Edit: I seriously spend like, 1 or 2 and a half hours typing this all. Wow. Never really cared it. I'm neatural to it personally but also dislike it. Megan McCathy said in a interview that she HATES Sparity and Dislestia so I highly doubt both of them will ever become cannon. Spike orginially feel heads over heels with Rarity mainly for her psychical appearance. He's pretty much marveling at her looks in the very first episode (Rarity is the prettiest of the Mane Six though you gotta admit with the prettiest character design!) Sure, Spike has matured a bit in Inspirtion Masfesion (or however you spell it), Simple Ways, and especially Secret To My Excess. And we kinda see some development between the two. With Spike comforting her and seeing a bit of Rarity's personality and inner beauty but the shipping and Spike's affections towards Rarity are mostly based upon the outer beauty of Rarity and Spike constantly admires Rarity's looks rather than admire more for her personality. And Rarity's appearance is the orgin of the crush. We do see Spike and Rarity bonding sharing tender moments with each other and Spike really has matured in season 4 a bit. Especially in Inspirtion Masfesion and Simple Ways. He isn't whiny or depressd with heartbreak in the slightest over Rarity fangirling over Trender Poop Hoof. And he comforts Spike and almost companions her in the episode. I was pretty surprised by Spike's maturity in that scene actually. Also in Inspirtion Masfesion with Spike comforting Rarity acting even more maturely. We also see Spike struggle with a inner conflict in himself to tell Rarity the truth of his opinion on Rarity's actions. Good development I suppose. And Secret To My Excess was good too. Spike is willingly giving away a birthday gift for himself for the pony that took his heart (pun not intended) and is happy that Rarity is happy. Which matters most to him.is her happiness due to his little puppy crush. And the ending of course remembering that moment between him, Rarity, and that kiss. All in all, the shipping has some good development and pontenial. Except Megan's hatred of course. But a lot of people tend to complain Rarity taking the heart gem was Rarity taking advantage of Spike's generousity which it does somewhat feels like (and this is coming from a Rarity fan!) With other episodes people feel she takes advantages from him. I kinda disagree in a few ways. Why would Rarity do that anyways? She seems somehow unaware of his affections and attraction to her. So can't see how and if she found out about the crush, she'd most likely be both slightly flattered and a bit in shock at the same time. As for other Spike ships... 2) SpikeBelle: Not all SpikeBelle shippers agree on the whole "Go for the sister dude!" trope. Take me a for example: I DOWNRIGHT BLOODY DESPISE that cliche' in SpikeBelle fanwork. As for AppleSpike, (I prefer SpikeJack so it's not mixed with good old Applebloom. ) like I said, they have some good and decent moments of interaction in a few episodes here and there at times. You can even imagine them off-screen. A good moment between them I can recall is in the ending and aftermath of the Ticket Master. I somewhat agree on the other ships being crack-shippings. Some of the other Spike X Mane Six however have good moments of bonding. Except the show's focus is on Sparity. However, it's like the phrase; "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". In this case it's "Shipping Chemstrity and Moments are in the eye of the beholder" or something like that. We can use our imaginations and potray the ships anyway we wish to. And a lot of fanworks like fan-fiction as key examples could make almost any shipping work. And like said, Spike has great moments between the other Mane Six besides Rarity like Twilight for example. Though I agree we could clasify and consider them as crack-ships. 1) Spikebelle: Cute idea. Sadly only interaction is that moment in a Canterlot Wedding. Plus, I like to point out it's tradionial for a ring boy to dance with a flower girl. Then again it's interesting they use Sweetie Belle, Rarity's own little sister, instead of Applebloom and Scootaloo. (I despise SpikeBloom anyways so eh ) Not to mention they both have similar personalitles. Both can be kinda dorky or goofy at times, can mess things up and annoy everypony around them (Spike can quite annoy Twilight and we see Sweetie constantly get on Rarity's nerves though they later get cool with it), both are thought to be less than everyone else as Sweetie is looked down upon with the other Crusaders for being a blank-flank and a complete dorky goof who can mess up easily which can describe Spike as he tries to prove everyone around him wrong that he's better than their expectations. Which Sweetie Belle constantly tries to do mostly for getting her Cutie Mark and using everypony she's great with theater work in For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils. The words taken right out of my horse mouth. (Pun not intended, once again.) The shipping is more potrayed with Sweetie as the one hitting on Spike while Spike is busy marveling and daydreaming of impossible adventures of saving his fair lady princess Rarity. Rather unfortunate for those who do use the other potrayal of "Can't get the hot/cute girl? Go for the sister!" I want to rip that apart so badly. And very unlikely. Spike would most likely if rejected go depressed for a bit and eat a lot of ice cream like he did in one episode when he felt sad or depressed. Can't quite recall. Or sleep in bed all day. Then later schemeing up a plan to win Rarity's affections over like Senpai Notice Me or something. Sweetie developing some kind of crush on Spike would be more likely and fit more perfectly in the show rather than Spike noticing Sweetie Belle first. --------------------------------------------- Done with SpikeBelle. As for my opinion on a certain apple and dragon: 2) SpikeJack: Not bad. Like I've mentioned before: we see some moments between them in the series. In the Ticket Master we see him at the end all giddy over his ticket so Applejack all smug-like and acting like They actually have good interaction. Especially the ending of Spike At Your Service. Despite being a bad episode, there are a few moments like when Applejack just saved Spike from the timberwolves and at the end which was good interaction and bonding. They also seem to have other moments in other episodes we don't really notice that could be off-screen too. Not to mention the little blushing moment between them in Spike At Your Service near the end.

