Computers and technology in Equestria?

This is something had me wondering for a bit, what kind of technology does Equestria have? Every so often, we see stuff such as a computer to analysis Pinkie Pie's....Pinkieness, motors, Pinkie Pie's helicopter, trains, and so on.

 

And since I'm working on a fan-fiction which includes a computer, the thought came up.

 

What do you all think?

They don't really need computers, since they seem to be content with using books.  They've been shown to have arcades, so I guess they WOULD be able to make a computer if they really wanted.  I don't know how they'd be able to type with hooves though.

We'll at first, I'd imagine them in the late 1800s or early 1900s, but I'm starting to get them in more of them living in the 40s. Just what I think. Probably doesn't answer your question.

Funny thing is, I saw a vector for Daring Do's typewriter, and it's keyboard only has two buttons. So as for the typing, who knows how that works. But I see the same idea of them being happy with how things are and not needing them.

As a history major/history teacher, that does kinda give me a timeframe of their society in relation to ours.

Maybe, there might be computers in Equestria. We do know that there are phones which are landlines and not actual mobile phones, so the possibility of computers being in Equestria is a lively one.

Technology like "computers" or "telephones" requires electricity.

 

If there is a way to generate electricity in Equestria, such as the relationship between magnetic fields and electrons..... Well, magnets probably exists in Equestria, but do electrons exist?

 

There are big screen TVs seen in Manehattan, so maybe there is some kind of electricity, but why do ponies still use magic and fire for light sources?

There's Las Pegasus as well, which has a lot of advanced technologies. I think the technology in Equestria varies from place to place.
