gaming Video Game Emulation
BrilliantVenture replied to Revy ~ Two Hands's topic in Media Discussion
I don't really do computer emulation anymore...once I got my psp and installed CFW, I put emulators on there for the N64, Sega Genesis, the NES, SNES, GB, and the GBA. I may put more on there at a later time...but we'll see. It's nice playing some of my favourite old games on there though!- 37 replies

okay...here's my take...yes. she was out of character. but at the same time, she wasn't... I know that sounds confusing but let me explain...I feel the whoooooole episode could have worked better if one small detail had been added. What is that detail you ask? The answer is... ... ... ...a better explained reason. Allow me to expand on this. Imagine if in "Lesson Zero" twilight was just like, "okay...I don't want to be tardy" and then in the next scene, WHAMO! she was the crazy twilight at the end of the episode...that's what I felt happened here...if there had been more of a psychotic step-by-step breakdown in applejacks mind throughout the episode her insanity would have flowed with the story better, and the over-the-top out of characterness would be more merited...but no, what we got was just..."I'm worried about applebloom! now I'm going to go berserk over her! BLKJA;LKJDOIJA;LKDJF;OIJ;J!" I mean...you can just assume applejack had a mental breakdown between her trip with big mac, and when she came back to the house...but in film and animation, it is better to show rather than tell...And that's what I really feel lacked there. Using twilight as an example again here...would we really expect twilight to go nuts and cause a whole town of ponies to go crazy over a stuffed doll, and decide to cause a problem for others just to satisfy her own needs?...now that's WAAAAY out of character! But the way it was done made it alright, because it was a gradual progression within a short time...applejacks just wasn't handled as well, which made the OOC part seem...well...OOC! I think that's the real reason people have a problem with this episode...but who knows...maybe I'm overlooking something. But anyway, those are my two bits... -Brill-

Quick Help about the FanFic: Cupcakes
BrilliantVenture replied to wiltonwild's topic in Sugarcube Corner
ok, I have your solution guaranteed... First, know that this is by no means a canon story...To prove this to yourself, if you read the whole story and see the video (please don't) twilight doesn't have wings yet...so it would have had to take place while twilight was still just a unicorn. Since rainbow dash is still alive in the canon series, it proves it as just a silly fanfic and something that would never happen in equestria... Second, if you still feel a bit uneasy with it, watch "Rainbow Dash Presents : Cupcakes" on youtube...it's a hilarious parody of the fanfic, which will make you smile rather than feel sad. Hope it helps! =Brill= -

MLP Amnesia : The Small Horse

to be honest, I wore mine way before I got into the show...it was my Granddad's...and it's one of my favourite hats I own. I don't understand why they have such a bad rep...but y'know what? I don't wanna know...my fedora is special to me, it reminds me of my Granddad...and I don't see anything wrong with that.

Well my biggest gripe to start out with, was the fact that this is the mane 6 that we're talking about...they've battled discord, chrysalis, sombra, nightmare moon, etc. but here we see Daring Do get attacked, and what do they do? they just stand there and let her fend for herself! I mean, c'mon! No help whatsoever? And twilights an alicorn princess, the most powerful type of pony there is!...and yet?...nothing... Not only that...but Rainbow went waaaaaaaaaay overboard on this one. I mean for Celestia's sake...she didn't even freak out about the wonderbolts as much as Yearling! And this was after only one episode where Dash reads a book and enjoys it? I mean come on now...also in reference to the first thing I mentioned, why is Daring such a special deal anyway? I mean, I have nothing against her...but they're treating her like Celestia in this episode...even though they've easily surpassed her abilities! I dunno...I just feel as though the episode could have been executed waaaaay better, or just shouldn't have been done...but then again, that's only my opinion, and others are free to disagree as they might.

