Garage sales... They give but they also take. Now would that be the feeling of regret or relief?

It's not my fault, the dude won't stay down! Now I'm feeling vengeful.

I'm ready to defeat Ganon once and for all.

I kind of like it. Much like what I was thinking but with some world building thrown in as well which would match up with the 'explore Equestria' theme the season is supposed to follow. Does seem very reminiscent of Flight to the Finish and Hurricane Fluttershy but with a different interpretation. Too derivative in my opinion. But if I got to see Coco Pommel again I might reconsider.

Ideas for a Guardians of Harmony show
Roughshod replied to Plonkett's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I'd rather see a MLP show with a TV-PG rating with a little bit of FV(Fantasy Violence) involved too. One idea would be to centre it around Celestia and Luna before Luna's banishment to the moon, 1'000 years ago. There's a lot that could be done with that I think. We would end up seeing a lot of the same villains again but it could be done in a way that gives them better exposure and back story. Starswirl would be there too. -
There are many great songs out there but one that especially rings true and would work as my theme song is '3 Purple Butterflies' by Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker. https://m.youtube.com/watch?list=PLEAEC7AE6CB89634E¶ms=OAFIAVgI&v=b9IhxG3PT04&mode=NORMAL

general Are you in any clubs at school?
Roughshod replied to gamecubeguy214's topic in General Discussion
I was in a debate club once but I left because no one could agree on anything. -
general have you ever got to write a ridiculous paper for school?
Roughshod replied to iceestarz's topic in General Discussion
I once wrote a ten page essay on the various existential crises symbolized in the cartoon show The Powerpuff Girls. However this was not done for school, I did this of my own volition and for my own amusement and edification. I gave/got an A-. -
general How long does it take you to fall asleep?
Roughshod replied to Member Berry's topic in General Discussion
About ten seconds. I just hit the power button and it all goes dark pretty fast... Then I wake up in the morning. -
A misunderstanding leads the ponies to think that Starlight Glimmer/Diamond Tiara has gone back to their old ways and they do everything to show they've changed for the better. Lesson: Your past doesn't determine your future; everypony can change. Or Princess Twilight Sparkle enters a rodeo dancing competition with her friends but they struggle to be honest with her due to her status. Lesson: Everypony deserves the truth.(A bit like Leap of Faith but with some minor changes)

Forgiveness as the theme of season 5
Roughshod replied to Professional Horse's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I see the point you're making here. I agree that season 5 put a heavy emphasis on the theme of forgiveness as well as just tying up lose ends in the series. The other major theme was that of cutie marks of course, but this one of forgiveness and redemption was more underlying to the progression of the season. They're born-again Bronies. Bronies who have been reformed and sought the forgiveness of Celestia. Hence the tie in with the forgiveness theme. -

What character is a stereotype?
Roughshod replied to cider float's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
@@Dark Qiviut, I was considering whether or not to reply to you again since I'd already stated all my points. But I figured I'd make some simple clarifications. You seem to think that by replacing the term shyness with the more charged one of social anxiety somehow gives your point more credence. Sorry, but I'm not convinced. You think using an emotional appeal makes a difference? There's a c;ear bias I am sensing here when it comes to the topic of anxiety, but it's not sufficient to change the hard facts or warp the events into your own narrative. Every example you have used has demonstrated the same old patterns that occur with Fluttershy's character. i referenced TV Tropes with its lists of numerous examples and explanations to help elaborate. But apparently using a reference is not as favorable to you as simply repeating oneself with the same points worded differently. You use a lot of filler and manipulation of the subject at hand in order to convince yourself that you can escape the reality of what Fluttershy is. I believe you're making appeals to emotion, popularity and also viewing this as only black and white. Fluttershy is a stereotype in some ways, not in others. This sums up everything. You don't want to discuss, you want to pontificate and condemn those who don't agree. Well I don't agree, mostly because I think you're wrong but also because of the shallowness of your intentions here. -
sports What sports did you play when you were younger?
Roughshod replied to MysticShine's topic in General Discussion
Soccer, swimming, cycling and karate. -
Not as much as I used to. It's hard meeting people with similar interests as me outside of a forced environment like work or school.

general Any words/terms that the Internet has made you hate?
Roughshod replied to Kyoshi Frost Wolf's topic in General Discussion
SJW Social Justice Warrior The reason I've grown to greatly dislike this term is because it has ceased to have any meaning. I believe that it originally had some merit as criticism of those who would posture as fighting for social justice while really only propping themselves up for social recognition. Now it's become a blanket term for anyone one considers to be too far left of them on an issue and just a means to dismiss them offhand. It's just a lazy tactic like the overuse of 'misogynist' and 'xenohobe'. -
Something along the lines of this. I mean, if I'm in a rush and don't have much time to spare.

I hate when I have nothing better to do than post on a thread about thing I hate. Also, diet soda.

general Does anypony play a a instrument
Roughshod replied to Outragedmaple15's topic in General Discussion
Well I used to play with my food, and you could say utensils are like instruments. -
I do experiment with psychology, just not in a professional setting. Everyone applies aspects of psychology in their life even if they're unaware of it. We all pretty much use analysis, to differing degrees in various areas of our lives. I'm always open to learning new thing about my brain. It helps to know what's going on up there. The major difference(there's a couple) is one of metrics. Neurology is a hard science based on biological theory and concrete data whereas psychology rest more on subjective research and a philosophical element. One problem with psychology is that it can develop a false sense of certainty in the findings it produces depending on what you want to see, both in those involved directly with the studies and those observing the results. Confirmation bias is a serious risk. But nonetheless the field has helped to broaden the way we view the way humans being think and interact with each other and understanding the human condition. What psychology means to me is exploring the vast unknown: the human mind. It's given me an appreciation of the intricacies and idiosyncrasies that encapsulate all that we think and feel, much of which we don't bother to consciously consider. It is a consciousness raiser in much the same way as astronomy or evolutionary biology.

How will MLP:FiM be remembered in 15/20 years time?
Roughshod replied to SteveMorison's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I don't. The whole issue and controversial nature of the Brony fandom has definitely cooled down over the last few years and just become another facet of the internet. Things in he media change too fast now for a cartoon show to have widespread lasting impact on the public consciousness. Particularly for a show like MLP which is still often viewed by most people as not something to be taken seriously. It will fade like everything else does. Keep in mind that there aren't any really objective stances to be found here. It's comforting to think that something you've invested so much of your time and energy into will have a lasting legacy but simply wishing it doesn't make it so. I will remember Friendship is Magic long after it ends but I have no strong reason to believe most of society will. People will move on to the next thing. MLP will still exist as a brand, sure, but the show itself doesn't appear to be breaking precedents like many had hoped it would.
