Okay guys, some fun facts for you guys. It's early but Imma do it anyway.

 

MLP S5E1/2 will air in Saturday April 4th. Assuming everything goes according to plan (2 parter Premiere and Finale) then Season 5 would end at August 22nd 

 

Another fact we know is Ep 100 = S5E9 will air in May 23rd.

 

Again, this is assuming there's no skipped week and whatnot. 

 

My guess, although unrelated, is that EQG3 will be released early next year or in December. Either way, I'm hyped.

What's kind of worrying about their schedule is that they mentioned having a Hearth's Warming (Christmas) holiday special, but hopefully the season won't be delayed as far as December 2015.

S05, E03 (First Aired: April 11, 2015) The ponies try to make Princess Twilight's castle feel more like home after finding out she's been avoiding it.

Bloom and Gloom

S05, E04(First Aired: April 18, 2015) Apple Bloom has high anxiety over getting her Cutie Mark and it begins to turn her life into a nightmare.

You can make a good guess that B&G will mark a reappearance of Luna. So far, her fellow CMCs have had Luna mentor them. AB hasn't, so this would complete the circle. Secondly, because "nightmare" means a negative toll on her life, it can be a possible double entendre.

 

Most importantly, though, is CSC. By getting this episode out of the way really early, the audience's expectations start to transition.

 

Analyst Silver Quill made two specific wishes for the castle in CSC:

 

1. Warmer color scheme than the blues, greens, and violets we've seen thus far. Though it helps draw the idea to the golden roundtable, it also creates a very cold atmosphere in what is supposed to be Twilight's home. Even just swapping the library book colors would help.

2. The castle has very large rooms, which feels cavernous for just two residents. If Twilight had a small study, separate of the library, that'd be wonderful.

He makes a really good point about the warmer colors. The castle is a really big eyesore just by how much it stands out from the rest of Ponyvile's organically composed houses. But its biggest problem is its interior. Blue, green, and purple are all cool colors. Including the deep black, jagged edges on the walls, and steel-colored-rock chairs only make the rooms more depressing. The treehouse works because it's very cozy, organic, and very homey. Each little bits of info that fit Twilight's back-end characterization tremendously. Changing some things with the castle like streamlining the warm pastel colors or smoothing out the edges would help give her newfound castle a more likeable personality.

Yeah, i know what you mean. I am glad that they adress this and don't just say "f you, she lives there now, deal with it." That just shows that the writers aren't careless like some people want us to believe.

 

The first few episodes have interesting themes and i can't wait for the season to begin.

I theorized earlier in the thread that the theme of "Coming of age" mixed with the other theme of "Cutie Mark Magic" would mean the CMC will most likely get their cutie marks this season. And the description for Bloom and Gloom just makes me further think that.

This is different from the usual "the CMC try something obviously wrong to get their marks, and they don't" story, it seems to be directly addressing the problems behind Applebloom's obsession, which, since all signs point towards the CMC getting their marks this season, is a good way to start their arc.

 

So, if anything, we're getting rid of that tired plotline.

Ah, Castle Sweet Castle. This episode is going to be heartwarming, it's going to be about Twilight wanting the Library back. Do you remember the episode of Spongebob Home Sweet Pineapple. Think about it. Spongebob's Pineapple is destroyed by Nematodes who feed on it. Spongebob try's making new homes but to no avail. So he decides to move with his family, much to Squidward's fortune. Spongebob shed a tear on the floor and just when he was about to leave, the tear made the seed grow back and the Pineapple came back. It was heartwarming. Now think. Tirek is the Nematodes. And Twilight will shed a tear near the Library and the Library will grow back. It's interesting.

Also, what explains the Hearth's Warming episode? Is the season split into two halfs or what? It's evidence that the season may not be chronological.

I'm not sure if this is true or not but I heard that there in fact toys of the CMC with cutie marks, if so then if anything this is a little late.

Cutie Mark Crusaders not getting their cutie marks might not seem as important. Alternatively, they might be doing better to actually keep their cutie marks under wrapped until they come, or at least they don't have plans for the merchandise to be released yet and that will be saved for later on in the year, which will probably be closer to when all 3 get their cutie marks.

I'm so excited!! I'm hopeful, however that we will see more of the background ponies, I think they deserve a turn to shine. However, do you think Sunset Shimmer will get a spot in this season, or will she stay an EG? I think they need to keep her as an EG, however it'd be kinda cool, and sweet, if she were to go to Equestria and apologize to Celestia...

I'm not sure if this is true or not but I heard that there in fact toys of the CMC with cutie marks, if so then if anything this is a little late. 

I think there were figures that had keychains with the characters' cutie marks on them including the CMC, but those three were changed to remove the cutie marks.

What kind of toyset do you expect? CMC now with cutie marks? It's not actually a huge selling point if you ask me.

 

Also, sooner or later, they have their cutie marks. If they search the whole series long for their cutie marks, without any payoff, it would be a huge waste and makes the CMC look like failures.

 

I hope they there cutie marks this season, so we have a nice feel good moment.

Wow I can't believe we already got the synopsis of both episodes 3 and 4 already!  That's fantastic.

Out of the 2 episodes I am more looking forward to Castle Sweet Castle mainly because it would be interesting to see how Twilight truly reacts to the lost of her home that she had spent 4 seasons in and all the memories she had in it.  Since it was also Spike's home maybe there would be some more insight into the nice relationship and character dynamic between Twilight and Spike such as found in episodes like Lesson Zero, The Crystal Empire and even Equestria Girls.  It could also be really good since M.A Larson said on twitter he was working on a serious episode without any jokes and if it was allowed then this could be said episode which would really be interesting.

 

About Bloom and Gloom it seems really nice that the writers will be addressing the problem with the CMC's obsession on getting their cutie marks and since this season has been stated to have a coming of age story arch this most likely means they are finally going to earn them.  Also I'm pretty sure that this will be the episode in which Luna will mentor Apple Bloom such as what happened with Scootaloo and then Sweetie Bell. It is always nice to see more Luna.  I think this potentially could be the episode where A.B gets her cutie mark but then again she could always get it last and have to deal with the new dynamic between her and her friends which could make for an interesting episode, But for now this seems like it could be a good episode as well.  We just have to wait and see.

One thing I love about MLP is that for better or for worse it's never afraid to challenge it's own status quo. Whether it be alicorn Twilight, Twilight's castle, or the CMC getting their cutie marks, it never fails to progress itself. I'm looking forward to what's coming up next.
