Twilight Sparkle is the princess of friendship, Mayor Mare is the mayor of Ponyville. Friendship is a concept, whereas Ponyville is a geographic location. Twilight isn't the princess of Ponyville, she merely resides there because that's where her friends live, and because that's where she learned about friendship. But wait,you say. What about Cadence? She's the princess of love, that's a concept. And is the ruler of the Crystal Empire which is a geographic location. True, but the Crystal Empire is "powered by love and light" so Cadence is like the utility company. So Cadence is the ruler of a geographic location AND the princess of a conceptual idea like love because the geographic location is powered by the concept of love. Princess Twilight isn't the ruler of Ponyville (or any other geographic location for that matter) because, while still important, Ponyville isn't powered by friendship.

She will go about spreading the magic of friendship in Griffonsrone by making delicious baked goods! I know Pinkie is kinda random, and it's sometimes hard to follow her logic. But here's how it worked (... at least this time) it goes like "Hi, I'm Pinkie Pie. And I threw this Party just for you!" Balloons, party cannon, confetti, etc. It's her standard go to, and for good reason, that usually works. If, for some reason, that dose'nt work, her contingency plan is a song ( likely the smile song). And if that dose'nt work, or as the case may be, against the law. Then the nuclear option of delicious baked goods is unleashed. Then when she wears you down balloons come into play, next thing you know it's a full blown party! Next is friendship, which of course is magic. Then your all in it, you give a smile, you get a smile... Soon all of Griffonstone is infected, like a zombie plague, with the magic of friendship. That's why Pinkie Pie is a genius! (Yeah,she hears that a lot)

So at the end of "Rainbow Rocks" Sunny writes in the inter dimensional journal, that used to be Princess Celestia's,until she gave it to Twilight, a friendship report that starts "Dear Princess Twilight...". I belive that they coraspond on a regular basis, it's just not seen on rheshow. When they show either the mirror portal or Twi corresponding in/with the journal (even if it's just shown in the background) that would be enough foreshadowing for me to know they plan on bringing Sunset Shimmer back home (and the the TV show).

When Twilight was giving the history lesson on the griffons she described them as being greedy. This was before the period of prosperity and eventual downfall. My first thought association was " oh, like the Ferangi from Star Trek". But yes, in their current situation it does seem motivated by desperation. I could expand on these thoughts, ...but it will cost you.

Amy Keating Rogers delivers another winner! No other writer delivers the depth and overall quality of episodes like her, she will be missed. Of course I have the same universal love for what has already been posted ie; nerdy Twi, Dashs Twi impersonating, adorable flashback Gilda, world building,etc. But yeah, Pinkie. I really liked that she basically continued what she started in "griffon the brush off" when she threw the party for Gilda. Pinkie Pie: "I threw this party to improve your attitude, and turn that frown upsidedown" only now the stakes are much higher. I thought it was going to be another "a friend indeed" in fact we all know she was about to bust out the smile song before learning that singing is forbidden. And in a way it was, in that Pinkies tenacity, while less obnoxious than with Cranky Donkey, finally pays off. I know it's been said before, but Pinkie Pie, you're a genius! (...she gets that a lot). At first I was confused that Twilight wasn't sent too, ( I loved that we got to learn more about how the map works. That it can call specific ponies, and not the whole group. I feel more confident that we will see more about it throughout the season, and not just a device for the premiere and finale) but as the episode unfolded, it became clear why it was just Dash and Pinkie that were called. Pinkies optimistic enthusiasm, and a Dash of Loyalty is exactly what was needed to start turning the misfortunes of the Griffon Kingdom back towards prosperity. Never underestimate the power of the magic of friendship! I'd also like to think that this episode will put a cork in those that think Twilight is OP or a Mary Sue. Conflict resolved with the magic of friendship, no princess needed. My only problem with this episode is that now I'm going to have to rearrange a whole shelf of blind bag ponies to put Gilda Griffon ( glitter edition!) On the from row. That's going to take up my afternoon, in the words of Rainbow Dash "thanks a lot map" (s5ep1)

