a tear in a while too, during the sad and emotional "Pinkie's Lament." Beautifully written song.. The other songs were fantastic too! And the pace of some of them (Like "The Super Duper Party Pony") was so neckbrakingly fast, it was amazing they pulled it off so well! Fast songs with lyrics are challenging to do correctly, especially when trying to convey a point in an intelligent way. Most people either get lost completely, or miss out on the "full impact potential" of the original intent, because there's too much being thrown at them at once...But this one handeled it somehow perfectly, and my goodness was it worth it! I will point out that the ending song "Make a Wish" is basically a sped up version of "This is our Big Night" from Equestria Girls...only this time with better lyrics, and a beat that DOESN'T sample/ripoff deadmau5's "Not Exactly." So thank you Daniel for some wonderful new material for my musical listening devices, it is greatly appreciated. The Acting/Emotion/Performance The acting was REALLY on par in this episode...you felt for who you were meant to feel for, you laughed when you were meant to laugh...it was truly a "Real" episode, and I feel the acting/performances given really reflected that. Libman killed it again, and alongside Weird Al, they played off eachother's performances perfectly. Everything hit where it needed to. Final thoughts/ratings Pinkie Pride is by far the strongest episode in the season so far. (IMO) It's got everything I hoped for, and nothing I didn't... The story was strong, the characters were strong, and it left me feeling very satisfied. I give this one a 9.5 out of 10. Yes...it almost tied with "A Canterlot Wedding" To me, it's that good... I'd really love to see more from Amy Keating Rogers in this season, and I can't wait to see where the show goes next! For sure, this episode made me smile, and gave me a little more faith that this season's going to turn out great! So Until Next Episode, Stay Brony My friends!

Did you like the MLP:FiM theme remix in EqG?
BrilliantVenture replied to Blue Moon's topic in Equestria Girls
Oh boy...I knew this topic would exist some day... Here's me, brilliant venture...big EDM Nerd, DJ, Producer... fan of all that makes good vibes... you'd think I'd love this remix right??? ... ... .. Right? ... .. . .. . ...I don't. Why not? For a number of reasons...but first let me start out by saying I flippin' LOVE Daniel Ingram...His musical style is genius, he has beautiful arrangements, and he makes some of the catchiest and professional songs I've ever heard in television, or in music itself... But I have a few problems here... 1.Synth Presets - This remix is LOADED with really stock and generic "techno" sounds...(a word I generally never use...but there's no other description that fits it properly...) The presets are really bland and just sound like a default VST in FL Studio, now I'm fine with simplistic sounds as long as they're arranged well and have something creative added to them, and the drums sound like they were taken from a vengeance sample pack without ANY EQ done to them whatsoever, and put into a very very generic pattern...which brings me to number 2. 2.Bad Structure - You notice how some of these synths don't go together at all? and some of the extra countermelodies/sounds are a bit out of place? The structure of the song and the instruments chosen don't sound all that great here...that, and the tempo/bpm is too slow! I know some electronic songs that can pull off slow tempo, but in this...it only drags out how primitive and poor some of these synths sound, and how flawed some of the vocal stretching/warping is. There's a lot of parts as well that collide with eachother and sound very unfinished, and crowded. And speaking of crowded that brings me to my third point. 3.Bad mixdown - The EQing, FX, and levels are all over the place here...there's a lot of unnecessary panning at some points, the drums are too loud at points, the lead synths are too quiet, the vocals are okay...but it's just the original acapella with a bit of melodyne and stutter...but now I have to bring up the biggest gripe with the project... 4.QUANTIZATION - Oh...my...gosh...this is the main reason I'm not a fan of this...the drums are SOOO off time! they're too delayed! you can tell right from the first drum hit that it's a many milliseconds off...now I know what you're thinking.."Milliseconds? c'mon! isn't that severe nitpicking?" to which I will respond NO! quantizing is SO EASY...the program practically does it for you! There's no real excuse for this to be the way it is! in fact...now that I think about it...I'm pretty sure he got the drums from a sample pack, and didn't set the start time at the beginning of the wavform...because some sample packs have kick samples that have just a tiny bit of dead air before the drum kick actually starts...so it sounds delayed! But seriously, it's not that hard to right click and hit "Snap to grid" So yeah..I know this is a ton of "nerd speak" but I really feel this project could have been executed better. I love Daniel Ingrams work, but perhaps he should stick to what he knows best rather than put out straight up EDM...or at least get some practice with it first! I mean, I'm sorry...I really am to those who like it...but fact is, I'm not that great of an artist, and I'm certainly not as well known, but even I could easily remake this remix...and make it sound better! It was a good try on Dan's part...but not for me. That is of course my opinion, and you are free to disagree as you wish. (And also on an unrelated note, the ending song "This is our big night (reprise)" is a complete ripoff of deadmau5 - Not Exactly with presets used in "Call me Maybe"...fun fact eh? like seriously! You can hear the original bassline and the exact drum pattern from not exactly, and those string synths...jepsen strings all the way.)- 77 replies