A lot of young people, even small children may develop a crush or something. Age doesn't mean anything. A lot of people end up dating or falling in love with someone at least 1 or 2 years older than them. A lot of girls prefer older guys mainly for maturity from what I've seen and my old Science teacher said this when all the boys in class were acting immatrurely. Your age doesn't really determined your crushes or attractions or whatever. Besides, a lot of it goes on with our brains. Our brains sometimes may think of it like a sire or whatever. Not going into full detail on that and all that other Science stuff unless anyone wants me to. And Spike mainly seemed to develop a crush on Rarity for her beauty at first and how he marvels at her wonderful appearance. In Secret To My Excess and other future episodes, we see Spike and Rarity have some moments and Rarity treat Spike with some kindness and greatfulness but Spike orginingally fell in love with her appearance. Orgininally. I'm not going to go into detail on Spike's age since everyone else is already explaining that and I wouldn't need to explain since what @Snake and all the others above me said. Instead of ages I'm mostly sticking to topic of why Spike would crush on Rarity despite being younger than her. Besides, to use myself as a example, my first crush was from when I was 12 years old on Hiro Hamanda from Disney's Big Hero who I still like mainly because I relate to him but I won't go into full detail on that since that would be offtopic unless asked.

The EQG movies were I suppose and I quite enjoyed them, the second one Rainbow Rocks especially, but consider me pump for this movie! It's interesting to see them actually do a movie in the Equestiran universe with all the ponies and all the other creatures of Equestira instead of us traveling back and fourth between the two worlds with both the humans and ponies.

In some mythology about dragons, dragons have sub species and not all of them have wings. Kind of like the "Water Dragon" with no wings from Courage the Cowardly Dog for example. (Though that dragon reminded me of the Loch Ness Monster when I was a little girl. ) Possibly like what some say is that Twilight's magic could have altered or affected Spike's psychical appearance when he was hatched. We can't really explain Twilight's raw magical abliltes and what she can do. It was mentioned about Spike being halfpony in "Dragon Quest" though we never really go into much detail on that in the episode. The teenage dragons did think Spike was like a pony and teased him as one. Mainly how Spike is so used and adapted to living around ponies in Ponyville and all, and stated by Lauren Faust a long time ago that Celestia is the one who rasied Spike so she could have rasied Spike the way he is and how his behavior is like around his enviorment around ponies, his opposing species. (I think that's good to add to @Buck Testa's interestingly brillant theory/idea.) Or, like what my friend @Kyoshi said, Spike could still be in his early dragon ages since dragons are said to age slower. From what I learned in fifth grade when all the girls and I from our class in our grade had to watch a video about a certain something about girls, animals go through puberty. Possibly something similar to puberty (because a show like MLP:FIM would never talk of such a topic), could apply to all the ponies and other creatures including dragons or something young dragons soon reach when they're a tad bit older and when Spike might grow up soon in the series like this? Maybe then like in puberty when you're developing into a adult, Spike could grow adult dragon wings or develop other more dragon quailites? Kind of a stupid idea for a headcannon, but it's possible like in Secret To My Excess when Spike was all greedy-like and growing, something similar could happen to dragons when developing like with puberty. I don't know much of what goes on with males with puberty however being female and starting to go through puberty right now myself so I'm sorry for that. Also, in both The Cutie Mark Chronicles and in Secret To My Excess, adult Spike doesn't have any wings, now that I think more of the episodes. He could have been aging unnaturally which made of caused that possibly. Also, to add on to my idea with dragons and their developing stages like puberty, maybe developing and young dragons exposed to greed go through what Spike did and that's normal and what happened since they're not fully dveloped or mature yet? So they can't make good decisions or think straightfoward. Since our human brains aren't fully developed until we're 25. So often until then we make poor decisions since our maturity isn't complete with our brains and same could happen to ponies and dragons or other species in Equestira. Ponies in real life and horses have a 20 year lifespan but the show seems to use human ages and for the fact Rainbow Dash had 23 candles on her birthday cake in Pinkie Pride and how Spike being a dragon could age slower than ponies so he's more likely to slower develop his brain. Since as kids and teenagers we can't make right judgements like our brains with greed and other such things or minds need to worry about so we're likely to be greedy and such like with Spike except he's a dragon so something happens to dragons when exposed with too much greed and they act rapidly unnaturally and prematurely. Like hormones maybe in a few ways since they change our behavior like mood swings a few times here and there? All of this is so compliacted. I would have to be like Game Theory to fully develop this theory/headcannon idea itself all by myself.

