    movies/tv Over-rated movies

My very subjective opinion: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - is it supposed to be a comedy? I didn't even smiled during the whole movie. Maybe I just had to be on something to get it. The Dark Knight - boring as hell. Couldn't get through it. But I must be biased here, as I don't like superhero movies. Back to the Future - a mediocre movie that gives everyone nostalgia for some reason. It has good moments, but it's far from being a masterpiece.
  2. MLP sure does have a lot of cool references, and we already expect each new episode to have some bits of classic or pop culture hidden somewhere. But one still can find many surprising allusions that you hardly expect to see in such a show. Post them here! So, for me some of those are: Pulp Fiction reference – definitely didn’t expect to see it in MLP: The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reference – a really nice one, I thought everybody forgot about that show: Grumpy Cat reference – right out of the blue. Probably, the animators thought “why the hell not?”
  3. Yeah, that would explain why he is turned to stone. I wonder who did it and how. My bet is on alicorn Trixie and other mirror elements of harmony (?).
  4. Thanks for reminding me! Although it's not very mirror-ish in my opinion, as he became Chaotic Good in the original universe. At least, when it comes to saving Fluttershy, I mean.
  5. I’m terrified to think what the mirror CMCs would do to ponies. Would they steal cutie marks like Starlight did? And mirror Discord would be interesting too. Or would his name be Order in the mirror universe?
  6. It depends on the person and the intention. If I wanted a non-brony to get hooked, I’d try to persuade them to watch a least a few first episodes (4 or 5 minimum) – that’s how I became a fan of MLP, so it may work. If I wanted just to watch something for fun with a non-brony, I’d pick Green Isn't Your Color, Saddle Row Review or one of Pinkie Pie-centered episodes.
  7. I haven’t finished too many games to list them all. Beginning with the classic Super Mario. Among the recent ones: GTA V (damn flight camp), Shadow of Mordor (98%, but none of the add-ons), King’s Bounty Dark Side (why did I even started?). Recently I decided to play the good old Fallout 3, and I think it will be the next addition to the list.
  8. Season 5 is my favorite. It has so many top quality episodes and interesting characters, including my favorite episode and my favorite character. And the finale really exceeded my expectations.
  9. South Park, Adventure Time and Doctor Who are my favorites, although I don't watch them on TV, because commercials are annoying and they are shown dubbed and censored where I live.
  10. It may depend on the reception of the movie. If it is successful, they could want to make more season to create a background for the sequel. Also, if the merch sells well, there is a solid chance that we’ll have new seasons. But I think there will no more than 8 or 9. Really, there isn’t that much room for main characters development. Unless they all are turned into alicorns.
  11. That’s an easy one. Starlight, of course. She already had so many good episodes. And was a much better villain, IMO. Also, I like her lack of social skills and the fact that she still isn’t fully reformed. Sunset, on the other hand… her story hasn’t grown on me. It’s the no-hooves factor, I guess.
  12. King Sombra? I reckon you haven't read the comics. But they are only semi-canon, so it doesn't matter, and Sombra is probably dead. And what about this guy? We saw him falling and then we saw his skull.
  13. Well, they didn't show the body, so anything could be in that jar. And death and cremation are a little bit too dark for a kids' show. But that's only guessing. Someone should ask Larson one day.
  14. He did. In a jar. In The Big Lebowski movie Donny's ashes were put in a similar jar. But I'm sure that if we ask the show staff directly, they'll deny that Donny Pony is dead.
  15. Her name is Candy Mane, according to MLP Wiki, and the last time she appeared was season 5. I doubt that she died. The only pony who supposedly died during the course of MLP seasons was Donny.
  16. That's what I'm talking about. Also, I'd be cool to see an air battle with lightning bolts, tornadoes, high-speed chases and the Wonderbolts team work. I know I'm probably asking for too much, but the show already had action scenes, so they could meke something like this as well.
  17. They are big jerks, that's for sure. And for some reason I want to see them team up. But do you think any of them could have really bad intentions and big plans equal to an average "bad guy for a two-parter"?
  18. She didn't do that on purpose, as far as I remember. Similarly, what Ranbow Dash did to the weather factory put ponies in danger, but that's not a reason to call her a villain.
  19. It came to me that MLP does not have a proper Pegasus villain. Main bad guys are usually non-pony creatures or unicorns. We also had a great alicorn villain and a bunch of really flawed earth ponies - Svengallop, Suri Polomare, Dr. Caballeron and his henchponies (all of them are earth ponies) and even Mane-iac. All "bad" pegasi we have are Lightning Dust and Wind Rider (I cannot call them proper villains), the three bullies from the flight camp (also not villains) and the Shadowbolts (not sure if they were ever real). So, do you think the pegasi cannot make badass villains? Or do we still have a chance to see one of those?
  20. Is Ebola a weird name for a cat? Well then...
  21. If we define an innuendo as a suggestive hint, then the 6th season had as few of those. This pony’s cutiemark: Zephyr Breeze's tissues (people saw an implication of… well, autoeroticism) RD’s “Did you see Big Mac's sword?” And the hugging pillow – it’s not even a hint here:
  22. Telekinesis would be fun. Flying is too dangerous – definitely not for me. Weather control is interesting, though. What are earth ponies’ powers exactly? I remember reading a fanfic listing the possibilities: 1. Enhanced physical strength – not as cool as telekinesis 2. Botanurgy – accelerated plant growth – I don’t need that 3. Lithurgy – growing crystals or smashing rocks – don’t need that either 4. Capillurgy – “working with hair,” grasping with tail and mane – my hair is not that long 5. Increased life span – that may be cool, but not always. So, I’d choose the unicorn powers, I think.
  23. So what are your favorite bg ponies from season 6? I really like Fresh Coat And this guy
  24. I'd like to see the adventures of Steven Magnet and Cranky. At least a flashback of those. It would be nice if a donkey saved the day for a change.
