Oh, so this is now a general discussion thread? Coolio!

I'm gonna go ahead and share my recent Creative build. This is the largest maze I've done to date - its dimensions are 134 x 102 blocks. None of my friends have managed to complete it yet. (This was before I made the walls higher and added a roof!)

0/10, that doesn't even compare to my awesome "better" creation 100% by me

I call it

Joking, that is pretty cool, I can already picture myself having a spasm attack in there from being lost

Technically, yes, as other than and self-imposed goals there are none, you cannot "finish" the game.

I usually play on peaceful until I have my farm going and a full set of armour (usually iron).

The trick is to be very careful, but even then you can still die a lot, experience is the only other thing that helps and even that fails sometimes.

The real challenge is Hardcore mode.

You can now thought with killing the big dragon :x!

Personally it's run its course for me. After playing for 400h+ even hardcore isn't challenging to me anymore and I normally get bored around the point where you need SOOOOOO many diamond for everything is horrible.

I have to admit I just can't stand mining for hours on end nowdays, it's just boring for me :P! I've started playing terraria which has bosses and stuff and is a bit more fun for me :D!

Not really completing though. You can keep going afterwards, and it is not essential. Part of being a sandbox game is that you cannot complete it, but you can complete goals you set for yourself.

Can I add, I love playing with people thought and just trying to build big structures :)

I hope they bring back the MC server for the forums at some point :P that would be awesome !

Yeah I agree, I mean over the last month I've been building a massive railway network which was good fun :). But outside of creative mode or fun with friends on a building project I find it hard to play :P

I know what you mean. I end up just building cool stuff on Creative half the time. Cool looking, but still functional; I built a Greek Temple once, it was still good as a base for mining etc.

If you think that's hard, you should see some of the mods out there :P I was trying the Better than Wolves mod, and my GOD! It's a struggle just to find enough food to prevent yourself from starving to death, and when you die you spawn in a random far away location. You can't make wood or stone tools, and beds don't work.

Anyway, vanilla minecraft isn't so bad once you get yourself some armor, weapons, and a bed to set your spawn point with :)

YA minecraft can be a bit boring compared to borderlands 2 and stuff, but once and awhile it can be entertaining, I always wanted to do a survival with friends online, but I never get the chance lol

It appears Minecraft is now coming to PS3, PS4, and PSV, even though I own it on PC it's great to see Notch expanding the game, if enough of my friends pick it up on PS4 I will pick it up to play with them but until then...PC MASTER VERSION(eternally)!

To me Minecraft is indeed a challenging game, but one of the funnest IMO!

Just the feelings you get out of it...you get to have an imagination and build a home, fight for survival, make weapons and things to make a garden or mine. I get a serene feeling from that game.  :)

I find it fun, and one of my favorites. I like to go all survival and stuff, and it's just as fun in two player +.
When i'm feeling creative, i'll go on peaceful/creative mode and build things...if a challenge, I simply put it on whatever difficulty/survival

I love Minecraft! So many different styles of play.

On one hand there is survival mode, where you do what the title says, just survive! It feels good to continuously evolve your house, weapons, and tools, by keeping at it all the while battling monsters!

Then for when you want a good challenge there is hardcore mode, which is really fun to do, because the stakes are that much higher, and you need to be that much more careful, you die and you don't come back.

Then we have creative, to let all of your creativeness out! Whatever you think of, you can build, really just a great game overall, plus I love the soundtrack.

Minecraft has provided me many hours of entertainment. :)

Minecraft is fun as hell and I'm glad I bought it but I just can't find a good server..all the servers I have tried are always one of the following:

*Overcrowded

*Laggy

*Everyone is mean and unforgiving to newcomers

*Griefers

So 90% of the time I just play creative offline, here are some of my builds:

I played this quite a bit last year on the xbox.
Me and my friend made a pretty cool kingdom.

He built a massive redstone castle on top of a mountain, with a huge waterfall coming out it and cascading down one side of the mountain.
I set up a multi-track rail system that went to all of our mines and prime locations, including a perimeter rail that went around the whole map.
He built nether portals everywhere, and did most of the creature fighting.
I renovated the castle for him, adding features like an underground prison and a kennel area for his tamed wolves.
He built giant watch towers in certain parts of the map, all of them slightly different in design so we could use them as location markers.
I built a pokemon gym/stadium, and a train station for the castle. (Basically, a hub for the most important rail routes)

We both built several villages, too. Nothing spectacular, just something to break up the mass of trees.

Together, we produced something pretty decent.
But then i got a new xbox. And my transfer cable didn't detect my external hard drive. Which meant that i've lost my file.

That kinda put us both off, seeing our efforts go to waste.
Though i do sometimes dabble in creative mode. Last time i was on it, i was building a huge egyptian pyramid with traps and treasures. I might finish it some day, but who knows.

I'm getting some compensation money soon due to a car crash i was in last month, so i'll probably be treating myself to a PC. Then i'll get the PC version of Minecraft and just join a server. Looking forward to it.

I used to play this on XBOX, but i just got bored of it. If they would roll the updates out a bit faster, i'd probably play it a bit more. But i'm not a Minecraft fan, i bought it because my friends kept pressuring me to do so.

So now i play Terraria, because that's more my style of game, i prefer having multiple bosses/a harder challenge

I only really play Minecraft when I have friends to play it with. I have the PC version but I never play it. It's just so much easier to hop on and play with friends on the 360 version. I sold my xbox though so I'm going to start playing the PC version more. During the summer some friends and I played the crap out of Minecraft. I remember building Asian-style towers, and a large hotel. I also built a lot of Russian flags, pixel art Pikachus, and pixel art Rainbow Dashes for some reason. Anyways, I like minecraft. It's a fun game. Even better with friends. In fact, I think I'll go play some survival on the pc version right now.

Hey guys, big Minecraft news! Check it out!

Here's the main part I want to point out:

There have been three main problems we have wanted to address:

  • Too large oceans
  • Too uneven/random biome placement
  • Not enough variation

The solution to these problems have been,

  • Tweaks to add more islands and checks to avoid huge oceans
  • Biomes have been put into four main categories: snow-covered, cold, medium, and dry/warm. Biomes will avoid getting placed next to a biome that is too different to itself (sometimes this still happens, but it’s very rare now and not all over the place)
  • We’ve added a whole bunch of new biomes…
  • … and most biomes have uncommon/rare variations that you may run into
  • We’ve also added a bunch of new terrain features, such as new flowers and trees

I also wrote a blog about it which can be found here.