okay...I've got one of the best ones...guarenteed...so read till the end. it's worth it... I work at an arcade/amusement complex as an assistant manager (soon to be a manager) We get this couple come over to me and say "Hey sir, the puck wont come out of air hockey" So I think to myself "Okay, this is not that unusual, the air hockey tables we have are pretty old...so they get stuck sometimes" So I go over there, and lift up the table about an inch and drop it (It's not a very hard drop...it fixes the problem most of the time too!) and I see that the puck doesn't come out...so I try it again, and I go over to the other table and see if some kid put the puck in the second table by mistake. One puck...one missing...so I think.."Well, someone must have stolen it again or lost it" (which really does happen) so I go to get a new puck out of the redemption room, and I go back and I see that the air jets aren't on...and I say to the couple "Awe man...your time must have run out! I'll give you 2 coins to re-start the game" and then they responded... "But we didn't put any coins in there!" A small part of me died that day...

okay...quick synopsis?...here goes. I...was "meh" about this episode... It was pretty good at the beginning, had some potential in the middle, and fell through at the end...for me at least. In this episode discord is back, which is a real surprise considering the fact they already used him a lot in the Premiere. Not really "that" much time has passed. I hope he doesn't become overused, but still...I love a good John de Lancie episode, and he did really well in this. Really, John was on par and outstanding! So mega props to him. But my main issue on this was the writing... There were some great references in the song, there was some great dialogue in the opening, and to be honest the episode flowed quite smoothely...But here's my 2 main problems with this one...The first, is that the ending was entirely predictable...I knew instantly what was going to happen from the start, and was disappointed to find out my prediction was true. One of the things I love about MLP is that in the earlier episodes, and some of the later ones in the season, it always had a pretty good way of making you believe something was going to be the outcome, and then completely turning things around in the end. This one's "twist" was very weak... (However I will say that the strange sneezing plant/worm/tentacle thing was an incredibly horrifying surprise!) But my main issue with this episode was Cadence...lemme start out by saying, I know she gets a bad rep from some as being just "a new pony made to sell toys" but I love her design, VA, and just herself in general. I was really excited to have her in an episode! And while Britt did a great job voice acting...the script was very...bland. Especially the ending...My main issue is that while I was happy to see Cadence here, it didn't felt like she needed to be there...the concept would have worked just fine if Twilight had gone through everything with Discord by herself...I felt Cadence was very forced into this script so it just felt bland...I mean, here's a thought... Just hear me out... The ending would have worked way better if we had actually gotten to SEE why Cadence was all "My life in the Crystal Empire has become predictable" n' stuff...If they had actual footage running of like the townspeople boring her in a comedic way or something, or anything visual to give her some real developement...that would make the things in this episode more acceptable. But no...all we get is dialogue saying "oh yeah, since you left...I've had some developement, and it turns out I miss the old days fighting the forces of evil with you!" which just feels very underwhelming to me, especially to be the "closer" of the episode... That all being said though, there was a lot to appreciate here, good animation style, good vibes in some parts, good music by daniel Ingram (As always!) and a great trip from john. So all in all, I give it a 6.5 out of 10. Script flows, music was good, VA was on par as always...but the writing was a little bit "meh" this time. So yeah! That's my review, take care until the next episode! ... oh you're still here?...why are you looking at me like that?... I forgot to mention something?...oh don't be absurd... There was something else to cover you say?... A blue haired stallion?... ... .. *Sigh...fine...I'll talk about it. So yeah, Flash Sentry has a cameo here...to be honest, I didn't notice because the scene went by fast, I was focusing more on Cadence at the time, and I really wasn't expecting him to be in this season... I guess I have to say first of all, I don't like Flash...to me he's a boring, generic, copycat of every "popular guy" who got what they wanted without effort, has the emotional range of a teaspoon, and focuses mainly on looking "Cool." Am I super upset about this being part of the episode?...no. It was such a small part, and there was no interaction with the other characters whatsoever, so it didn't really bother me. If he talked?...then all would burn and the wrath of Brilliant Venture would be upon thee! (Jk, really...it's just a show people...I love it as much as you do, but it's one character out of a ton of other amazing ones...let's focus on them shall we?) But yeah, do I want Flash/Brad in Season 4 even if he's only in the background?...no...not really... He doesn't really need to be there. But I'm not going to leave the fandom if he is... The best way I can put it, is that if you think about it, the world is full of different people, some great, some not-so-great...but you have to learn to deal with and accept all of them as human beings. You can't let a "bad apple" spoil the whole bunch... Coming from a musician/producer, let's put it in a musical perspective...because this is the best example I can think of... Say on one hand you have a massive group of artists that make organic and original music, just wonderful songs that drive you deep to the core. And then you have this blue haired rich kid, ("Brad" as we'll call him, or Will.I.Am as a similar example) who steals other people's music/patches/vocals/melodies/whatev. and tries to get popular off it. Are we going to let such a small group of uncreative people poison an entire group of musicians? or the entire concept of music itself? no! Instead, we ignore it...it's cancer yes...but a cancer that can't keep up with the fast moving pace of the surrounding industry! The same goes for flash sentry here...unless he becomes a majour intergal part of the show, (which is a scary thought but highly unlikely) just ignore him, and let it go...who knows? he may even turn around one day and actually show some character/originality. So all the flash-haters who are going crazy over this small segment...keep calm. There's more to MLP than flash...focus on that part! (Disclaimer Note!: If you like flash, or disagree with my opinion on him, you are entitled to your beliefs, just as I am entitled to mine. I realize some people like that character and they have every right to. this is all simply based on opinon and what I have seen. )