Humans must've existed in equestria!
BrilliantVenture replied to Rarity Paige Belle's topic in Sugarcube Corner
A long long time ago... The human race had curiosity of aliens...Area 51 and Roswell knew the truth... The Pone War was on the verge of happening...the flying saucers? Pegasi spying and bringing reports back to Equestria... The Loch Ness Monster?...Steven Magnet after an early BP Oil Spill...not the company BP...but a Scottish boy named Burke Pattingshire. He spilled an oil drum in part of the Loch Ness waters where Steven Magnet used to live as a young sea serpent. This caused his scales to change colour, and ruin his natural mustache...which scarred him for life, and caused Mr. Magnet to switch sides and join the equestrian spy community, and later to obsess over his appearance's amount of "Fabulosity." Every single extra-terrestrial or abnormal being were actually equestrian spies plotting their takeover... One day there was a huge war, many lives were claimed but the last ones standing were the Equestiran Empire... E-Squared for short...But after looking around at the remains of humanity, The ponies felt ashamed of their actions afterwards...and began to try and clean their slates by promoting friendship and kindness...they never wanted to remind themselves of what they did...which is why Equestria is now the kingdom it is... ... ... ... ... ...or it could just be a show about colourful talking ponies. -
How do the ponies of Equestria go to the bathroom?

I'll give you my top 10 10.The other ponies abandoning pinkie in "pinkie pride" - yeah other people have brought this up...it was very uncomfortable to watch and was very disheartening...but then I remembered "rainbow has always been a bit insensitive sometimes" and that kinda made things more believeable. That and the fact that we all have been impressed by someone new at one point, and we sometimes accidentally neglect others without intending to. This is pretty low on my list, because it has a good explanation to it, and the rest of the episode was fantastic! 9.The ending scene in magical mystery cure : My main complaint here, is that twilight got her wings and at the end of this episode becomes a great flyer! Then we cut to "princess twilight sparkle" and "Equestria girls" and suddenly, she lost her flying skills...it's more of a lack of continuity that bugs me about that scene. 8.Flash Sentry in "Three's a crowd" : you lied to us meghan...we'll remember this. (it's not that big of a deal...but still...) 7.Fluttershy going off on Rarity and Pinkie : That scene went a bit too far...like, I don't really need to say anything much more than that... 6.The plant monster from "Three's a crowd" : That thing...was terrifying. And sooooooo out of place. Like for real, I remember watching that episode and going DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG! Like, I felt that scene was trying too hard to say, "I'm not just a show for little girls!" which really made it feel uncomfortable. 5.The cutie mark crusaders song for the talent show : That's an obvious one...just because it was so hard to watch...plus the ending of that episode basically spoiled the whole "freedom to be who you want to be" thing, by obviously exposing what their cutie marks will be! 4.Stop the Bats! : The song...I love the song...but it's so out of character for all these friends to gang up on fluttershy and act so close minded. Especially twilight, who just became a princess! She should have been a bit more mature there eh? 3.All the cliffhangers so far : Who was that shadow figure at the end of Castle-Mania? what's up with fluttershy's bat-tooth? is pinkie pie really an apple? all these loopholes and more need to be tied up, and I honestly don't think they can do it by the end of the season without rushing it...it's just too much! So now everytime I see one of these scenes, I get a little frustrated, because I feel as though it's something we'll never know! All that may change however, depending if they can make it work or not...So we'll see... 2.Duckfaces : WHY ON EARTH...did they need to put those in there? I would understand if it was a "popularized" and "prissy" pony...but pinkie pie?...applejack?...scootaloo? it's already annoying in real life...I don't want to see my ponies doing it too 1.Daring Dont (The whole episode) : This was one of the worst episodes in the show's history...there were so many out of character moments, so many plot holes, everything was a majour mess...it ranks up there with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3...it doesn't exist.

