Each person's perception of you is just another mask projected onto your mind.

I heard this idea once referred to from the perspective of death: for every person you know who dies there are two parts of you that die with them - your version of them that you perceive and their version of you that they project. Part of you is held not within your mind but within the relationships you form with those around you. I find it a very thought-provoking concept. 

it sounds kinda awesome and freeing to have a million selves, no matter what you do there's a version of you that hasn't done it and has gone and done something else in someone's mind, maybe i'm an astronaut in one of those versions, a beggar in another and a cyborg in yet another one, some of them might even be close to who i actually am, but then again who's to say not all of them are true in a way, at least to those people who think them to be