Funny enough, I just beat the original Paper Mario tonight! Me and the wife try and play through it once every year or so...it's still one of the best games I've ever played...but to me, it got a little too dark as it went on...all I have to do is post the music from "River Twygz Bed" and no one will sleep tonight...but I digress...The remake of mario 64 was pretty cool, in fact that, and mario kart DS were the main reasons I wanted a DS so badly (And I still haven't gotten one...hmmmph!) But I will say I didn't like mario kart wii all that much, mainly because I only really played with the wii-mote steering wheel at a relatives house, and couldn't understand why something that was supposedly "the best virtual reality wireless controller thing ever" was so laggy...that was my main problem with the WII is that for me, any game I ever played, always just felt really slow and unresponsive...and that was after flipping through the settings... And on another unpopular note while ranting...I really hated Super smash bros. brawl...for a number of reasons. (And before people post it, no...I haven't played brawl plus or minus...I've heard it's really really good and fixes a lot of the problems I'm about to name, but I haven't met anyone that has a copy, and considering the fact that I don't own a wii, I can't get it myself...so I'm kinda out of luck there) But let's get to the reasons shall we? The main reasons are pretty much the same as the others posted above...but with a slight twist... I felt they were trying to hard to be cool...They made the graphics final fantasy quality, but again the downfall was the lag... And I played it with both the wii-mote controller and the gamecube controller...I still couldn't do it! It reminds me of the controls in Rayman 2, Laggy, a bit unresponsive, and a little confusing...plus at times, I felt like the hit detection was off...maybe it's just me, but at this point I've played it enough to forumlate that it's just too laggy compared to the old ones, and to try and keep up with all the new "Features" was a bit of a pain...For me a good sequel to melee would have been melee with some new classic characters, and brand new stages. We already had enough items after melee, and I really don't think we needed anymore... And that brings me to my biggest complaint about the game...the lack of creativity and sheer pandering to fans. To me, this was embarassing...Did SSB really need sonic or snake? did it need Pikmin? And while R.O.B. is a neat peice of nintendo history, did it really need a character in the game??? What'll they do next? let you play as the powerglove or the NES Miracle Piano? And on the subject of uncreative things...the absolute BIGGEST complaint are some of the new items, the BIGGEST being the smash ball...yes...the smash ball...THEY MADE AN ITEM OUT OF THE LOGO! like...are you kidding me??? What if they took Fighting is Magic and made the My Little Pony Logo a weapon??? It's like they're running out of ideas! I dunno man...it's crazy to think of...but when it comes down to it, it's all opinion, I know some people love it, and that's fine...people can like what they like, but to me...melee was the last game of the series... Wow...that was a long rant...but I guess it's relevant when you count the fact that I would rather them end SSB rather than keep making more...So yeah...rant over lol. -