I've been in the fandom since I was 11 years old which is considered too young for a Pegasister though I'm 13 now. So my parents didn't think it was weird since I was a 11 year old girl which is considered part of the target audience I suppose. Now as a 13 year old they still don't care and don't even what anything about fandoms and whatever. They even think it's cool. They've even seen my shipping fanart for some of my MLP ships and wanted to frame them believe it or not, even my Mane 6 X Mane 6 O.O (Well, my Mane 6 X Mane 6 looked like friendshipping and just them hanging out but I did have a RariDash picture of Rarity annoyed and blushing at Rainbow Dash smirking at her but they didn't notice at all that picture and I made that picture on my 12th birthday when I started shipping pony Yuri which is the only Yuri I seem to ship.) They treat how much I like the show same way as I was 11. Guess it's because not only am I a Pegasister but also because it was when I was younger and that I grew up and still like it isn't much of a difference and that 13 is only a year older than 12 when you're finally becoming teenager? They also may not care because my little 2nd grade sister who's 8 right now likes the show too and would be consider part of the target audience (she happens to know about the fandom and the show and ships all the same shippings as me. Also, she sadly found out about clop on her own like I did when I was 11.) My parents seem kinda excited that I watch the show actually like in @Pinkie-Guy's case. Except my dad jokes about how both Rarity and Pinkie Pie are my favorite characters and his other jokes of the show and my other fandoms are super annoying at times. :/ My mom seems to like Twilight. For my 12 birthday, I even got a Build-a-Bear workshop Rainbow Dash and my sister got Pinkie Pie even at Downtown Disney from where we live.

There's no rules or anything saying it's only Bronies and why should gender matter? I'm a Pegasister/female brony and I feel more than welcomed. MLPForums is like a second home for me. Bronies of any gender are welcomed! Though I understand why you'd think that, most people only think of male/boy fans especially if you're a non-brony and rarely acknowledge female/girl Bronies or Pegasisters at all but some people consider it unisex and gender-neatural so you need not to worry!

Personally I have mixed feelings over Rainbow Dash. Sometimes she may jump around on my favorite Mane 6 in order list like crazy as well as Applejack jumps on my list. But all in all, it does irk me that Rainbow Dash is the most familiar pony of the Mane 6 and almost every non-brony or new brony are most familiar with her. There are surveys and a survey here on MLPForums for your FIRST favorite Mane Six and Rainbow Dash always has the most votes from all the surveys I've seen and the most recognizable pony for every non-MLP fan. Almost anyone who isn't a Pegasister/female or girl Brony or Brony will right away think of Dash or whatever. It kinda annoys me how she represents us like this for us. I guess it's because of her being a tomboy and guys liking that and her being a rebellious character who's all "cool" and "all that". But I quite like Dash in a lot of ways. Sure, her arrogance is quite the highlight of her character for anyone who doesn't like her to notice. And though Rainbow Dash's arrogance can get out-of-hand at times to the point it's obnoxious, Rainbow Dash can be mature at times. She's also there for her friends and helps them out at the very least like the other Mane 6. And though Dash may go on serious ego trips here and there, she eventually remember what's most important and a time or place or everything. Also, saying Rainbow Dash being a attention-seeker, it's natural for people and their emotions to seek attention and we need it to survive even at times and sometimes if you have a strong ego spark and don't receive any attention, you may need some attention here and there. I'd go more into detail on good highlights and features of her or point out on things people say about her, but this video does it well for me and is the video that gave me mixed feelings on her as well as looking at her at a different way: It's very true how almost every Amercian cartoon has at least 1 female character who may be a tomboy. That cliche' even started way back with Buttercup from the Powerpuff Girls! And almost every girl show has at least one or almost every book for girls has the main character as a tomboy who dyes their hair an unnatural color who wears hoodies and dresses all gothic or emo-like. Is it sin to be a girl and like pink nowadays? I swear girly girls in real life nowadays are becoming extinct while tomboys act like special snowflakes nowaday, not to be rude to any tomboys. I'm half tomboyish myself and hate dresses and makeup and all that but I'm just saying.
