Ok fellow bronies and pegasisters, you all may have been aware of yet another great success from a talented group of scientists. They landed a spacecraft on a comet. Unfortunately, he has been a victim of harassment by that unholy branch of radical feminist

I can't believe the guy actually cried about it though. I would've laughed in their faces for being so petty and stupid. I'm not saying that because I hate feminists but because I don't tolerate idiots.

Damn extremist, they just love to attack everything these days just because they can with no thought of the consequences or how little if any positive difference they would make(usually ends in nothing, but just makes everybody walk on egg shells and pander to their hysterics). Ugh, I hate people sometimes :okiedokielokie:

He definitely should just ignore those people. He achieved something great for science and humanity and all these people care about is a shirt. A shirt with no actual nudity or anything. Just comic book style sexiness in it. I think he is far above those people in every way.

He can wear what he damn well pleases.  It's no concern of the neo-feminists what shirt I happen to have on my back, even if I do happen to have five minutes of fame in the media.

Sig made by Kyoshi.

Cool things people have said about me:

Never heard of him but I guess just you mentioning him is a good reason not to go anywhere near that name.

(In reference to an author I suggested.)

There was nothing wrong about his shirt. To be frank, I kinda like it. If I was there, I would have said "Sweetie, come with me for a moment." Then I would have explained in glorious detail about maybe she wouldn't so uptight if she rolled some latex over that microphone and put it to an alternative use.

(I can be a real B*TCH, when I want to be!)

That picture thingy at the beginning really overdramticizes this a ton. It makes it seem like a reporter was interviewing him after the landing and the first thing she said to him was about the shirt.

Doing a little research, it seems this is the order of events:

*Matt Taylor is interviewed in the shirt. The shirt was not commented on in the interview.

*Some other reporter entirely posts a pic of the shirt on Twitter and comments on how she thinks it is the kind of thing that drives women away from STEM fields.

*Twitter shitstorm ensues.

*We then get an editorial from a writer on The Verge about the Twitter shitstorm where we get the quote about not caring about anything but the shirt.

*During a webcast from him and some other scientists on the project, Matt takes a moment to apologize about the shirt and is tearful when he says this.

Personal opinion on this. The shirt was pretty tacky and looked unprofessional. Saying that it made STEM fields look like a bit of a boys' club is not all that unreasonable. It's not the most horribly sexist thing I've seen in the world, but it does make the people working in these fields seem kind of gross.

Unfortunately because of the way Twitter works, a not all that unreasonable comment snowballs until we end up with it trending and turning into bigger news than the project that Matt works on.

I can understand not liking the shirt (I would never wear one like that), but I think they are making way too big of a deal about it.

It is just another disgusting failure of humanity and whoever supports those so-called feminists who did all the shouting should feel bad. They've ruined this guy's probably most important day in his entire life with their bullshit. In my opinion they should now face serious court consequences, because what they did had no argumentation which would make it look good and they've ruined his opinion as well. People should learn that outright offending other person in public is not right thing to do unless You have a very good reason and what You say is truth. Their only reason is total bullcrap.

And I too think he should not have cried over some idiots being too sensitive about stuff. But, exactly, he probably was one of those sensitive guys who genuinely thought he has hurt people. I can't blame him for that.

Also I will just leave this:

Oh dear God, that shirt is hideous! I'm dropping out of school right now, because I could never work with someone who wears such a shirt. Forget my engineering degree, it's not worth it if it means I have to be around people like that. Ewwww.

^ This is sarcasm, if you can't tell.

Yeah, wow.  That's pretty ridiculous, to make such a big deal over a shirt with some sexy comic book characters or whatever on it.  There was some quote in there by the criticizers about naked women?  What naked women?  They don't look naked to me.  If you're gonna criticize, at least get your facts straight.  It's not like it was porn.  Just some friggin comic book characters.  Geeze.

Something else I want to touch on--Now I realize that there are all kinds of double standards at play when it comes to this type of thing.  I know that throughout history, and still today, women were the ones that were typically objectified and treated with sexism, etc.  But if I saw a shirt with a bunch of ripped, scantly clad, sexy male comic book heroes, it wouldn't offend me.  Just sayin.  I'm not offended by hot guys.  I don't think it objectifies or degrades men.  I know that society is a product of hundreds of years of sexism, but I just hate double standards, that's all.  Just because a guy wears a shirt with some sexy women on it doesn't mean he objectifies or disrespects women.  People need to not be so touchy.

What they are protesting is entirely different from what happened here. Judging by the signs, that's a protest against "slut-shaming" and "rape culture". Objectification is different than being offended or offensive, so honestly, these two images don't really belong together. And they appear to be saying women are equal, not that women are better, which is what radicals often do. I'm not sure where this picture is from, but it's outlining two very different things.

Also, calling women "ugly" only continues the circle of hate and the idea that many women have that beauty is a means of self-worth or value, which is exactly what the radicals are attacking as well. Not to mention that landing a spacecraft should make anyone "better" a human being. He did something great, yeah, but that shouldn't detract from possibly offensive behaviour. A more extreme comparison could be protests against a man with sexual abuse allegations or history, but he was once a great doctor who saved a few lives, so those allegations or histories make it okay or at least more acceptable. (Obviously this is WAY out of proportion to this, which is a stupid, stupid case, but you understand my gist, I am sure.)

Oh, and were they protesting the shirt thing? Because if so, I can at least sort of understand your comment on their appearance as a trigger, but otherwise you're insulting random and likely peaceful protesting women that have nothing to do with this, at all.

Jussayin'. :)

In any case, it's great that he did that, but there are other, more appropriate items to wear to such a momentous occasion. The shirt is not offensive, there are many that are far worse, and I think the side siding with him are taking this just as far as those siding with the "radical" feminists, judging by the hatred and ignorance of event order in that picture.

Both sides have made mistakes, AND both are blowing it way bigger than it needs to be.

Why do people act like feminists are some monolithic entity? Someone on Twitter says something is sexist, therefore it's the fault of all feminists everywhere. WTF?

Ehh, nerves got over me as I got really sickened by how disgusting the situation is. I am not against entire feminism movement but I hate all the women who behave like their gender is better, not equal. Sorry for that, I have nothing to defend myself.

And this my friends, is why I stay away from Tumblr. I feel as though this joke is appropriate for the situation.

How many feminists does it take to change a lightbulb?

It doesn't matter, feminists can't change anything

All seriousness though, this sickens me. One of our world's brightest minds is being judged because of a shirt.

Feminists are not really supporting this protest. What we witnessed is typical example of feminazis who have nothing to do with their life so they waste it to look for everything what might offend them. Feminist is Emma Watson. Feminazi is for example one polish celebrity who was offended by guy opening door for her. This is a difference between those two. Feminist can be a very nice woman and she cares for equal rights for both genders. Feminazi sees women as superior over men and will whine over dumb shit like this because she is too boring to get any attention other way.

(Feminazi is not real thing I just use the word to name women who act like the one who started a scandal with this T-shirt).

Also fun fact. Do You know where did he get this T-shirt? His friend who happens to be a female bought it as a gift to him. She is so sexist, right? lol.

I also think that instead we should make a thread to discuss what the guy just did. Let's show him respect by discussing his achievement, I am sure he would prefer to see people learning from his experience rather than giving attention to random jerk who has problem over... nothing.

If I was him I would have made my fake apology while wearing a "Get back in the kitchen," shirt and speedo.

I tend to exasperate things when I have to deal with people who are members of a group and have a cult like loyalty to it and its ideals.
