This happens every time I get a really cool idea for a fanfic which sucks because I want to see my ideas in action but i always get stuck and give up .-.

All... The... Time!

I'm a serious writer and I've done about fifteen books in my time, so I consider myself a semi-expert on the subject of writer's block. So I'm going to ask you a few questions and please answer them with as much detail as you can. It helps.

How many plot twists have you thought ahead of and do you have a set ending in mind? Please don't spoil it.

How many other stories have you done before this one?

What is the overall theme and tone of the story (is it dark and scary, or does it leave readers feeling that whimsical Disney charm)?

Is this story for your own satisfaction or do you want others to enjoy it?

Where'd you come up with the idea originally?

Is your work performance heavily determined by your mood or some routine you follow?

If you can answer these questions I might have an answer for your problem. You never know because maybe you'll find the solution yourself just by answering these, but I hope I'll be of some help if you want.

I have thought up only one, all I can tell you is that Pinkie Pie will be staying in a place after thinking that it was bad.

How many other stories have you done before this one?

3 that are currently under construction.

What is the overall theme and tone of the story (is it dark and scary, or does it leave readers feeling that whimsical Disney charm)?

Sad and a slice of life

Is this story for your own satisfaction or do you want others to enjoy it?

I want others to enjoy this.

Where'd you come up with the idea originally?

I was watching an episode of MLP.

Is your work performance heavily determined by your mood or some routine you follow?

A routine. I usually just write (type) every day for about 2 hours, but not at the same time. I just do 30 minutes every 3 hours. So I can come up with new ideas between those blocks.

If you can answer these questions I might have an answer for your problem. You never know because maybe you'll find the solution yourself just by answering these, but I hope I'll be of some help if you want.

you might have a point but do you still know what can fix this. I might have a clue.

I have ideas, even written down and middle in a scene in my Fic, but now, I just can't continue, even, when I know, how to continue >_>

Legends never die. Ponies neither.

Does it count when I'm writing a super long post, and forget what I wanted to say? ;p.

Other than that i've only tried once to write a fanfic, and I basically couldn't think of anything to write for forever, then I wrote some terrible crap, got stuck on exactly what to write again, and gave up.

And that's when i realized I wasn't meant to write fanfics.

But yeah I feel like any writer eventually runs into writers block. Maybe just listen to music, that usually gets creative juices flowing.

@@Crystal Mint,

I apologize for my late response, but I got writer's block trying to respond. It took me at least twenty minutes to analyze and reply to your problem, but when I hit backspace to fix a typo my web browser went back to the previous webpage, destroyed my progress, and I didn't want to retype it over again.

Anyways, to abridge all the advice I was trying to give you, I think the first chapter of your story was... alright. The chief problem is, you need to think ahead because I'm not sure what kind of story your planning on unfolding besides the obvious "she's not right for you, I am" story type. Your understanding of the character is also backwards. It's awesome to see Rainbow Dash have an emotional moment, but you got it wrong because she's much too headstrong to let a little jealously make her cry. Instead of forcing her to feel something, it's better to come up with circumstances that demand she feel something. Like if she put Thunderlane in harm's way, the overwhelming guilt would have been more believable, for example. If this is a slice of life story, then you have to sit down with these characters and just find yourself enjoying the day to day life these character live, while making a plot out of it at the same time. Even when you're away from the computer you should daydream about them and wonder to yourself how Rainbow Dash would feel in such-and-such an event.

That's really a review as well as advice, but writing seems like a new experience for you so there are going to be some lessons you will learn along the way, but remember that we're always learning from each other. Just remember that everything takes time. If this doesn't quite feel like the answer to your problem then please post again. (And please, with more details).

I will start on that tomorrow, I can't today for reason(s).

Also thank you for taking the time to help me, and that post gave me some great new ideas! Thanks!

Uh huh. I've had writers block tons of times. Including now. Like right now. But it's ok. Watching TV and reading my own stories gives me more ideas.

What kinds of books do you write?

Pulpy, over-the-top stories about action, mystery and suspense that often have a cartoony twist or something thought provoking that twists your understanding of people and reality. Kind of like The Matrix but kid friendly. How about you?

I've only written stories for fim fiction and not actual books. I love writing, but I don't think I could make it as an author and the only way I can find out is posting my stories on fimfiction to see if those are any good and... oh. I'm probably rambling, but the first sentence was the answer.

(edited)

Yeah, I suffer from major writer's block. I'm more of an ideas person; I've come up with tons of ideas, but I always get stuck when I try to flesh them out.

Y'know, I've been on this site for almost ten years and I've never had a proper signature. Ain't that something?

I'm working on my very first story, and I've been stuck on the prologue for the past.....3 days.

Just do something to take your mind completely off of it and come back to it later.  That's what I do.  I get them all of the time because I usually run out of steam after the first paragraph.  :)

I curiously get writers block right when I finish the outlining process and start trying to write the actual story lol. That, plus a horrible case of indecision and self-doubt

Maybe after you write the outline, you could go back and make the outline more detailed?  :)  I don't know.  :)
