Why Are Bronies Disliked?

I'm not. You're the one that's choosing to perpetuate that delusion in your head.

But that won't stop me trying, buttercup!

That sounds exactly like what I was referring to.

I was in fact, referring to him saying that there were no reasons.

My bad, I literally thought you meant that you would try to find reasons to hate someone.

I don't have to accept that because every single reason to hate bronies is, time and time again, full of shit. Anyone who thinks there's a good reason to hate bronies is lying to themselves.

Or maybe it's the people who can't find a good reason to hate bronies who are the ones who are lying to themselves.

Probably one of the following reasons:

A.) They have seen an uber disturbing fan art and automatically assume that all bronies are sick fucks.

B.) They formed their opinions from talking to the wrong bronies/ having weird Bronies at school.

C.) They have read an article online stating that all bronies are, and I quote, "gay autistic horse-fuckers" and immediately believe what it says because they're gullible.

D.) They're just assholes.

Interesting. I guess it makes sense. I've seen the "Stop shoving it down my throat" response a couple times, and i guess that would get rather annoying. Then again though, you could always come back and say "Well, we have to traverse YOUR garbage to". Idk. People who dislike bronies for that reason i don't mind that much, it's just the people who hate on the show in general without ANY knowledge of it that drive me up the wall.

it's the same for anything the haters don't like. It's not exclusively bronies. There are always gonna be trolls and haters for everythig.

Could it just be that people hate bronies because they're affraid of them? If we look into history this is a common trend, given that in history this is usualy pointed at homosexuals and ethenic minorities which you can't change and bronies are a social movement. However, when homosexuality first arose in the world people were affraid that they would become 'infected.' This could be the case for us as the brony fandom is increasing at a huge rate and people fear that they could be next so hate on it as much as possible to make sure this dosen't happen.

You do realize that Tena, on multiple occasions, has harassed bronies and anti-bronies alike, stalked them, purposely triggered people in order to prove a point, swore down anyone who disagreed with her, and outright claimed that anyone on Tumblr who made a statement that they were hurt by her or anyone else's actions needed to get over it?

I would not quote her as a paragon of someone to prove that bronies are great because if anything, she continually proves the exact opposite, and saying as much closes the door to discussion on why people dislike bronies. When you use people like her as your ammo you're essentially saying that your side is 100% correct and anti-bronies never have a point - and that's simply not true, I'm sorry to say.

I'm confused, are you claiming that the reason people hate bronies is because they don't want to become one?

In a way yes, like with homosexuals in the past people were scared about how many there were and thought that they may turn into one because of their popularity. It's the same with bronies. Someone sees that they're popular, is affraid of they're popularity and starts hating on it so when 'it comes for them' they will have distanced themselves enougth so that they won't be 'tainted.'

Would you please explain how you can become a brony even if you don't want to just because they are popular? Also, please stop comparing bronies to gay people.

It's not that you can become one without wanting to, it's that people think that it will become super popular and will lead to them becoming one which scares them, so they hate on it to stop it's increase in popularity. Also, i'm not comparing bronies not homosexualities, i am simpily using the prejudice and discrimination used againt the group as an example to back up my point as bronies are experiencing similar outcomes to their popularity as homosexuals did in the religious dark ages, however i can see where you can be confused and appolgise for any offence!

Here are my thoughts, divorced of the post that I just made regarding Tena (that I kind of don't want to evolve into a legitimate discussion) -

I believe that there is a myriad of reasons why people dislike bronies. Some of them are the ridiculous ones you guys point out (they're a strange phenomenon, people are weirded out by them for no reason other than they're adult males liking a children's cartoon), but others do come about as a result of legitimate experiences people have with people within this fandom. Someone close to me ended up being harassed at a convention because she was considered similar to Fluttershy (people touching her repeatedly without her consent despite protests from both her and her friend, fawning her with unwanted attention about how cute she was and wanting to keep her), and this isn't the first time I've heard of such a thing happening. I think to assume all bronies are bad is an ignorant assumption but it's also ignorant to willfully turn a blind eye to the bad that people within this fandom can do.

I also want to point out that this fandom isn't the only one that receives this treatment, and the only reason that it's more vocal is because of the size of it - the MLP: FiM fandom is enormous, so word about it goes around very quickly and easily by comparison of smaller, more niche fandoms. Just because other fandoms have bad nuggets, though, doesn't mean that we can simply dismiss them or distance ourselves from the bad people within the fandom. Saying "hey, not all bronies are like that" or "I'm not one of those bronies" is saying "I'm not responsible for this and therefore I don't want to deal with it". Don't you think that such an attitude perpetuates these negative behaviors that only further stain the reputation of the fandom at large? Perhaps it would help improve the image of the fandom, at least a little bit, if more people made an active effort to listen to those who complain about it instead of claiming that they're exaggerating.

I do acknowledge that it's commonplace for anti-bronies to make up stories about the fandom and that deserves to be pointed out, but this isn't the case all the time.

So people are "afraid" that bronies will become super popular which will lead them to become bronies themselves even tough they doesn't want to? Please, explain how this is possible.

A lot of bronies don't practice what they preach and are outright hypocrites. They demand acceptance but then spit venomous hate amongst themselves. I for one take the lessons of the show to heart.

Want an example of what I mean? I'm an alicorn. Now tell me there aren't people out there who just immediately judge before getting to know me or my character. "durrr hurr alicorns are OP or whatever everyone else is saying." "Yer character is black and red? Yooo stoopid!"

I have a love hate relationship with this fandom, which is why I am a brony but haven't been a very social one.

As society has grown people have become more like sheep, following popular trends as it's seen as socialy acceptable. The brony fandom is increasing at a phenominal rate and is even being considered a cultural phenomenon. When this happens in society more people start to follow the trend and it eventualy starts to spread all over. Because of this it will be seen as more socialy alright to follow the trend. With this more people will become followers and there will be those affraid of it. These are the people i am talking about. It has happened in the past and will continue to happen for generations to come.

Are you serious right now? If someone doesn't want to join a fandom, they aren't going to join it. It doesn't matter how ridiculous popular that the fandom is.

Im just saying that people are afrraid of the social aceptance that bronies are starting to get and in return thay might find themselves becoming one, eventhough they were against it, because of its changing social statment.

Correct. We need to understand that the fandom does have its share of people that are ignorant to proper ways to communicate and don't seem to grasp things like personal boundaries. Those kind of people might indeed have problems that interferes with their ability to do so. They would be the same regardless of what fandom they are in. Instead of doing nothing about it, we can denounce it and try to promote those people getting some kind of help. Beyond that, there is nothing that I can do. I can't stop them from acting like that.

The important thing is to understand that the fandom is populated by many individuals. Group think is a poison and it will try to infect the fandom as it does society as a whole.

There has been a lot of unacceptance (if that is a word) towards male bronies. Men are held to a high standard and to see them enjoy something feminine and childish is quite bizarre. It confuses social logic and throws mainstream societies for a loop.

I love the brony fandom for a lot of reasons but one of them is that it challenges established social norm
