  1. I really like this idea of Golden Oak Library being goverment own and not open for public before Twilight arrives. At least for sake of some fun speculations. For normal public library you would expect cookbooks and Daring Do novels, but Golden Oak holds also rather powerful and potentially dangerous spellbooks. In season 3 episode "Too many Pinkie Pies" Spike finds a secret locker and book containing spell to repel Pinkie-duplicates back to Mirror Pond. In Equestria talented young unicorns are send directly to Princess Celestia's school to learn more about magic. Magic is considered so important that it takes a princess to teach and oversee pupils. It also takes serious work and years of studying under proper guidance to master advanced spells. On her own Starlight ended to misuse her talents with serious consequences. Trixie failed to cast simple teleport spell and Twilight's cutie map dissapeared. Wonder what would have happened if Spike would have agreed to her test subject... Magic being potentially lethal, it makes sense that books containing powerful spells are not allowed for just anypony to read and mess with, thus they are storaged in private goverment own librarys. Obviously, Spike finded secred spellbook just because it was convenient for the plot. But it's always fun to overinterpret thins.
  2. I'm little uneasy when it comes to these leaks about G5, being it concept art or email discussions . Of course none of the ideas that have been presented are necessarily going to happen at all. As now they are just general guidelines for writers and artist who keep on brainstorming. Some of these e-mail leaks seemed to have plans to change personality and voice actor of Applejack. Concept art shows unicorn-Fluttershy and Twilight as an earthpony etc. I'm not sure how I feel about possibility of G5 being reboot with old characters with new appereance and personality . It could work, but I kinda feel that they should start fresh with new protagonists. When G4 ends, it shoud end completely.
  3. Premiere/finale movie would be little short of original content and making an entire movie using same assets, characters, places and plottwists would be kinda grindy. As Jeric said above: It's hard to think Hasbro never publishing this kind of movie. However, this could be something that all these talented fans and content creators could be able to pull off.
  4. If Hasbro would have released their first premiere/finale movie in the same timetable than 2017 movie, I would have to argue that they would have been as late as was the case with current movie. G4 is coming to it's lifespans end and fanbase have been reduced year after year. As more time passes, it's constantly harder to keep your franchise interesting and fresh. Show should have had it's first major movie years ago when hypetrain was still going strong, bronies were new and shocking and pony-memes were all around the internet. Clearly Hasbro saw an opportunity to cash in, but what they did? Equestria girls. Once again, your have right to your own opinion of these movies. I personally don't care about them and all I can see is lost possibility. First movie came out 2013, next 2014 and rest three or so 2015-2017 straight to DVD. One more is going to be released this year. Granted, EG aren't Toon Boom. But I can't help wondering the outcome if Hasbro would have sold their barbie-dolls under another tittle and concentrated all that time, money and resources to these pony(tv ?)movies.
  5. I'm disappointed if Hasbro will release next film as a prequel for the next generation. Disappointed not only behalf of all the fans who want one last change to celebrate MLP together, but also behalf of company's owners. This would be their change to drain our pockets dry, squeeze every last drop from nostalgia-hungry bronies. Even though fanbase is not what it used to be, I'm rather sure that when generation 4 is almost ended and they would announce the_one_last_movie, bronies would pour to cinemas to pay theyr respects. If movie would indeed be prequel, there would be high risk that potential new fans wouldn't find it and that old fans wouldn't be interested. If there will be true sequel, I will go watch it as a farewell. Hasbro, take my money and make this happen!
  6. Rolling Stones stated on early 80' that Loudon Wainright III would be next Bob Dylan. Well, that never happened, but great songwriter and performer never the less! He's songs can both destroy and save your day.
  7. According to United Nations report, 70 fishermen die every day. It is world's most dangerous occupation. You have been warned.
  8. You just summarised perfectly my thought. This show have made me laught and well, if not downright cry, at least became emotionally moved countless times. It certainly have shaped me as a person. For once I try to be optimistic and think that G5 will have same effect to younger brony-generations to come.
  9. Disney is one of the oldest mastodons in the film industry, and have just got larger in these reasent years by buing out competion like Lucasfilms. Compairing Hasbro's toy commercial to Disney's movies is not quite fair, considering vast difference in the budjets of these productions. MLP Movie had it's own values and I enjoyed the songs particulary. These are matters of taste
  10. Sure I believe reincarnation is possible, haven't you heard that MLP is going to re-born again? Seriously thought, being born-and-raised-atheist have it's perks, but I'm kinda doomed to count my years rest of my life and wonder when everything ends permanently... But perhaps I'm going to be pleasantly suprised at the end?
  11. I have mixed feelings towards upcoming G5. Show is of course going to end at some point, but I'm not ready to say goodbye, not just yet. G4 still feels fresh and the story have kept it's high standard all these years. Still, I love FiM too much that I would be willing to sacrifice quality over quantity. I have seen enough good shows and relatives being too stubborn to die and trying to linger couple more years, only to fade away. We still have several seasons time, let's make it count!