How Did Rarity Forget Spike Likes Her?
BrilliantVenture replied to Grumpy Enchantress's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
hm...with the news out that the show will go on for 5 more years, and can't help but think of this as sort of a Family Matters/Star Wars thing... yeah...I just put those two things in the same sentence, but bare with me. For those of you who don't know family matters, there is a character by the name of "Steve Urkle" who's this really geeky nerdy chaotic guy with a really kiddish attitude who plays accordion. (Imagine kinda like a black version of Weird Al as a child) And he's got a massive crush on his neighbour's daughter "Laura." The whole running joke of the series was that steve was too young and too weird for laura, and she always kept pushing him away and using him to her advantage whenever she wanted something. Sounds familiar eh? But by the end of the series (Which lasted a really long time) The relationship changed, and Laura grew closer to steve, and it ended with them together and happy about it! Also, there's Star Wars...you have Anakin as a little kid who loved Padm'e and after 1 episode went by they both aged a ton and got married. (That's like, and abridged version of family matters) Okay, maybe the star wars thing wasn't the best example because frankly...the relationship was pretty bland...("I hate sand...it's so course and grainy...unlike you") but I feel that was due to bad writing...it can work, and I think perhaps it could very well work in my little pony! Just my thoughts atm. -

Amnesia : The Small Horse Finale It's going to be amazing! -
no....not gonna believe it. Until it happens...no. no. no. no. no. no. no. no. I don't think this will be canon...no. no. It can't be. There'd be no reason to change the environment of everyone and everything that makes the show so interesting and make all the characters rainbow, which would seperate them from having unique differences but still being friends. no. No...NO. There's no way. I simply refuse to believe it...

So far?...It's hurting my Eyes Part 2. One of the most fun and creative games I've played in a looooong time! Although, I'm sure the last part of the small horse series, will be able to dominate that! -

visual art Drew a kitty cat!
BrilliantVenture replied to -FlutterSnipe-'s topic in Non-Pony Art & Creations
for some reason, I am reminded of this video... especially at 2:14 -
This one was pretty fun! While I found the climax at the end to be a little...eh...anticlimatic. (The whole mud on the dress thing snapping rarity out of her crazy phase) It did its job, and in the end...it was an okay resolution...it just felt kinda fast to me. Other than that though, I felt this was a classic applejack vs. rarity episode, and it's something I've wanted to see again for a while now! There were some really great laughs in this episode, and the concept I believe was very well done. And it's a great concept at that! I really am glad Josh Haber (The writer of this episode) decided to join the team...I like his style! Very season 1-ish...I also found it pretty awesome that basically EVERY background pony was in this episode...we had derpy, carrot top, lyra and bon bon, doctor whooves, and of course Vinyl Scratch, were all there which felt very awesome to witness. So yeah, story wise, it was a simple concept, which I thought was handled pretty well...I hope the whole trenderhoof thing doesn't go anywhere further at this point. (Romantically) because I still feel that (with the exception of spike and rarity) romance shouldn't be a big thing in the show. But in this case, it was done pretty well... I find it interesting that most people felt the same way I did about this episode according to the poll. We "liked it"...but...I think that's kind of a good thing. with last weeks MONSTER of an episode, we needed something to wind back down with, that would set up the mood for some more "slice of life" stuff. This episode wasn't amazing, but it was very enjoyable and worth a re-watch. For the score, I give it a healthy 7.8/10 Probably about the same as I would have given the slumber party episode back in season 1. So yeah, good episode!

BrilliantVenture replied to Celestial Wish's topic in Media Discussion
My first games were on the original GameBoy. I didn't have any consoles till much later, so all I had to play growing up was "Tetris" "Nemisis" and "Super Mario Land"...which were all great games! I played them quite a lot. -

Streamer animations

Does anyone else hate the streamer animations they use in mlp? like...these things... <--------- / / / I dunno why, but it's like...you have this awesome show with beautiful animation... and then...these silly things come out of nowhere anytime something epic happens... and they look TERRIBLE! They don't match the rest of the animation style, they look as stiff as ice, and no matter WHERE they're placed, they stick out like sore thumbs! I mean, I love the show and all...but these streamers...man...they just get me! anyone else find them terribly fakey? XD
