Ah, I see. I'm pretty sure Reyjavik is the only place in Iceland that I've actually heard of before. Is your brother moving there too, or is he joining you just for the moving process?

Hah, I bet. It's a place that not a lot of people travel to, but everyone loves to look at. And I've never heard anyone say that exactly, but I guess it could be considered strange. It's a wonderful machine for prototyping, making stuff, and creating useful stuff in general. I'll post a thread when I'm all done and ready to print, and I'll probably take some requests/do some time lapse video. So are you already in Iceland, or are you preparing to move there?

Really?!? That's awesome! You'll have to post pictures of Iceland when you get a chance. Sounds like you've hit the jackpot. As for me, I'm doing fairly well. College is going smoothly (or as smoothly as one can hope for), and I'm just about done building a 3D printer. I'm currently waiting on a replacement part (which I should get this evening), but after that I should be in business

Ooh boy, this will be fun. I present to you: Things that make me angry my nose more frowny than usual: Questions/non-questions/topics that have already been asked 10 times. Believe it or not, people have already asked "Who is best pony?", and yes we all know that it's Fluttershy. Please, use some common sense. The post probably exists already (and anyone who denies the aforementioned fact about Fluttershy is unfortunately wrong, unless they like one of the Royal Princesses in which case we shall forgive them). Blog posts that mean...nothing. I have nothing against blog posts, but every once in a great while I'll find a blog post that makes NO LITERAL SENSE, or is just - I don't know - totally pointless. It's not like the person was even trying to convey feelings about a hard day, or trying to post a funny image, it was...I don't know. I just don't know. Browsing the front page and finding NOTHING WORTH READING. I don't know what law of physics was broken in order to make this work, but it baffles me every time. You hop on your web browser, you punch in the web address, and smile a little at the possibilities ahead. And when that webpage finally loads, we are greeted with a wonderful blend of colors, and many, many tabs of current topics to keep us entertained. But lo and behold...there is literally. Nothing. Worth. Reading. A bajillion recent topics, a preview on every tab that tells what the most recent post was, 5 recent threads, 5 blog posts, and none of it manages to even raise an eyebrow. This is partly because of the THABDB (This Has Already Been Done Before) effect (see first complaint), but I keep hoping someone(s) will come up with some original topics of discussion that veer away from cliches and ask/say something profound/genuinely intriguing. I don't know what that is (and it certainly doesn't have to bend the rules or talk about no-no topics), but maybe someone will be inspired. Disclaimer: I don't really put much thought into what I don't like, but I thought it would be fun to join in anyways.

I enjoy setting an alarm earlier than I need to wake up, just for the satisfaction of being able to say "nah" and fall back asleep again. I love the rain/cold weather. There are probably more, but I can't think of any off the top of my head. One other thing...

movies/tv What Is Your Favorite Doctor Who S8 Episode So Far?
CloudFyre replied to The Taxman's topic in Media Discussion
Listen was a brilliant piece of fiction by any standards. I'd easily rank it within the top twenty Doctor Who episodes, and as the preceding episodes from the season were lacking a little, it made up for all of that in spades. -
What if Twilight Sparkle came and woke you up?
CloudFyre replied to ShintX's topic in Sugarcube Corner
I'm actually torn on this one. Realistically, I used to be an early morning guy, and I'd be done with everything I had to do for the day by 6:30 AM. It takes less than 5 seconds for me to be fully awake and functional (if I so choose), so I'd probably end up having a full conversation with her at some untimely hour. That being said, lately I've been waking up so tired that I could go back to sleep for another 6 hours or so. I swear, I can sleep for 11 hours and STILL BE TIRED afterwards. In light of that, I'd probably wake up, scoot over, give Twi a spot, and promptly fall back asleep next to her. The morning can wait. -
Idea for an MLP spinoff show: Equestria Chronicles
CloudFyre replied to Plonkett's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
A show not restricted to the Mane Six would be fantastic, and would allow for far more creative freedom. The possibilities are nearly endless; even the Changelings are fair game. I'd personally like to see something about a young (early twenty-something) version of Star-Swirl the Bearded before he gets his title. I have no idea what that would entail, but I'm sure the writers could run with it and pull some references from Gandalf/Dumbledore/etc. -
Obduction by Cyan Worlds looks to be (in my opinion) one of the best games released in a long time. With concept art like this (and powered by the Unreal Engine 4), it's hard NOT to look forward to it: Cyan Worlds started with Myst - a game that just dropped you on an island and forced YOU to find out what happened, why you were there, and solve some pretty intriguing puzzles along the way. Myst was the best selling PC game of all time until the Sims took over in 2002. It was definitely a thinking game, and a very difficult one at that. Difficulty aside, the landscapes were fantastic, and though they were fantasy realms, they had a very real element that kept things in check. Over a decade later, Obduction looks to do the same thing: they leave you with only one idea. You have been kidnapped. Find out where, when, why, how, etc. Have some more concept art: Those are only ~half of the concept images that have been released, and the others look just as pretty.