  12. I find it hard to hate comrade Glimmer. Granted, in her past she did enslave entire village, kidnaped princess and her friends, practically tortured them... damn that's dark for kids show! ...tried to change entire course of history with malicious motives, mindcontrolled her new friends yada yada yada... She have shady past and other ponies should feel some healthy untrust in her precence. After all, she finds herself constantly in situation where she is risk for her surroundings, even after becaming friends with protagonists. I have no doubts that her reform and remorse are real, but other ponies over the top forgiveness is yet sometimes too much and maybe the actual problem here. In season 5 finale they welcome her with song and open hoofs. Not a word is spoken about her past wrongdoings. In season 6 premiere Twilight advices her "not to dwell in the past". Starlight seems to be only one who haven't made peace with her old self and can't move on. In "Every little thing she does" after her mindcontor-misstep Mane Six were once more prehaps little too eager to forgive her than would be realistic or goog for her. Only Pinkie had briefly some normal grudge against her former slavemaster. Whole mess started when Starlight was too anxious because of her friendship lessons. After things eventually wen't downhill, her mentor never scolded her. Not learned her lesson, Starlight later continues executing her bad ideas with good intensions in "A royal problem". Love and trust are cool and whatnot, Twilight, but pupils need also some boundaries. Instead of ever being just plain evil, Starlight is very fragile, insecure and troubled person who have made bunch bad decisions. After Sunburst she had rough youth, it most definitely left some scars. She have enough inner demons to spare, but she haven't been able to encounter them since nopony ever forces her to talk about her past. If you have a problem, it doesn't vanish by itself. I wager that even magical talking ponies need shrinks. Or at least a friend to talk to. So yeah, in a way other characters are enabling her actions. Twilight especially should really step up her game and take part in some pedagogy lessons. (It's not really fair that I had to actually study those things and princesess can just start meddling with students whenever they get their wings.)
  13. Flurry's character development seems overall little rushed, as like writers didn't initially plan to introduce her in this timetable and/or manner if even at all. This seems to be the case also when it comes to her parents. "Why hello Twilight, welcome to your brothers wedding! Uh, you know, Shining Armor? Character that everypony loves and we totally didn't came up just last week (buy our toys!)" After their marriage, baby was of course logical next step and even though I'm rather satisfied the outcome, I can't help wondering what was original concept for these three without Hasbro's meddling. Maybe Flurry was just going to be an ordinary foal, presumably an unicorn? This way story could have concentrated more to her parents. As Alexander said above, she kinda waters down her mother... I assume the reason why she was then made an alicorn is partially because we already had episode 'Baby cakes' in season 2 that is all about nursing infants. They wanted Flurry to stand out in a crowd. But still, replacing unicorn and pegasus with alicorn isn't really a solution. It's just kinda lazy...
  14. Counterfactual history of MLP movie? Now this is something, a change to redeem past sins and start with a clean slate, For many, movie was disappointment, myself included, because it didn't quite feel like it was connected with the tv-show. I doubt that in upcoming season/s ponies will make any references to events or characters presented in the movie. As you said, this probably wasn't the best possible way to handle franchise or try to revive its fanbase. If Hasbro would choose to extend season premieres and finales to full lenght films, they should be highly discreet towards original episodes. After all, we already know what will happen and there is not so much room for new adaptations. If the outcome would differ too conspicuously from original, us lore nerds would presumably start toxic pony-civil war... There's great potential in these kinds of films, but some severe downsides too if not handled appropriately. But still, I would be more than happy to give these movies a fair change!
  15. I recently re-watched both seasons - gods only know how many times I have already seen them - of Disney XD's 'Wander Over Yonder'. Dang, that's great show! When I look back to tv-shows I grew up with, it feels that kids (and also adults who watch cartoons, *ahem*...) these days have much more variety and alternatives to choose from than us back in the day. Also, in recent years a downright quality of cartoons have risen on the whole new level. Just compare current MLP to its 80's counterpart. Getting off topic here... It's a great show, why not giving it a go if you already haven't
  16. As Shooting Star stated, Flurry have been rather important in the past, showing new sides from both her parents and Twilight. I personally find aunt-Twilight adorable in 'A Flurry of Emotions' , were we see her - established and familiar character - from completely new angle. However, I can't see any more ways how Flurry Heart could bring something utterly new to the show without being repetitive. She have played her part as a plot device and comical relief, showed old characters from new viewpoints and satisfied audiences assumed appetite for cute babies - which we had two already, mind you... In order to became new and interesting, Flurry Heart should grow from foal to older filly. This way she could became more active and interact independently. But given that shows current lifespan is coming to end, this seems highly unlikely. I fear that writers will just ignore her until series finale, where ponies probably fight against yet another invincible monster. In the darkest hour, when everything is lost, she will rise like some kind of op pony baby Jesus, kick some tail and save the day. Hopefully not.
  17. Yeah, not gonna lie, I really didn't care much for this episode. I was shipping Big Mac with Cheerilee alongside with most of the fans and this new romance feeled little forced. Both Big Mac and Cheerilee have been introduced well in the past and they obviously have history together, were it romantic or just normal friendship. Both being also important side characters and constantly seen in the show, it would have been rational to ship them, rather than intoduce this poorly executed new love story during one short episode. Even though I'm mighty disappointed this outcome, I wish that Sugar Belle will have more screentime in the future.
  18. I'll definitely give G5 a go, but I fear that it will be 'make or breake' -situation for community. Some will hate it and rest will love it. Hopefully next generation won't start civil war that divides fandom... I'm little nervous and pessimistic how things are going to turn around.
  19. Rather cheerful, actually. Oh well, I guess alcohol seems to have that kind of influence to most people... Sorry kids, grown ups talking.