BrilliantVenture replied to Black Licorice's topic in Media Discussion
I'm going to say something really...well...flame-war ish...but hear me out please... Mario. Yes. I said it. Please don't kill me... Before I continue though, lemme just say, that mario is my favourite franchise of all time... My favourite consoles are the NES and the N64 specifically for that reason. Paper Mario ranks as one of my top favourite Video games of all time, alongside games like Mario 64, Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, and of course the original SMB games on the NES and SNES... but todays mario games??? I'm...so sad... Too much animation, too much focus on graphics quality, slow gameplay and gimmicky consoles really boil my kettle...it's not about the game anymore, it's about powerups, and re-hashes, and poor storylines...what happened??? The last good mario game I played was Super Mario 3D, on the 3DS, and the only reason I liked it was because it felt like super mario 64...(and the 3D effect is actually kinda cool...still a little too gimmicky though) I mean look at this... Even the covers express how bad its gotten!!! Remember this? or This? Really Nintendo! What happened??? I'm sorry...but it's like, either go back to your roots and make an amazingly good platformer, or just go home... The new games just don't feel like they used to... And I do have to agree on the kingdom hearts thing...that's another one of my favourite games, possibly my most favourite of all time! But for it to be on SO many consoles with the same story line??? Why couldn't it just stay on the playstation??? I dunno...but I digress...those are my opinions, flame away! (And yes...I agree on Call of Duty, Borderlands, MWF, Halo etc. etc. That stuff's getting old!) -

Wow! Thanks a lot guys! I've got some new stuff on the horizon too...some pony related stuff actually... It's still in beta and probably won't be out for a while, but I've got some cool stuff coming soon... Actually, I'll give you a couple of descriptions/spoilers...I've got a really crazy bigroom electro/brostep track about discord called "For the Love of Chaos" That will be on the Pony EP, as well as a very melodic and trancey brostep remix of Daniel Ingram's "Find a Way" So yeah, all that and more will be coming relatively soon! Thanks for listening! Chaos" almost finished, -
OHMYGOSH OMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OMYGOSH! FanTASTIC episode! Okay Brill...chillout...you got this... *ahem. The episode was a particularly pleasing one for me...I felt the writing was strong, the character development was hardcore, I'm more than pleased to see the return of derpy, but the MAIN thing...is the type of story this was...It felt like a season 1 episode! Simple premise, a big moral decision, a fantastic payoff, and some great references! This is definitely a top 10 episode for me (Canterlot Wedding being my #1) but all in all, I give this one a 9/10...I didn't think corey powell could do it, but MAN, he did it...I look forward to seeing more of his work this season...so much hope is restored. (Plus there's an Amy Keating Rogers episode coming soon! and she's my favourite writer! So I look soooo forward to that!)

Season 4: Sort of disappointing?
BrilliantVenture replied to Hangman's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
For all those that can't quite pinpoint why they aren't as enthralled, or feel that the season has a different mood to it... I'm pretty sure this is why... When the series started out, it was a wonderful little show about friendship, and learning lessons... But they did it in a fun and creative way that made re-learning these lessons enjoyable! Why were we so attracted as bronies? Because it opened up a sensitive part of our hearts that connected us with the show...it put us in a positive mood and reminded us how important love and morality is...Just listen to the intro!...like we all know it... but really listen to it...that's what's missing from season 4..."A Beautiful Heart faithful and strong, sharing kindness, it's an easy feat..." in fact, I think this season's new intro sums it up pretty well...there's so much crammed in there that's been added...luna, discord, the whole town at the end...there's too much going on...I feel what's missing the most, is the message... It's not as prominent as it was before...I'd rather have something that both teaches and entertains me rather than just entertains...That's what I loved about the show when I started watching it, is that it retaught me things that wern't as important to me at the time, and suddenly made them majourly important to me! I feel we're at fault for this...we asked for it...in fact, If I remember right, equestria girls was only created because hasbro thought "We wanted it" due to all the humanized pony drawings online...We asked for this, and we got it...and now we're realizing that perhaps the show should have just been left to the writers...let the writers do their thing...it's what they're paid to do! And if they want to throw in a reference here and there, that's cool...but it shouldn't be a main focus. I do like season 4, and I feel there are both good and bad episodes. But I think when it comes down to it, it's like suited for success...We had our own ideas about what would make the show better, when it was already perfect before... I dunno...those are my feelings at least... -