Oh, awesome! I've been thinking about that. I have a theory about the pegasi based on what I've observed in the show. There are no pegasi siblings. Most pegasi are only foals. This implies that pegasi breeding, frequently ends in either the death of the mother or the foal. This leaves lots of single stallions raising foals. The Pegasi are pretty much the "blue collar" class of ponies. So the single parent has to work to put hay in the trough.So they send their foals to "flight camp" or junior speedsters or whatever. So if you happen to have a Rainbow Dash type of personality, if you go missing ponys might notice and ask where that,loud, obnoxious, awesome pony went? Fluttershy, on the other hoof. Was so quiet and meek that nopony even noticed she was gone. Not even Dash, who only moments earlier, was racing to defend her honor, (granted she was totally pumped up after performing a sonic rainboom and winning! And about how awesome she is!!) Didn't even ask " hey, wasn't there some yellow filly with pink hair here? WTF, where did she go?". So yeah, Fluttershy just disappeared from her home town, and nopony even noticed or cared to even investigate where she went. Not even her parent(s). ...or they always had a really close and loving relationship ( that we never saw on screen) until he was just recently killed in an unexplainable, deadly disaster that happened at the Cloudsdale snow factory a few weeks ago.

I've always kinda thought that the elements were sort of a metaphor, like if you have a friend (and are yourself a friend) that is loyal, generous, honest, kind, and invokes laughter then that friendship is magic. With that said, keep in mind that the mane six have only used the physical elements twice. So the cool necklaces with the jewels haven't really been that important since "the return of harmony" (and maybe in "keep calm and flutter on" when they used them to threaten Discord) The physical manifestion of the elements were important to the tree of harmony in protecting Equestria. But I think what we're supposed to take away from them giving the jewlery back to the tree (and in essence all the "key" episodes of season four) is that they don't need the jewlery because the real elements of harmony are inside easy of them. Each of the mane six are literary the element that they are associated with. Like they say in the song "let the rainbow remind you" "when we come together/combine the light that shines within, there's nothing we can't do/ there's no battle we can't win. When we come together/ there will be a star to guide the way. it's in us everyday..."

First of all it wasn't my claim. I was just going by something I read in an interview. My bad if I explained it poorly. Let me try again. It wasn't about not wanting to mix pony world and EG world, they clearly did that in both movies. And yes, the portal on demand mirror device is in Twilights castle and that will be how Sunny will eventually return to Equestria where she belongs. The interview I was referencing, I believe it was Meghan, had said that the events from the movie (this was from before Rainbow Rocks) would have no relevance to the events on the TV show. ( like the comics as well). The main reason I even remember this is when Flash Sentry made that cameo in season four everybody brought that up and called her a liar. My guess is that may have been the original intent, but things can change. I think all of us participating in this thread hope that they do realise what a great character Sunset is, and do decide to bring her home and feature her on the show. I do feel the staff at DHX has the skills to pull this off. It's my opinion (hope) that it would take a two part episode to do it with the depth it deserves. Like in part one she is reintroduced ( for anyone that hasn't seen the movies) and explain why she's back in Equestria. And in part two conflict resolution, and establishing her role as a recurring character.

Nope, she wasn't just being a goody four hooves and dialing it in to "always be doing the right thing". It was genuine,legit forgiveness. If you remember, the other five got their objects that became the keys by owning their element and living up to it to help another pony become better, even though it wasn't easy for them. It wasn't easy for Twilight to call Discord a friend after his betrayal, but she did, and that is what made the trinket of gratitude she received from him become the final key. ( totally worth mentioning, it was Discords hilighting the enteries in the journal of friendship that led to the revelation that the trinkets were the keys. Twi even said "I hate to admit it, but I think Discord was being a good friend") And that is why Twilight Sparkle is the Princess of Friendship. And just to keep this on topic. Twilight was pretty polite in taking Discord aside and telling him to keep Smooze in check, instead of just jumping all in his face and yelling at him. And like wise Discord did try to keep Smooze in check by putting him outside or in the closet. Granted, he only bought Smooze to make Fluttershy jealous, and when that didn't work he didn't have much use for it anyway. But that's just how the lord of chaos rolls, what are you gonna do. I do think that the Princess of Friendship could have stepped it up to both her friends by telling Fluttershy that her totally ignoring her friend Discord was a bitch move, and that just because you're there with another friend dose'nt mean you have to dis you other friends. And she could have explained to Discord that just because Fluttershy had other friends didn't mean she wasn't still his friend. ...But I guess Twi was busy with other gala related responsibilities, and just let them work it out on their own.

