Ever converted anyone to the herd?

Does it count if they are a member of the target audience?

I go over to eat at this older couple's house - they invite me over as their way of welcoming me to the neighborhood. They have a 6 year old granddaughter that loves playing Wii with me (she thinks I am awesome because I helped her beat Mario Bros Wii).

Anyway, one day I decide to bring over my Friendship Express DVD. Turns out she had already heard of the ponies but wasn't into them (yet). We watched the first two episodes and got to talking. She asked me my favorite and I pointed to Rarity and she said "mine too!" (I take this with a grain of salt since she likes to copy me). Then she asked more questions and I think she got suspicious of how much pony knowledge I had. The grandparents wondered what I was doing with a Pony DVD. Sorry, but I didn't feel like telling the whole truth so I said it was "borrowed" to see if the little girl would like it. That wasn't a lie, I was borrowing it from myself and there was no way I was going to give up my copy, lol.

Well, now seeing that she liked it, I went out and bought her her own copy. Next time I visited, she was very happy with the gift and she showed me her McDonald's Rainbow Dash! I was so proud! We watched the remaining 3 episodes together and I got to tell her all about that special pony we all know and love - Derpy.

So there you are - target audience member umm... targeted! :P

I have recruited to this date 4 people. My sister, 2 cousins, and my best friend. My sister has recruited 3 of her friends, my cousins have recruited 5 of their friends and my best friend has recruited 7 others. Its a virus...a virus of friendship and love. One that im all to glad to spread around. :)

I think that it still counts. Especially if they were not already watching the show.

I have a cousin of around the same age that doesn't actually like most cartoons, but she became interested in ponies when her parents brought her over and they caught me and my brothers having a pony marathon in the living room (a little awkward).

I completely and utterly failed to convert the parents, but their kid has become a diehard MLP fan.

I'll be simultaneously curious and worried if a brony claims to have an apocalypsis that turned him or her into a fan.

The term "conversion" is used playfully here, I think. I always think of it as a process, so the term---sans its religious connotations---seems apt.

Fair enough. I can accept that explanation.

Incidentally Dr. Ophthalmos's story reminds me of something that happened on St. Patrick's Day during the Colorado meetup that can be seen on this Nightly Roundup. http://www.equestriadaily.com/2012/03/nightly-roundup-272.html

During the trip we briefly forayed into Park Meadows Mall. While there, several of us encountered a little girl about ten years old in one of the stores while we were playing around with a digital chess game, and the subject of ponies came up. She was the only one at the table who didn't watch the show--she claimed she was "too old for that stuff." Needless to say she was surprised that almost everyone at the table was in their twenties and watched the show. I suspect we may have convinced her to take a look at the show based upon a bit of our own gushing about its quality, but I honestly have no way of knowing if we did or not. Still would be neat if we did though.

Used to be known on here as Kyronea.

I tried, but failed. It happened eventually, but It wasn't my doing.

He would always whine when I brought up ponies and he refused to watch the show, but when he met his girlfriend, she converted him.

Now that I think of it, she totally jacked my convert!

Never converted anyone myself. I've just been juggling my two lives between non-brony friends and a Brony meetup group I joined a couple months ago.

Awesomeness = at least 20% Cooler.

I got a couple of close friends into MLP and figured, well, that's all I need really.

Then my seven-year-old brother heard me talking about it and decided to watch it when he caught it on TV. Now he's the youngest brony I know, talks about the show all the time, and his favourite pony is Fluttershy. I've never been more proud!

I converted one of the members here.

I remember in the summer-early fall I'd stay up to watch them, and I'd ask him to watch them too. He was pretty darn hesitant at first, but once he got past the first few he was hooked. It was our own little thing for a bit, and then he converted a couple other girls at my school (at least, I think they've been converted).

To this day we're still "pony buddies", I guess.

I converted Onix-warmachine-brony or "Rex" here on the forums :)

I'm also converting one of my best friends at the moment. Slow and steady, he likes the show but doesn't want to be a brony because one of his friends is a hater.

I converted my younger (12y.o.) brother yesterday here's the story if you are interested:

Last night he seemed like he didn't like the show that much said it was "a 4.5 maybe 5 out of 10" and that he probably wouldn't watch it again, then tonight he tells me his friend is interested in checking it out and asks if I could hook my laptop up to the tv so we could all watch it, I asked his friend about it and found out that his friend is flat out refusing to watch it and my brother basically begged him to give it a chance at this point my brother finally admits he thinks MLP is awesome so I brohoof him and tell him welcome to the herd.

Actually I have. A friend of mine at the University where I study and my neighbor. The former was willing to be welcomed to the herd. The latter took a little, convincing is the safe word I'd use ;)
