Wait, I thought "game theory" was about studying what behavior can be expected from people playing a game as a result of the particular rules set that they're having to work within and also as a result of what expectations they have for what actions the other players will take.

What about that 'Racist Mario' video?, everyone is hating on Mario in the comments, over 18 million people watched the video, that means over 18 million people hate Mario now.

Actually you guys are wrong, all the comments in the game theory video are people hating on Mario and his franchise, they are even saying they won't buy his games anymore because of that video. 

 

There are a ton of videos across youtube about Mario being an asshole, Lyrics to songs you didn't know - Mario, racist Mario etc...., and it is getting rather old, and whenever I scroll down into the comments, all I see is people hating on Mario and his games, so yeah, game theory started a trend, and now people across the internet hate Mario and his games because matpat uploaded a video, god, thanks matpat, for destroying a once beloved franchise, all for views, now how are Nintendo going to survive?, without Mario they are dead.

This is far too ridiculous to genuinely warrant a thorough, serious response lol, but I'll say a few things anyhow.  I couldn't give two bucks - even one or half a buck would be pushing it - about Game Theory or other internet anal-lysts that routinely seek to exaggerate and misconstrue as well as satisfy their own obsessive nitpicking urges.  Most people have little or no qualms about stealing cars and mowing down pedestrians in the GTA games.  Why on EARTH would they run away screaming from Mario titles??  If a game is fun, play it.  It's very complicated and confusing, I know. xD  If you're letting Game Theory decide what you should and shouldn't play, you might as well allow the internet in general to decide every thought and action for you.

I doubt this would actually affect many of the purchases though. 

A lot of people (including myself) tend to play games and movies for that matter, without overanalysing things as it distracts from the general enjoyment.

You can find violence in some form or another in most video games, even if it's just jumping on Goomba's and whatnot. I'm surprised people are even targeting such a lighthearted game to begin with.
