You haven't filled out the proper forms, nor do I see a bill of sale for the required transaction of your soul to NNL, Djenty, or I.

 FEED ME.

I'm considering getting these two albums:

-Kill Em All by Metallica

-Peace Sells by Megadeth

Which one should I get first? I can't decide.

Peace Sells if you want evil-type thrash.

Kill 'em All if you want general thrash.

Happy Lichmas everypony!

The christmas stocking is pleased. Also, the irony.

And yes, merry christmas to you all. A shame I spent it sick as a fucking dog (until I got better this afternoon).

I swear, if the solo playing was just a little less sloppy...

Kidding, of course.  Grab some heavy and throw it in here, man! :)

Phew, that was close. I already traded my soul for that chocolate bar a couple weeks ago.

Anyone else here a fan of Chris Alvestam's (Scar Symmetry, Miseration, TFAM, Torchbearer, etc) vocals? This track I like in particular, mainly because it's the only track I can think of that has him doing baritone vocals at some point.

Also have that album's cover as my desktop wallpaper. It looks all pretty-like.

I'm just gonna repost Sean Hall's solo stuff for those who may have missed it.

Dude has some sick melodic stuff trapped in that djent format.

Yes, most definitely. I purchased Symmetric In Design awhile back, and he became one of my favorite melodic death vocalists. Chaosweaver and Trapezoid are my favorite tracks from them.

New album, got it for Christmas. Pretty impressed, especially considering that they've been together since 1967 and are still making quality music together. Yeah, this ain't metal by a long shot but alot of metalheads I know like Rush, so here goes.

Just in case it ain't metal enough for you, here's something off of the newest Kreator record. Sick riffage on this track.

I've been listening to Rush since I was a kid, they were always my favorite band. I never did get around to buying that album though, cause I haven't really been listening to them as much, plus their newer stuff just isn't nearly as good as their 70's and early 80's stuff.

Well, most bands either get better or worse as they go on through the years and I'll admit that Rush got the worse end of that spectrum. Though this new album is definitely worth a listen, even if you don't buy it.

Aaaaand more new Kreator Stuff.

Rush never seems to disappoint.  Even their synth records from the '80s had some excellent musicianship.  Still, early Rush is my favorite era.  Especially this album:

Sweet, Scar Symmetry is probably the band he's made his name out of, mostly. Trapezoid was one of the first songs I've heard from him too. Holographic Universe was the very first track I've heard from them, IIRC. Epic riffing on that album, with good vocals through SS's first three albums. Their newer vocalists are also real good, but they really botched Dark Matter Dimensions. They handled The Unseen Empire much better.

Yeah, most metalheads seem to like Rush. I haven't actually listend to Clockwork Angels as of yet, but I've heard many good things about it. Loved Moving Pictures especially.

I was relistening to the new Kreator since I hadn't in a while. The Few The Proud The Broken and Until Our Paths Cross Again are still my favorites.

Your opinion on the album covers? I think the original one is shitty, but the special edition pic is MUCH more enjoyable.

Just 'cause, here's some Megadeth. Can't really ever get tired of Rust in Peace, can you? Peace Sells and Countdown to Extinction are pretty close behind it, too.

I seriously love the album called "Voimasta ja kunniasta" by Moonsorrow, I've listened to it at least 5 times now. It's pure POETRY in my ears. Getting goosebumps just by the awesomeness. I feel like I want to go out there and become a viking, sailing in a viking ship, killing and plundering people just like a real viking in the old old times.

Ooh, Megadeth, Rust in Peace was a very nice album! And a lot of people seem to hate the way Risk turned out, but I won't lie in saying that I like that too. Especially Enter the Arena and Crush 'Em. You know, those crowd vocals.

I could, mainly due to that shitty remaster job. THANKS DAVE.

...on a lighter note, RIP is musical gold. Lucretia is probably my favorite solo from that album - MARTY'S SO SMOOTH.

It's because Risk was trying to be like Cryptic Writings, which everyone loved at the time (and still kinda do now). The grit in CW that was put in Risk turned sour due to mediocre execution. Hence why everyone doesn't like it. Me personally, I don't care for it as the only song I've heard from that album was Crush 'Em. I have no personal opinion.

I kind of liked the remaster to be honest.  I didn't really see a need for one though.  It's only been like twenty years.

Also, folk metal.

On an unrelated note, I picked up Surtur Rising by Amon Amarth, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son by Iron Maiden, and The Parallax II by BTBAM.  Yay.

Since everyone's talking about Megadeth, I might as well mention that I bought Peace Sells a couple days ago. I honestly like Rust In Peace way better. I don't think I'm gonna ever find a Megadeth album I like better than Rust In Peace.

Not gonna talk about Megadeth today.  Nope.

I'm just gonna post Misery Signals and go about my business.  It's a busy day today, for some reason.

Megadeth's career went downhill from there, so I am not surprised.

I though you loved that awful demon voice on Five Magics! :P

I have actually been listening to a lot less metal recently. But my thirst has been replenished with two new purchases: An Autumn For Crippled Children's Only the Ocean Knows on CD, and BTBAM's Parallax II on vinyl. So, any recs based on those two bands alone?

Also, here, some grind for the masses:

Pfft - no one's gonna find a better Megadeth album than RIP! The thing is with Peace Sells is that (besides the title track) it's a very dark, morbid even, album in their catalog. From black magic (Conjuring), russian roulette (Last Words), even psychotic murders (Black Friday), lyrically Peace Sells is the scariest Megadeth album lyrics wise.

Countdown, Djenty. Good album, made money, was still metullllllllll. Better argument would be either Youthanasia (which is a toned down CTE) or Cryptic Writings.

 God no man! Five Magics is my least favourite - even with such an ending! Poison Was The Cure is almost as bad. Except it's not! And you know it was the shitty ass snare that pissed me off (only track that benefited from it IMO is probably Lucretia...).

Here's a track from each album:

In my personal preference, Folk Metal > Melodic Black Metal. Not a fan of that 'beautiful' element bands like Carach Angren try well to create, so I'd say get the Arkona album.

HOLY SHIT WHERE'D YOU GO

I retreated to /mu/ and music review sites stocking up on some new tunes. It's been a strange trip, filled with hip-hop and post-hardcore. Luckily, I've found a ton of grindcore and black metal. :D

Post-black metal, which is kind of reminiscent of bands like Mogwai.

Which one should I get guys?

Oh god... FOLK METAL...