I think that the biggest issue that they would have in bringing Sunset into the fim show is that I've read that they want to keep EQG as an extension of fim and not where you have to see the movie to know what's going on in the show. So to incorporate her into the show they'd pretty much have to reintroduce her. Not that I think the writers couldn't do that effectively, it would just take a full episode to explain to an audience who has never seen the movies (and what a great episode that would be!) Unless Twi just sumerizes everything that took place in two movies in a two minute speech. Sunny is so beautifully designed, and such a good character it's almost a crime that we only get to see her once a year. I could see her as a frequently recurring character, kind of like Zecora. Plus her being a pony would mean more merch. Pay attention Hasbro, there's lines of fans trying to give you money for Sunset Shimmer merch. Make it happen.

Twilight absolutely forgave Discord. Remember when Tirek agreed to release Twilights friends in exchange for all the alicorn magic and he released the remane five (and Spike) ,but she wouldn't give it up until he released ALL her friends,meaning Discord who was still in the bubble. Tirek even said "you still call him a friend after he betrayed you?” and Twi said " release him!" If Twilight hadn't done that she would have never gotten the sixth key to unlock the rainbow power box. Then later when they all enter the castle for the first time, Twilight says it wasn't her alone that defeated Tirek and that she couldn't have done it without her friends (directed at the remane five) who were all sitting/standing around her. Then she uses her magic to levitate Discord into the circle and says "all my friends" and they group hug. AJ and Dash may still be cautiously suspicious of him, but I'm pretty sure he has been forgiven, and is considered a friend, just not on the same level of having Tuesday tea parties with him as Fluttershy.

Dash is pretty independent, I could see her becoming whatever age ponies are when they're no longer considered minors and moving out on her own. Maybe Fluttershy had a birthday party for her in Ponyville and she decided to stay.

Did you see that "table" she built in "Stare master” or the stage set from " show stoppers”? Not so sure carpentry is her thing. However, in "Bridal gossip" not only was she the first to not be afraid of and befriend Zecora, she helped her make the potion that cured the poison joke. Not that the episodes are in any cronoLOGICal orded, but " bridal gossip" did air before the other two. Also, in modern agriculture, potion making (chemistry) is probably as important ( if not more so) than carpentry skills. See Monsanto. It's mainstream enough to have been in a super bowl commercial. However, when i saw Rainbow Rocks at the theater, there wa no adevrtising in the newspaper, the marque at the theater did'nt want anyone to know it was playing there, and no posters inside. As far as merch in tha hood... it's usually older, outdated, low end merch. I can sometimes still find blindbag series from a year ago at Family Dollar & dollar gen. And yes, it moves quick. Whenever they put out pony merch, it's picked over quickly, and soon after gone.

Guess I just got lucky. I'm so happy that they finally came out with these.Most of The Equestria Girls merch they sell in stores is just so bad. But I like the movies (even the first one) and these aren't that bad. Is there a list of which ponys and "humans" they have? Is there a Sunset Shimmer?

Yesterday my niece ran up to show me the pony Twilight Sparkle. I recognized that it was the happy meal toy. And was like awesome happy meal pony toys again! So I went today and got a "humane" Twilight.

Ha! I've been having the same issue too. I haven't been able to find any info anywhere online. I get lots of Twilights and Tricked too, plus Discords. So many Discords. All I need is Rairity to finish the collection. I'm thinking about buying her on line (because you know Rairity can be had for a price LOL) the next Twilight I get I'm going to try to mod into a pre- alicorination Twilight by cutting the wings off and sanding.
