  1. I won't lie, I only really skimmed through this blog, but not being proud of being a brony in general is something I can not only relate to, but totally understand.

I've met some really cool, amazing people through this fandom - but I've also seen the fandom as a whole be intolerant at times of such miniscule differences. It's saddening and I've been harassed by other bronies before, back in my early days in the fandom before people started to treat Rarity with a little respect, just because of my best pony - and those guys spammed my e-mail account with vomit inducing porn, too, so it wasn't just an "lol your pony sucks" type ordeal, too.

I only accept the term "brony" because, by definition, I am a brony, but the majority of the time I just find that I refer to myself as a "fan" or a "Rarity fan" :D

  2. I always viewed it as an "unofficial canon" type deal, to where if you wanted to believe it tied in with the show than it's fine, but it isn't official and doesn't have to be considered true canon - which is why I usually just shoot it down when people try to use something from the comics as if it were actual canon from the show.

I loved the Return of Chrysalis arc and I'd consider that canon, but I would've burned the Nightmare Rarity arc after reading it, had I possessed it in a form that was other than digital (so I just deleted it from my Comixology library. Huge waste of money) and I won't ever believe that to be something to have happened in a show setting until the day I die, and hell, I'd take that to my grave :please:

So I guess it's kind of just pick and choose to me, but it'll never be 100% canon.

  3. A lot (read: 99.99% of it) is bred from a desire to dislike a character. As someone who was dealt with a LOT of Rarity haters, the stuff I was reading coming from the other side was side-splittingly misinformed - so much so that I question if they even paid a seconds' worth of attention to her character at all, and that goes for all mane 6 ponies -none of them are unlikable, you're just choosing not to like them for whatever reason. That sort of thing is saddening, honestly. Hatred is such a useless emotion to begin with, but I pity those who feel the need to spread that to a small cartoon horse.

One thing I've noted is how they just LOOK for negative things about the pony at times as well - it feels more like they're clinging on to save face and throwing the smallest things out to try and further degrade the character rather than actually stating their opinions. Opinions are opinions, and you're always totally free to have your own - but if someone disagrees, just because it's your opinion doesn't make it correct at all. Opinions are NOT fact. People should grow up and listen to the other side of the argument rather than wander around in clear ignorance. That behavior is toxic and affects everyone around you with negativity, but good luck convincing them that.

People just don't like to be wrong. Selfish, really. Oh well - it's things like this that lead me to lose my faith in the angels in the heart of man, even though I wish to believe that humans are good.

That's just an unreasonably tall order, unfortunately.

  4. I won't deny that you're blog last night was pretty...uncool. I mean, I really can't see any similarities to same-sex relationships and luxury cars that are prone to exploding...hypothetical scenario or not, that didn't make a lick of sense.

Throwing the bible at homosexual relationships is really just going to raise hell, though, since there's a lot of homosexual/bisexual/non-heterosexual in general people in this community. This is something that you really shouldn't bring up out of the blue, because you're going to offend lots of people, including myself, and I'm a heterosexual.

So, my advice is to only talk about that subject if asked, because if they ask and get offended, well, they asked. I don't support your ideals, and they don't make any sense to me, but I'll at least give you credit for apologizing to all of the people you offended, which was probably around 98% of the people who saw that blog.

Anyway, I can't say no harm done, because I'd be lying, but I can say thanks for apologizing :D

  5. dear god I hate this 22 minute thing featuring cartoon ponies so much Usually, when I review an episode myself, I prefer to look at it from a show standpoint, rather than a writer standpoint, given it's more fun that way - not criticizing the way the writers did their job but looking at things based on the show itself and how I found it enjoyable and unenjoyable.

This "episode" is literally the one exception to my little "don't review the writers, review the ponies" rule I got going for me, because I hate it that much :okiedokielokie:

One of these days I'm going to get around to writing up a review of it, listing out the major problems I have with it. I've already made a few of my problems with this thingy clear in a couple of posts regarding my least favorite episode (I have trouble declaring it that, though.), but there's enough bullshit in this episode to give me enough bullshit to last a lifetime :okiedokielokie:

Somewhat surprised on the "No cons" perspective you just provided - while I didn't expect disdain towards this episode upon reading this review (certainly not on my level of hatred for this...thing) I can't help but find it far from flawless in any regard. Meh - most, if not all of the flaws I found in this 22-minute time span, are underlying ones (which makes it even more irritating. At least the flaws in "Rainbow Falls" were up front with themselves) so it's really just an itchy, under my skin feeling for me.

I know I was pretty vague with what I hated about this episode in this comment, but I'm saving up to write a blog about this episode myself - and no spoilers :D People probably want a reason as to why I hate this episode so much, or they just assume "Oh, he hates it because Rarity looked bad" or something - either way, they're going to get what they asked for and a whole lot more :D

    Bleh. Now it's time to go listen to some happy music and wish I was asleep, because it's wayyyy too early for me to be awake ;_;

  6. That Trixie figure is nice 0_0

The Trixie figure is very nice. Good pick.

Yeahh - it's actually a Limited Edition Collector's Item, and I'm going to be receiving my shipment from the first edition :D

They're only making 2 batches of these figures, one batch shipping out late next month (which is when I'll be getting mine) and one batch shipping out late October - after that, these aren't going to be made anymore ever :D

Very nice pickup, if you ask me.

  7. Why does it matter? :muffins: You're implying that people don't make a load of grammatical errors as is - dude, if people saying "literally" as a way to accent their statement is going to bother you enough to have you write an essay on why it's wrong and no one should do it, you'd have a mental breakdown if you came here to Texas.

I'll write down, word for word, a conversation I had with my grandma this morning:

"Riley! The lawn needs mowin' tomorrow. The grass is gettin' to be too high."

"I don't got no time for none of that, grandma! It's gonna be a Saturday and I'm gonna enjoy myself before I gotta get back to school in a couple of months!"

"Riley, ain't no need in arguin' with me. You're the one who said he was wantin' to make a little bit of money to put toward them ponies you got plastered all over this here room. If you don't wanna mow tomorrow, that's fine, but don't you come crawlin' up to me askin' me to give you the time to mow if you ain't gonna do it tomorrow."

"Dammit, grandma. Fine, but I ain't gonna enjoy it none."

This state would kill you. Especially when you hear how thick the accents we have are.

Again, don't expect people to take this literally - it's really just a pet peeve that isn't really problematic to anyone but you. Just don't use it yourself - we all have pet peeves, but most of them there's no point in trying to change :D

  8. That's possible, but if you've been a parent for almost 2 years, you don't just forget that you have a child all of a sudden. As a parent your kids should be the first thing on your mind. You have an obligation to them.

Yeahh, you get no argument from me there :D That was very irresponsible on his part...kind of feel bad for the wife, though - her husband is getting charged with murder because he was an idiot and it led to her child's death.

  9.

How do you forget?! Toddlers don't just sit in their car seats. All small children are hyperactive beasts. That kid would have been squirming or trying to talk to his father or banging something around...point being: that toddler would have made some kind of noise, a constant reminder that he's there in the back seat. I don't buy the story that he forgot the kid was in the car. That's a load of bullshit. You have to be on something to not notice your kid back there.

Actually, it IS possible that the child was asleep - people usually go to work early in the mornings and babies sleep most of the day, and are generally quiet while they do so, so that could play a role here. Just thought I'd point that out.

However, that doesn't excuse him for that display of poor parenting, given it cost a life. That's inexcusable, asleep or not, I agree. Who just forgets their child is in the car, anyway? It doesn't matter if they're asleep or not, it's yer kid :V That's inexcusable.
