movies/tv Do you think Frozen is overated?

After hearing let it go played endlessly and inevitably gouging out my ears, yes, yes I do think its overrated. Maybe if people stopped acting like the movie was made by Jesus they would see that its not as good as they think it is.....

Im tired of people calling things "overrated", calling things "overrated" is overrated.  :maud:

That being said, it was a pretty decent movie, and Let It Go is catchy somewhat, so i say let people enjoy what they enjoy.  :maud:

Yes. It's nothing special. Disney thinks that Princess+Magic= Good Movie. Sadly, that ideology is working for them and they will continue to put out this rehashed and predictable trash. Oh, and Let it Go was the worst song in the entire movie.

The movie was above average for a general film, and amazing by children's movie standards. However it is not this apex of perfection that everyone seems to think it is, the song "let it go" is very very similar to almost every catchy pop song released in the last 5 years (

this covers my views on its big song, and goes more in depth about just how normal let it go is). But the movie is good, but not the apex of perfectiont that everyone seems to call it.

Is Frozen overrated? Yes, in some cases highly so.

But is it a bad movie? No, not in my opinion, infact I highly enjoyed it myself, the songs and everything(I love "Let it Go" although I have heard it enough that my love for it has kinda died down.)

Still, I think some people dislike it simply because it is so overpopular. And I just don't think that's a valid reasoning. It's no better than liking it just because everyone else does.

Not saying that is the only reason people dislike it, just one that seems popular.

But I understand many may not like the movie, and as long as it's for legitimate reasons, I'm fine with it. But it must also be respected that some people do like the movie, such as myself.

But I do think it is overrated(I don't really like the word either, but I have no better word.) because some people believe it to be like the best movie ever conceived, and that simply isn't true. But just because something is overrated, doesn't make it automatically bad.

The guy is hilarious. I love his videos lol

As for me, I still can't say for sure. I've never seen the film myself.

I used his video because it is one of the few that really goes in depth on how normal "let it go" is. It is one heck of a catchy song, but some apex of complexity and writing it is not.

And after watching it during the friday night stream, I do share his opinion. The musical parts were great, but the connecting narrative fell kinda flat.

Yeah, I know. He even acknowledged that he wasn't rating the movie as a soundtrack, but as a movie (which I wholeheartedly agree with).

Even though it is the best movie that Disney has made in a very long time, it is still overrated. People are acting like its the greatest thing Disney has ever made and while I really wish Disney would pull their heads out of their asses and make more movies like that and of course the ones they made in the 90's it is not the greatest thing Disney has ever made. For me it is a toss up between Aladdin and The Hunchback of Notre Dame for which is my favorite Disney movie but there are plenty of other worthy contenders as well.

, just letting you know that I've moved your thread to the Media Discussion section :). This is where stuff related to books/movies/shows/games/etc that aren't MLP, go.

And nah, just a good movie that some people enjoyed a lot more than I did. Might just be the circles I'm in, but I see way more people going out of their way to nitpick and bash the movie, and call it overrated, than I see people praising it. Perhaps it has crossed back into underrated territory by now :derp: ? There're Disney movies with stories, characters and soundtracks that I like better, but I consider Frozen a fun and enjoyable watch.

No denying that Let it Go loses some of its punch after the 10,000th listen, though

Best Disney movie ever? Probably not

Damn good movie? You betcha

I don't think it's overrated at all, and even if I don't think it's the greatest movie, I still think it deserves a lot of the praise it gets.

I also agree with DashForever's argument. I'm starting to get the feeling that a lot of people are going out of their way to bash the movie and say it's garbage just on the basis that it's popular, and it's getting to the point where the movie's actually starting to feel underrated...kind of like what happened with Final Fantasy VII or Ocarina of Time

I liked the movie "Frozen" in its time, I dunno, nearly a year ago, but...

FOR CELESTIA'S SAKE THE MOVIE IS A YEAR OLD AND THE SONGS SHOULD NOT BE SUNG AND PLAYED OVER AND OVER AGAIN. ITS OVER, GO VISIT NEW STUFF!

UGGHHHH !

When a kid's princess movie Frozen came around promoting that love- true love can come in all forms with arguably fantastic animation is called overrated because people everywhere enjoy it for almost a year seems kinda unfair, don'tcha think? Bronies have been gushing and spamming the internet and beyond over a little girls' show about cartoon fantasy ponies for almost four years and now we're complaining about Frozen?

Well, both of those things have some revolutionary aspects to them. I would say that in the love department MLP is more revolutionary because the princess in Frozen still fell for a man in the end (note I said princess, as in Anna and not Elsa). I think people can just gush about whatever they like, so long as they remember to be considerate, which I'm sure we can agree that both fandoms might forget on occasion  :derp:

As for Frozen, I really thoroughly enjoyed it. I think the movie's importance can be overstated, the appreciation of "Let It Go" can be overstated, but the one thing that cannot ever, ever be overstated is that Idina Menzel's voice is humanity's single most precious gift, praise be unto her

I enjoyed it, but I never really knew about the hype train when I saw it. The songs were enjoyable, the art design was really well done and the overarching story was fairly engaging... It was all around a good movie.

I don't think it really deserves all the attention it gets, but what do I know about the free market and what people want?