gaming What games would you consider works of art?
CloudFyre replied to A Black Circle's topic in Media Discussion
Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Myst, and the original Halo game, both of which were fantastic in terms of storytelling. Halo had a unique story on a scale that nobody had attempted yet, and it became the pioneer of first person shooters. It's fairly self explanatory. However, I'd rank Deus Ex even higher on the list - the gameplay is fantastic, but the storyline is good enough to become it's own novel or movie. They spent so much time including the tiniest details that it really makes the game cohesive unlike any others. Sure, you could blast your way through the story mode in 10 hours or less, but to find EVERYTHING in the game takes somewhere upwards of 80 hours. Emails from hacked computers 6 hours into the game can be read from the senders computer 40 hours into the game later, and suddenly the story will make more sense - and piecing the grand puzzle together and finding the connections between characters provides an immensely satisfying feeling. If you don't own Deus Ex: Human Revolution, you should buy it. Hands down it's my favorite game of all time. ($20 on Steam, and $5-10 on Steam during sales.) And on the same level with Deus Ex is Myst. One of the earliest video games, it had a very imaginative and captivating way to tell a story: they didn't. You appear on an island, and you have to figure out what happened, why you're there, and how to get off of it on your own. The puzzles and sheer depth of that game/series is magnificent. The sequels are just as wonderful: the landscapes are very fantasy-oriented, yet somehow grounded in reality. The puzzles are difficult, so difficult that it a pen and paper are necessary to write relevant information found in various parts of the world to recall later. Cyan Worlds (the creators of Myst) are working on a new game, Obduction, which looks to be a game of the same magnitude. There is no other video game I'm looking forward to more than that. -
Why I like being a... /different/ kind of "different" - being ME
CloudFyre commented on Miles's blog entry in Miles' Blog
You know you've been in the college mindset for too long when you read the capital word "ME" as the abbreviation "Mechanical Engineering". Back to the point: good post, and good advice. I'm a CSE student Junior, so I know what that can be like. -
I thought we had one of these...but then again, it's been months since I've peeked in here, and I'm not going to bother reading through all of the previous threads to find out. With that being said: on with the collaborations! (College and work has me hung up at the moment, but the rest of you can probably produce something.)

Interesting...I went ahead and made one of my tracks "non-downloadable" and I seem to have the same issue. It appears that checking/unchecking the box doesn't actually do anything.

Rarity may be one of my favorite ponies, but even I have to admit that her slight lack of generosity is quite disappointing at times. I can think of a couple notable events that proved us wrong, but aside from those scarce events, the rest of the time I'm desperately wanting to see her show her Element more.

I don't personally own any (aside from a piano and an electric guitar back at home, but I'm at college). I'd love to get my hands on this gear: Roland JP-8000 Virus TI Some sort of electronic drum pad (not sure which yet). Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus/DJM 900 Nexus mixer for live DJ sets. *Edit: All of this was done by 2 people live in front of 20,000 people using just the Roland JP-8000, a Virus TI, a looping pedal, mixer, and drum pad. This is one of my favorite groups of all time: Rank 1. (23:00 is the beginning of my favorite part.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3HvETprJe4
