Such a person would need a variety of skills, talents, marketing, luck and hard work. The best situation would be if they were multi-talented and extremely dedicated to creating and selling their work based on MLP. I'm talking, art comissions, advertised music, fan made merchandise, YouTube analysis and more. All of which done consistently and with high quality enough to make them very popular. With these conditions met I believe a career could be made from MLP independently. But then you have to deal with Hasbro's cronies.

I see two ways that the Elements of Harmony could pass on to others. The first is new ponies coming after the Mane 6 discovering them and using them to save Equestria in the future, maybe in Gen 5 or something. The second is a possible villain(s) stealing them from the Tree of Harmony and using their magic against Equestria. As for current side characters in the show taking on the elements... That's not going to happen. It just isn't. Not within the current series anyway. It's purely fan fiction territory.

You had my attention until you said 'alicorn'. But as for her betraying the Mane 6 it would immortalize her as one of the greatest villains in my view. Even if it was done poorly just the idea of such a wicked trick is impressive in its mean spirited nature. Such a turn would most likely land her in Tartarus or just destroyed.

Celestia might be stronger because she's older. Then again Luna may have more stamina since she's younger. They have different styles of using their magic so depending on the style of matchup it could vary. I'd still be rooting for Luna though.

I've ripped on him from time to time as a joke but I do respect his contributions to the show and his writing ability. Things are not looking good so far this season.

Twilight Sparkle, Princess Luna and Lyra Heartstrings. In terms of both personality and appearance I prefer these ponies over others. But I still like the others... For the most part.

@@Buck Testa 'Arabus the wind demon' or something to that effect. Originally he fed on the shadows of ponies. But a rebooted version of him/it could also just absorb the air (Air-abus)of ponies, taking their voices in the process and leaving silence in its wake. If and when it made noise it might just sound like a cacophony of pony voices in screams or shouts. Actually a howling wind or thunderous rumbling could be just as intimidating. Not sure why Zeb(whose full name I like to imagine as Zebuchadnezzar) would summon him unless to simply demonstrate his power or possibly attempt some well intended but misguided mission of protecting the Zebra territory. It's an idea that could very well serve as a story arc considering the villain potential here. But to relate this to Flutterbrother... I don't know, maybe he could be tracking Zeb and trying to stop him from carrying it out. This would have to be after his premiere obviously since there's no way you could fit all this headcanon into one episode while still introducing all these new characters without any precedent. Still interesting. It's funny how we talk more about Grogar and Arabus than flutterbrother. Even before seeing him I can almost guarantee I would trade his appearance for either of the other two. There's just so much potential. Edit: Just some grammatical fixes.

Grogar, like Tirek, is already pretty threatening in his appearance which also has the benefits of being simultaneously simplistic and distinctive. Aside from some flash based polishing and streamlining there isn't much that needs to be fixed. Especially since too much change could reduce his nostalgia factor. Arabus is just a cloud so he'd need something done to look more threatening and his mannerisms would need to be improved from just saying 'Golly good show!'. As for Zeb, his whole hollywood manager look would best be scrapped. I think something along the lines of a shaman or warlock could work. If Flutterbrother was as menacing as any of these guys it would be comically absurd. He'd have to be some sort of pony Lex Luthor to pull that off which would be all the funnier when compared to his sister.

It's believable. One good example of such a character is Azula from Avatar. She bullied her older brother Zuko and was able to manipulate him through sheer cunning and malice. If I had to predict Flutterbrother's reasons and modus operandi as a villain... I would say it stems from a disdain for his sister's lack of flying skill and his willingness to take advantage of her compassionate nature and torment her social weaknesses(sounds like a nice guy right?). The fact that she spends most of her time on the ground and has helped in saving Equestria numerous time might also contribute to his bitterness and jealousy. He could also have a bad history with Rainbow Dash as a bonus that leads to conflict between the three. That or he might just be a regular jerk.

Because they're friends and friends do stuff together. That's the root of it really.

True, when I spoke of assholes being interesting I was thinking of great villains like Darth Vader and Tywin Lannister(not realistically applicable to MLP but great nonetheless). If Flutterbrother is a rehashed Gilda I will be very disappointed. I'd like to think the writing has improved a little since season 1, especially where a main character's sibling is concerned. If he can be shown as an antagonist with some genuinely decent back story while also posing a real treat that could be cool in my opinion. I personally want to see Arabus and Zeb, but a good version of them not the ones from Gen 1 that were lame. Two reasons: First, we've never seen an elemental sort of villain like him and 2) his assistant Zeb would finally show another zebra in the show. Possibly shed some light on Zecora's past as well. But it's a long shot I'll admit.
